If we play 352 and Shaw and Rafael are back I will be super happy, add Blind and take out the terribly out of form Young, Valencia and Darren Fletcher and we should have a completely different buildup which is what we're lacking.

    Falcao Rooney
    Di Maria
    Shaw Herrera Blind Rafael
    Rojo Jones Evans
    De Gea

Are we a serious chance of seeing that team ? I hope so. Rafael and Shaw should be available for selection, Herrera is back and the only doubt should be Jones.:drool:

If Shaw and Rafael are back, we shouldn't be playing 3-5-2 ever again. It is pretty much only the wing backs being fit that is preventing us from playing with 4 at the back. Remember we are only playing (or played) with 3-5-2 because we lacked the right players to do so. With the right players fit ,we should be looking to play something like this, or any 4 at the back formation:

    -----------------------De Gea---------------------------
    Rafael-------CB------------------Rojo----------------Shaw-
    -------------------------Blind---------------------------------
    -----------------Herrera--------Di Maria-------------------------
    --------------------------Mata-----------------------------------------
    -------------Rooney-----------------Falcao---------------------------------------

    Win!

I hope we just win this game even if it's by a wrong decision though. I can see most people predicting that we will hammer them but IMO it won't be an easy game. Let's just start winning.

Yeh I really like and prefer your formation with Jones if fit as the cb with Rojo, I just feel that LvG will still be playing with the 3412.

I'm too Fecking excited for this game, all I can picture in my head is Di Maria running the show against QPR. I've been watching some videos on him and he's truly a freak .

Here's to a Manchester United victory and a Liverpool loss this weekend lads:devil:

    Any updates on Jones?

Jones out for at peat couple of weeks, definitely missing qpr game.

With smalling and jones out will we switch to 4 at the back of Rafael returns? Or Rafael too unfit to start therefore will be Blackett rojo Evans at the back? Shudders at that thought. :annoyed:

Smalling trained today as did rafael, expect one of them will start.

    So it begins.

I think the new era will start with a hiding for QPR. Probably one of Rooney, Van Persie, and Falcao will start on the bench. And we'll probably see a 4:3:3 formation. Blind should start at left fullback, and Herrera and Fletcher in the middle. Something like this...........

    ------------------De Gea-------------------
    ----------Evans-------------Rojo-----------
    Valencia----------------------------Blind
    -------Fletcher----Herrera------Di Maria--
    -------------Mata-------Rooney------------
    --------------------RVP---------------------

Falcao introduced in the 70th minute for whoever looks the most tired. Probably RVP.

    ------------------De Gea-------------------

    Valencia----------------------------Rojo
    -------Blind----Herrera------Di Maria--

I'd definitely love to see this. I fear LVG might stick to his 3-5-2 though

i think LVG will stick with 3-5-2..

Yesterday we all found out about juice. This is how things might look if we beat them on Sunday.

    Really hoping for something like:

    DDG
    Rafael Jones Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Blind
    Januzaj Mata Di Maria
    Falcao

That to me is the most balanced team.

I'm pretty sure we're going to end up trying to force at least 3 of Rooney, Falcao, RvP, and Mata in the same lineup though and will end up playing like shit until about the 60th minute when van Gaal pulls one of the strikers off.

    That line-up is perfect.

    Jones is injured though.

Couldn't agree more. 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-3 – that lineup fits both tactics. And Januzaj gets to play too. Neither Rooney nor RvP deserves to be certain starters after what they've shown during 2014 and trying to shoehorn them into the lineup by putting them in positions they're qualified for or comfortable with just because they're our star names, is not the way forward. Not sure about Blind but on paper he looks to be our only good option for the holding midfielder role now that Carrick is out injured. I really hope that is our preferred lineup for most of this season but I seriously doubt that LvG agrees with me here.

Or even better: Both RvP and especially Rooney proves the doubters (like me) wrong and deliver world-class perfomances due to them having better players around them.

Its 3 at the back people, get used to it, nothing has changed to suggest otherwise.

Three at the back seemed to be more of a reaction to the players we had available at the time, I'm hoping that now that we have some reinforcements in that we'll see a change to that formation.

    No.

We were playing with 3 at the back before rafael and shaw got injured. He started the 352 before anyone got injured. People need to remember that.

Rooney, RVP and Falcao. No way is Van Gaal going to play a system where he can only play 1 of them imo. The 3-5-2 is here to stay.

We played it throughout pre season, I doubt LVG would have us playing an unknown formation all this time unless he intends to stick with it for more than 3 games.

People seem to really dislike this formation and I don't know why, it does suit our players, I see people posting the line ups they'd play and its all 4-3-3 but including all unavailable or injured players, try putting up a 4-3-3 without these players and it would look and perform just as shit.

Hoping we win this. Kick on our season with the signings.

The only player currently not fit in my 4231 is Jones, and he's easily replaceable. I don't really mind playing 3 at the back just at this point I think 433 or 4231 would work better. It just screams of trying to fit in all our big names without really thinking about how the team will perform the best.

I'd be surprised should van Gaal move away from 3-5-2 so soon, he believes in the system.

Because he said he can't play 4-3-3 because he doesn't have players like ADM and midfield is a big weak.....we have ADM now and two (three if you count Ander Herrera) new recruits.

He also said he couldn't play with one striker because of his centre-forward options, this was before he signed Falcao too.

Based on injuries, I'd like to see...
    de Gea
    Evans Rojo Blind
    Valencia Herrera di Maria Shaw
    Mata
    van Persie Rooney

This is the match that will separate the men from the boys in the lineup prediction game.

    Evans Rojo Blind
    Valencia Herrera di Maria Shaw
    Mata
    van Persie Rooney

Shaw not fit to start so either Blind LWB with Blackett LCB, or a 4312 with Rojo LB, Blackett and Evans CB, Blind DM behind Herrara and di Maria.

    Final Predicted Lineup:

    _____________________________________________________________________________

    1. De Gea

    6. Evans 17. Blind 42. Blackett

    25. Valencia 8. Mata 24. Fletcher 7. Di Maria 3. Shaw

    20. Van Persie 10. Rooney

    ______________________________________________________________________________

    Bench:
    13. Lindegaard, 2. Rafael, 5. Rojo, 21. Herrera, 28. Anderson, 11. Januzaj, 9. Falcao

I'd like to see this. It can easily be put into a 4-2-3-1 with, di Maria on the right and Rooney or Mata playing as a false winger.
    de Gea
    Rafael Evans Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney Falcao

Shaw not fit to start so either Blind LWB with Blackett LCB, or a 4312 with Rojo LB, Blackett and Evans CB, Blind DM behind Herrara and di Maria.

He didn't say that. He said he couldn't play a full game. He could still start. Definitely won't play 90 mins though.

He didn't say that. He said he couldn't play a full game. He could still start. Definitely won't play 90 mins though.

That would be good then. Ideal scenario:

    DDG
    Rafael - Evans - Rojo - Shaw
    Blind
    Herrara - Di Maria
    Mata
    Van Persie - Rooney

    -----------De Gea----------
    Rafael--Evans--Rojo---Shaw
    ---------Blind-Herrera------
    Di Maria----Rooney--Januzaj
    -----------Van Persie-------

Blackett is the only other cb we have and he'd only fit in where Rojo's playing surely? With that in mind we can't play 3 at the back, the way he wants anyway. Hopefully Blind and Herrera in cm with Blind going to lb later on for Shaw? Falcao coming on later hopefully.

So people think LVG will let a player who hasn't fit enough to play a full game to start? This is not CL final you know, we have 34 games left after this match and Shaw is an important player to risk like that.

After that press conference I am predicting:

    -------------------De Gea------------------------

    Rafael--------Evans------Rojo---------Blackett

    ---------------------Blind-----------------------

    --------Herrera------------Di Maria-------------

    --------------------Mata-----------------------

    ----------Rooney -------RVP------------------

Falcao and Shaw off the bench.

    3-0 United

That would be good then. Ideal scenario:

    DDG
    Rafael - Evans - Rojo - Shaw
    Blind
    Herrara - Di Maria
    Mata
    Van Persie - Rooney

Not sure he'd be willing to abandon 3-5-2 just yet, but that looks very good, it must be said. I don't see Rojo starting at cb, due to his lack of English. I'd expect him to play left back for the rest of this year and maybe he'll start to shift to cb around January. As for the QPR game, it's really a toss up over who starts at left back imo. Honestly, I think my predicted team is correct except for possibly the left back position, which could be either Shaw or Rojo.
