I was surprised to see that Newcastle only have one league win in 2023. That's poor. We really should be winning this, with or without Rashford.
They’re certainly coming into this with poor form with only 1 win in their last 7 league games. However, there defensive resilience is what worries me. Only conceded 15 this season. Best in the league and annoying as feck to play against. Especially in a final.

Our season was already legendary when we won the coveted Bangkok Century Cup, but sure it would be nice to add another trophy tomorrow.
The Bangkok cup is what broke Nunez with his absolute sitter miss against us.

Bruno on the left? Sancho and Garnacho up front? No thanks - not the game for experimenting.
I just think we'd blow there defenders away with our quick movement especially the big 3 at centre half and left back. They wouldn't like Garnacho in behind.

We will get a chance to score early I feel and we need to take advantage. That should open them up a bit and make it much easier. Going down or having it scoreless in the 2nd half will work in their favor

An early goal for us will make it a comfortable win I think. I just hope we remain patient and don’t get frustrated with their tactics. No doubt they’ll try to slow the game down at every opportunity.

It’s no surprise Leeds and Newcastle are the 2 teams who have had the ball in play the least in the league. Only 51%. Crazy their games are only 45 mins of “football”!

I'll watch 30 minutes of football if it means we win haha. In the end time wasting only helps if you win. If we score late and they've screwed themselves on time I don't see how it's a good tactic

I just hope St Maximim has a quiet game. He always becomes prime Ginola against us.

just hope we win. everything can happen in such games but we should have it in us. will be a big blow if rashy cant start

I bet their tactics will involve time wasting till it gets to penalty and hope for a 50:50 chance to win it as opposed to 70:30 without penalty shootout.

An early goal will get the match going...finals don't come around very often so lets all just enjoy the match!

    C'mon United!

It’s a Cup Final. Form really doesn’t matter a whole lot. They will be trying to keep it tight I would imagine and we will be looking to score early. The longer it stays at 0-0 the more they will believe.

Emphatic United win followed by an announcement that the Glazers aren’t selling, so the backlash is watered down by a trophy and their attendance to an actual match

Can’t think of a worse team for us to be up against in the cup final. It’s gonna be a slog of an evening tomorrow. Let’s hope it’s an ETH masterclass

Feeling some nerves is unavoidable, but looking at it logically I just can't see how we lose. We have far more experience and quality in the team. We're in great form. Newcastles keeper situation.

The only concern I have is that the Geordie fanbase will be absolutely rocking, and that will lift the team.

Barcelona have only conceded 7 this season - but we put 4 past them.

This man is committed and focused!

I have little doubt that ETH is focussed and committed

but does everyone really believe these are actual sources from these random Twitter accounts or simply what gullible fans want to hear?

Bizarrely I'm less amped up about this game than our barca clash , I'd guess the high on that one is hard to top but nevertheless it's always nice to see United play in a final even if it's a Mikey mouse one and besides it's a wonderful jumping point to instil that winning mentality.

I don’t want hear ‘plucky underdog‘ Newcastle from the media tomorrow and how money doesn‘t guarantee success being aimed at us as a slight. Let’s not forget they spent around £250m themselves in the past year. They are absolutely not some pauper going up against the prince.

I’m getting more and more nervous about this.

Same. Have a feeling it will be a difficult game. Out of 23 games in the PL they’ve only lost two. Also only conceded 15 goals, think it’s the lowest in the PL.

Just need to play at a high intensity from the start and hope to get a few past their keeper.
My worry is a slow start like Leicester or first half Barca.

They will be slightly leggy so usually, they tend to start slower in the 1st half but start to kick on in the 2nd.

Barcodes with a week's prep will start off fast & furious unless the nerves/occasion kicks in. Then jittery, sideways passing.

Can't see us losing this. We have too many big game players. We have a lot of momentum and are in better form than them. That said, i do think it will be a tight game. 2-1 i reckon.

After the 2005 United v Arsenal FA Cup final, where we pummelled them and yet lost on pens, you just cant take anything for granted.

A little over 12 hours to go and the nerves are already kicking in. Brain is going through every worst case scenario imaginable-tired players, conceding a dodgy penalty/deflected goal/out of nowhere worldie, going to penalties etc. etc. But then I think how utterly amazing it would be if we score early and then demolish them to a cruising victory. I wouldn't trade this for the world, cup finals are incredible.

Come on United! Just win. Our season won't be defined by this, but a win is what our players and the coaching staff deserve for bringing us back from where we were.

    Nerves definitely kicking in.

hopefully Rashford is ok to start. Garnacho is much better off the bench I think.

I’m sure the boss is prepared either way. Can’t wait!

It's so mad, the players had a huge game against Barcelona on Thursday night, wouldn't have gone to bed until long after midnight with the adrenaline, then get one day of rest, then next day travel down to Wembley, then the match on Sunday. I'm crossfaded but that just seems like such a toll on the body and mind. If we had 2 days more between the games, I'd be feeling super confident about this. As it is, I am a bit worried about Newcastle's energy levels compared to ours but not worried about them on a football level.

Might sound crazy but I wasn't worry about them like I'm now against Newcastle. Barca barely have any pace and we had Rashford. If Rashford can play even if he can't start I'd be much more confident.

Imo if Rashford can't start we should start a bit slow, focus on keeping the ball and see how things go rather than going all out gung ho at kick off. Newcastle have a lot of pace and might hit us on the break if we push our line too high. If they score they'll sit very deep and it'd be much more difficult for us to break them down in that case. If we can score great if not try to keep it at least 0-0 by half time, bring Rashford on and finish them off in the second half like we usually do in the last matches.

Anyway I'm confident ETH would win us this.

Yea, its mad. I was wondering if we needed to prioritise one or the other (Europa or League cup) but perhaps I have been conditioned to our semi mediocrity the past few years to be in that mindset. In the Fergie era we just rolled on with it, and perhaps we can ride on the momentum to steamroll Newcastle even with the physical toll. Would have been more ideal to have the likes of Eriksen and Martial available to really have depth, but I am sure our mentality and quality will get us through - back to elite standards hopefully

I’m getting more and more nervous about this.
Feeling it now! Much like Barca, if we can avoid their antics I think we’ll have too much for them.

Hoping Howe reacts to ETH’s ‘annoying’ remark and tries to play on the front foot. That’d give us the advantage.

    Come on United!
