I'd rather play Blind, and only use Fletcher as a last resort. Or give him total defensive duties and put a decent passer beside him. You are right though, we might not have a choice.

I rather play Blind too, but he's still injured. We might have Fellaini back, but I rather have him fit for Spurs and Stoke, like Roo, and since LVG doesn't rate Herrera, he might play.

How far is Blind with his recovery. The last think i heard about him was that he was at his parents house and that he had food poisoning before Aston Villa match.. We need him in midfield to dictate the tempo with Carrick ASAP.

I would like to see something like:

    -----------------De Gea---------------------
    ---------Jones---Carrick---Rojo------------
    Rafa--------------Blind------------Shaw/Young
    ------------Rooney-----Di Maria--------------
    ----------------RVP--Falcao------------------

RVP dropping back in number 10 role. This team could really dictate play from the back through Carrick and Blind and could be very flexible in front.
In my opinion Carrick and Blind are two of the most intelligent players in the team. They will provide fantastic balance in the team. With both in the same eleven we can afford to be a bit top heavy and play all three of Rooney, RVP and Falcao.

Reports says that he'll be back at 28th december, so I doubt it. Not the worst position to have an injury atm though..It's worse with the midfield if we still have Herrera(injury), Blind(injury) and Fellaini(ill) out...Van Gaal hasn't updated us on this yet. Good thing is that Di Maria is fully fit again, we really need him. Hopefully Rojo will be ready too, so he can take Evans place. Carrick needs to play CM and not CB. So if it turns out that Fella, Herrera and Blind is still out, I'd like to see Pereira together with Carrick and Di Maria instead of Fletcher, who really struggled against Villas midfield. At top I'd like to see Rooney behind RvP and Falcao, because Newcastle has a pretty strong team which doesn't suit Mata well. Wilson, Mata and Januzaj as our jokers to put on if we need goals.
LvG should have given Perreira the chance against Villa.

How long will people bang about 150 mil when all of our additions have been injured a while and I dont know when did they last play together.

They're repeating that like a mantra and it's annoying.

Anyway they lost at home to Sunderland, we really should beat them although I know football doesnt work like that.
To be fair people bang on about it because it was unprecedented. If we spend like Madrid every season then it would not be talked about as much.

    ---------------De Gea-----------------
    Rafael-----Jones-----Rojo--------Young
    ----------------Carrick----------------
    --------Herrera--------Di Maria---------
    -----------------Mata-----------------
    -----------Rooney----Falcao-----------

    Please LVG.
I hope to see something like this for once Although I'm pretty sure LVG will not try this team. He may play RVP instead of Mata and switch him with Rooney, And if Fellaini fit he will play him the guy just dosen't like Herrera for sorry.

    I'd like to see

    ----------------DDG--------------------
    Rafa-----Jones-----Blackett------Shaw
    ---------------Carrick-------------------
    -----Herrera-----------Di Maria--------
    -----------------Mata--------------------
    ---------Falcao------------Rooney--------

The midfield V formation with Mata-Herrera- Di Maria was some of the best passing i have seen from MUFC this season. It was almost spooky how easily mata and herrera found passes to each other under constant pressure.

Offensively, that is the best line up with the combo of Di Maria, Mata and Herrera with their link-up play and Falcao & Rooney up front. The Problem is though is the counter, with the fullbacks pushing up to give the team width, united will get caught out from wide areas of the pitch. Leicester did that to United with Vardy... bloody Vardy, and he was always wide and stretching the defense. I'd be Andy Tate saying "dont care" if united had a decent back line, but united doesnt and that calls for concerns when united wants to commit the pressure on opposition and then gets caught out. So i'd have to put Felliani there just for his physical presence because even though he cant complete a 2 yard pass, he can break the play up and bully the midfield with his strength. either swap him with Herrera or Mata for Felliani, and i doubt Shaw will go straight into the team, considering Young is playing well it'll be awhile and a sub off the bench to impress the gaffer.

Why? Rafa can play wing back and maybe better than valencia. Well we shall see

Because if we have two CB's and two natural full backs available Van Gaal won't want to play 5-3-2 again. He's only been playing it to solidify the defence with no natural wide defenders.

Sorry but you cant put three of them up front, just going to cause alot of confection up there. More or less you have to either drop one of them or put one of them in a no. 10 role atleast, which Rooney can fit in nicely. Other than that it is a decent line up attacking wise but its too unbalanced. You have to consider the back four united has, thats why LVG has rarely introduced the 433 into the team even though that's his preferred formation. I doubt we'll ever see him play a 433 until he gets the right players in defense and on the wings. untill then either the diamond 442 or 352 which isnt my favorite but its working atm..

If the scouting infrastructure is operating as required as the squad being managed properly, a club shouldn't need to spend like that at all.

I do not agree with you. I think that lvg wants to play 352. And he will stick with it.

    Sweet...
We'll probably move to a diamond as soon as Rafael and Shaw are back playing until then 352

Pardew's been holding a pity party for Moyes in his pre-match press conference i hear.

"The board has backed LVG where they refused to so for Dave"...or some such nonsense.

Allardyce acted likewise ahead of West Ham's trip to OT as i recall, hopefully the team can make another manager swallow back their presumption.

That's it in a nutshell, Rafa, Shaw fit = back 4.
Not fit, Young, Valencia in a 352.

Its basically comes down to that really. Valencia and Young are not natural full backs which is obvious and are no good positioning themselves defensively, they're great tracking back but positioning and marking players is not their strength.

Di Maria is fit though or should be
He played against Villa and wasn't scintilating. We have a chance if Carrick in midfield, but if the defence cockup again, then back he will go. Hopefully they will all be back for Spurs and Stoke. I wonder if Fellaini has had the flu, a tummy bug and you would think he'd be back.

There again, it depends if he considers Fellaini as one of the injured players.

I rather play Blind too, but he's still injured. We might have Fellaini back, but I rather have him fit for Spurs and Stoke, like Roo, and since LVG doesn't rate Herrera, he might play.
 seriously where this rubbish come from? Is it all stemming from that bullshit article with a swap deal for Shaquri from Bayern?

So no Afro and Herrera for this..
This will start getting interesting. Anyways home match.. I would expect us to get 'em

XI in my opinion should be

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Evans - Young
    Carrick
    Rooney - Di Maria
    Mata
    v. Persie - Falcao

    XI LVG will field:

    De Gea
    Jones - Evans - Blackett
    Carrick
Valencia - Rooney - Di Maria - Young
    v. Persie - Falcao

We should really win, but it's going to be close with our 3-1-4-2 system...

11 in my opinion should be

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Evans - Young
    Valencia Carrick Rooney
    Mata
    V. Persie - Di Maria

    XI LVG will field:

    De Gea
    Jones - Evans - Blackett
    Carrick
Valencia - Rooney - Di Maria - Young
    v. Persie - Falcao

Losing Valencia and RVP killed us last week, yes wing play is terrible and boring to watch but we looked like scoring with two wingers and two strikers rather than 1 winger and no target man as Falcao was burnt out towards the end.

The problem with starting AY & AV our tendency to only rely on them for supply rather than more able players like Mata, Di Maria, Rooney, Carrick and Falcao to create chances.

Best thing to do to avoid that is either; not start them ( out of the question as both are not playing bad, plus injuries) or occupy them with other duties such as covering for Di Maria's & Mata's defensive frailties while they attack with RVP as the focal point and Carrick as orchestrator and Rooney as the link ( defense to attack).

    DDG
    Valencia
    Jones
    Carrick
    Evans
    Young
    Rooney
    Di Maria
    Mata
    RvP
    Falcao

I'd like to see that, hopefully with Carrick pushing further into the midfield more often rather than just being the third defender.

Due to this being a home game and Newcastle not in the best form right now, I can see not much change from the team that started against Aston Villa.

    de Gea
    Valencia Jones Evans Young
    Carrick
    Rooney Di Maria
    Mata
    van Persie Falcao

However, I would honestly like to see us drop one of Mata, van Persie, or Falcao for Blackett to give us a bit more balance. Phil Jones could go into a back three or midfield, or even right back, with Rooney either in the hole or as a striker depending on who was 'dropped'.

Have to keep the unbeaten run going, but if we do really have any title ambitions then wins over the Christmas period are pivotal. Not that I think we can win the league this time... But dropping points in games like this will open us up into a race for top four that I honestly think we can be well out of. We will probably be the team who are going to pull far enough away from fourth, but not close enough to second or first (which is probably where we deserve to be this season).

The prospect of Blackett/Evans Vs Ayoze/Sissoko fills me with dread, they shit themselves whenever they are up against players confident enough to run at them and take them on

    --Jones--Evans--Blackett/Smalling
    -----------Carrick---------------
    ---Fellaini-----Rooney----
    -----------di Maria------
    ------Falcao ---RvP-------

Assuming that Fellaini was ill last Monday and not injured.

    Supposedly Fellaini still not available.

    Ideally I'd like to see:

    de Gea
    Rafael Jones Evans/Smalling Young
    Carrick
    Fellaini/Valencia Di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney Falcao
