It's so mad, the players had a huge game against Barcelona on Thursday night, wouldn't have gone to bed until long after midnight with the adrenaline, then get one day of rest, then next day travel down to Wembley, then the match on Sunday. I'm crossfaded but that just seems like such a toll on the body and mind. If we had 2 days more between the games, I'd be feeling super confident about this. As it is, I am a bit worried about Newcastle's energy levels compared to ours but not worried about them on a football level.

That's my worry too. There is no way we can maintain the same intensity as Newcastle especially after playing a game 2 days ago!

I wonder if he’ll freshen the team up, especially in midfield, and perhaps play Sabitzer from the start?

Martinez was there signing autographs until midnight!

DDG, Shaw, Varane, martinez, dalot, Casemiro, Fred, Antony, bruno, sancho, rashford.
Should be the team but I know weghorst will start up top again.

I just think we'd blow there defenders away with our quick movement especially the big 3 at centre half and left back. They wouldn't like Garnacho in behind.

we could do that with our usual line-up - playing all those players out of position is more likely going to hurt us than them. Why take the risk when the familiar line-up is proven and just beat Barca?

    DDG
    Dalot Varane Martinez Shaw
    Casemiro Sabitzer
    Antony Bruno Sancho
    Rashford

Not confident, because of the inevitable fatigue, but we should be able to score 1 or 2

De Gea, Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Fred, Bruno, Antony, Weghorst, Rashford.

Sancho and Garnacho excellent bench options should rashford get moved centrally. I think if Fred and Casemiro nullify Guimares, you take a huge amount out of a Newcastle team that already struggles to create. Breaking them down is the real challenge, hopefully they have some jitters with new GK and while theyre resolute they arent an especially fast back line.

I'm not confident but I'll optimistically go for 3-1 United

Saint-Maximin always has a good game against us when hes fit too.

Maguire has been talking a bit much, I have a horrible feeling he might start.
There is of course the possibility that ETH doesn’t want to risk Varane and will play Maguire instead. Two intense matches in a short time is not ideal for him, however Maguire and Martinez would probably struggle with their speedy forwards so I don’t think Maguire is an option.

I think Rashford is not injured. At 2:05 is his car

The same car as this one:

The brazenness is astounding, we all accept it happens to some degree and expect ourselves to do it a bit. But to celebrate it as a virtue and for it t be your main game plan … get in the bin.
Yeah but they spent some time with Simeone so it's fine?

I’ve never been so excited for a league cup final match but with how this season is going and not having won a trophy in years this game is huge. Hopefully we batter these and jealous of all the people going to the game

Fatigue won't be an issue, the ball will only be in play for about 25 mins due to the way Newcastle piss arse about.

For so much of this season you could pretty much guarantee what the starting 11 would be but now I find myself questioning what the team will be.

    Sabitzer or Fred?
    Antony? Sancho? Garnacho?
Wout start or Rashford up top?

    I’d probably prefer

    DDG
    Bissaka-Varane-Martinez-Shaw
    Cas- Sab
    Antony-Bruno-Sancho
    Rashford
    Think he’ll go

    DDG
    Bissaka-Varane-Martinez-Shaw
    Cas- Fred
    Bruno-Sancho-Rashford
    Wout

Energy level will be key for us. If we are are still tired from the midweek game I worry we struggle

This interview is part of his shithousery. He is trying to frustrate ETH and players in advance, and get them to focus on the wrong things. When they start to disrupt the game, waste time, etc it will have extra psychological effect if we start to be concerned about it already now.
Could do, but could also alert the referee to what they get up to as well. It could backfire. Also not sure if it is in the clubs interest to go from Lucky Old Newcastle being bought to Cheating Newcastle the Scumbags.
