    I'd like to see:

    Butland
Dalot (if fit), Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw (if fit)
    Fred, Mainoo
    Sancho (if fit), Antony, Garnacho
    Martial (if fit)

Unsure whether Dalot/Shaw will be available and whether Sancho/Martial will be ready to start. If not, AWB, Malacia, Pellestri and Weghorst to start instead. Hoping Martial and Sancho get at least 30 minutes.

Would be very surprised if Forest don't rest more or less their entire team - they know they won't turn around a 3 goal-deficit, so why risk injuries to key players

I dont think EtH will be complacent and still expect a strong spine in the team. Wouldnt be surprised to see Casemiro and Bruno both start and then hooked on 55 mins assuming everything going to plan.

Other than those, i'd expect Rashford to be rested and probably Antony, but imagine it will be the same back 4 as the weekend.

Hope Garnacho and Pellistri get a good run out, and would love to see a bit more of Mainoo, although would be surprised to see him start.

It's not until March... We play twice a week every week. Newcastle play once a week every week with the odd midweek game. They can play strongest 11 every game because they have 1 week between games most weeks. For example... Chelsea have just under 2 weeks between their previous game and their next game. During that time, we'll have played 4 games. It's just a very different level of freshness. Yes you want matches every week for building rhythm, but midweek games throw off that rhythm and tend to go more in the tiredness side of things. Relentless midweek games just kills you. Every time.
I'm no expert on these things, but listening to players discussing the difference between emptying yourself at the 90 minute mark, contra leaving the pitch 15 minutes earlier with 10% still left in your tank, makes me believe it represent a bigger differences physically than the difference in minutes suggests. Yes, the upcoming fixture is crazy, but you also need to be physically prepared for it, and 60 minutes against Reading or Nottingham might contribute to fitness rather than fatigue. I don't know, but it would be interesting to have a fitness coach's input on this. Anyone?

After the first leg result, I can see Forest putting out their reserves! There’s zero mileage in them playing their first team and risking injuries and fatigue!

How is Dalot's fintness coming along? Would be a good game for him to return.

    De Gea
    Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Malacia
    Casemiro - Fred
    Antony - Bruno - Garnacho
    Weghorst
Hopefully we put the tie to bed quickly in the first half so we can take Casemiro and Bruno off in the second half.

We would be mad to start Casemiro or Bruno. McFred aren't world beaters but should be more than enough to not lose by more than 2 goals to relegation fodder.

I’ve no idea what the team is going to be but please for the love of god don’t risk Casemiro or Rashford. The transfer market is shut and if anything happens to them our season could be derailed

    Heaton

    Williams Varane (45minutes) Maguire Malacia

    Fred Mainno

    Pellistri Sancho garnacho

    Martial

    Butland
    Dalot/AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw/Malacia
    Mainoo Fred
    Pellistri Antony Garnacho
    Martial/Weghorst

The slashes are just fitness dependent. Whilst ETH said we'd be playing a strong squad he can't really say no I'll be playing a weak side can he

Might be a good game to try Martinez in midfield, alongside Fred. Surely Casemiro can be rested for this one

    Is Sabitzer unavailable for this?

Yeah will be in Directors Box tonight a la Weghorst against City, hopefully plays some part on Saturday after couple of days training but that decision is down to Erik

Sabitzer cannot play, he is not registered in time for the cup. Dalot, Shaw, Williams & Mctominay are out and Sancho and Martial will return to the squad selection but are 99% unlikely to start, I think we will go with the following:

    DDG
AWB Varane Lindelof Malacia (Shaw & Dalot out, Varane hasn't played for 2 games so could do with some minutes in what should be a quiet afternoon)
    Casemiro Fred (No other choices)
Antony Bruno Rashford (No other choice at #10 and don't think he will start Pellistri/ Elanga but either one + Sancho could come in for some minutes)
Weghorst (Martial to get some minutes)

I would try rest Case and Rashford.

We don't really have the bodies to be resting much more then that.

Hard to see a situation where Casemiro doesn't start. I'd be ok Mainoo starting next to him for this, but probably not with Fred.

Given who's available, I reckon we'll opt with:

    DDG

    AWB
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Malacia

    Case
    Mainoo

    Elanga
    Bruno
    Garnacho

    Weghorst

Martial & Sancho on second half, Pellistri and Fred to save Bruno and Case's legs after an hour. Wouldn't be against Williams being included to look after our wing-backs. If Shaw's out with Dalot, we need to be careful there.

Still in 4 comps…the club could have helped out their new manager a little more I feel in this window.
