We were better team, should have won. Had the better chances, i think rooney is not our type of striker, we need someone who can play on last man rooney drops too deep and his touch is well shit. He was outmuscled by kompany. Great game for our schmidfield and herrera. I think man for man we dominated that game. I like the progress we made but after that game we should have won.

City came for a point. Subbing Toure for Demichelis showed it all

For me, the second Mata came off, City was back in the game, cause we couldn't maintain the ball as high on the pitch

We were the better side and take the circumstances into account; we should have won this. So tired of us playing Rooney.. Martial needs to lead the line. We still lack a winger who can take on his man, Memphis needs to step up. Rojo solid, so gave him MOTM. Martial decent to. Shame Lingard couldn't score but he did the best he couuld, though. Smalling's chance too.. With a little luck we would have won but there's no denying we didn't create enough chances, a theme under LvG..

Not when we are playing at home and them missing two of their best players.

Watch them comeback and tears us a new one in the reverse fixture.

    Shut up moaning ffs.

3 would have been better but remaining 2 behind is far better than being 5 behind.

    Perspective people.

City learning how to draw away in the champions league... This is what it reminded me of. City will be happy and I think the united players will be ok with it as well...

I thought Lingard did quite well. I didnt think Mata wasnt very good today and he made a big mistake just before he got a yellow card while trying to make up for his mistake.

Done more for this club than you ever have. Have a word with yourself.
totally agree with you devil. More goals than any other player in a Manchester derby, going to be the club's all-time top scoring soon and unlike lots of forwards drops back to defend - and does it well. Anyone criticising him is blind

Aahahhahah. It is sad cuz you are right.

Haha. All I'll ever do on here is be honest mate; even if it offends.

United are horrendous to watch. Can't see many neutrals tuning in to see this current brand of football.

I'm not saying otherwise. I'm saying that we no longer could contain the ball high up the pitch. Thats not due to lingard coming on, rather mata off.

I think that Rooney was one of our better players today. I struggle to see what he did wrong?
Probably miscontrolled a ball or something.
Nobody had any idea of how to win it. City defended well but we looked bereft of ideas around their penalty area. Martial has to play as the main striker and Rooney needs a rest for a game or two. Give Lingard a chance. Unless Schweini was knackered, I saw no point in taking him off. Fellaini did well and maybe he should have come on for Rooney but Van Gaal won't hook him.
That's fair I think. Don't agree with the assessment on Rooney who didn't have a bad game I feel (I felt the Schweini/Schneidi/Herrera trio was much more problematic).

Bossed the game, bosses possesion, broke down their attacks.

But had no real bite up front.

Martial needed to be moved central for at least the last 25 mins of the game.
Thats what most of us wanted to see really. But I guess LVG was afraid of playing Memphis.

Well, Barca are drawing viewers right? Don't get me wrong, all i am saying is that we can play possession football if we have better attack. The game against City today is perfect example. We were def. not slow until the final pass. The problem is not in keeping the ball, it is how fast you keep it. There is no fluidity in our attack. If the players feel more comfortable with each other and make runs which receive those through passes, i recon it will dramatically change the look of our football.

At the moment though, not great at all.

As an example, Sanchez changed Arsenal so so much. If Depay hits a form and we have Martial up top, with passers like Mata and Bastian, i feel the actual attacks will be way better looking.

I agree with this, it was like we had two of three parts sussed in this match. We were just missing the threat in the final third, lets not forget city defended very well too. We had a few chances we would of put away on another day.

I'm glad we weren't embarrassed, which can and has happened against this lot. I also think if they had Silva and/or Aguero, it would have been different. It's bittersweet a draw to say the least.

I just find the assessment of Rooney to be madness. 4.5? That's just nonsense. He deserves at least a 6.5/7. 4.5 suggest he made mistakes that led to goals or was absolute garbage. He did neither. And his play was not 'pub' level, just laughable.

This place has become absolutely horrendous for rating Rooney, it's really ridiculous.

I always defend Rooney but today was just poor, he lost every single aerial duel pretty much, failed to control most passes properly, ruined a few chances... he offered us nothing today basically. A 5 is a fair rating for him.

6/7 would suggest he played well. His performance was far from decent. As the main striker for Man United, he was borderline rubbish. He did nothing a good forward should do. And his first touch is ridiculously bad.

He needs some time on the bench to sort himself out.

Loses the ball far too often. His decision making isn't the best either. He'll beat a man, make space, but he won't look up for a teammate. Needs a bit more coaching I think but he's finding the English game a much bigger proposition than the Dutch.

"55% passing accuracy for Wayne Rooney. No shots on target. No chances created. Lost possession five more times than any other player."

Yeh, not a bad game at all for Rooney. You guys are just trolling now.

Yes he has, but you can only play like crap for so long and continue to play at this club, you've got to know when his number is up and its all but up right now, your only as good as your last game.

Oh I totally agree. I'm not even a Rooney fan anymore. But comments such as 'if you don't try and force him out of the club you are a disgrace' , in amongst a sea of other total disrespect to someone who has actually done a lot for United, I find it pathetic.

Yep, he defiantly has to be dropped first to see if that gets the fire in his belly roaring again because its out at the moment and a rooney with no fire is nothing and if that doesn't work writing is on the wall for rooney.

@walkinhop United's football is nothing like Barca's at all. Barca are incredibly entertaining to watch at all times because they have penetration all across the attack. They operate a system of ball retention and quick probing, trying to find the space beyond the defensive line and recycling play when they can not. United play boring, risk-free keep ball tactics. Just because both teams play with a view to dominating possession doesn't mean the styles are similar in any way.

Yup, it looks like this because we don't have the quality up top and the mentality is quite new. Just because we are not doing a good job of it, it doesn't mean the idea is not there. Also, the players are different, no?

We don't have to play exactly like Barcelona. My point is that this "risk-free" keep ball wouldn't exist if we had a more fluid team with movement and a bit more speed. Martial is not enough to open defenses and we can't expect him to be consistent at this point. If we had a couple of quicker, explosive players instead of Mata and Rooney, our attack wouldn't be as boring. We both know Herrera and Bastian can pass, what we lack is movement.

Hart and post and bar.. Phew!!!
I feel that after Mata was subbed, maybe we should have asked Rooney to take over the wings and play Martial up front.

    Lingard for Mata was strange.

If he'd come on for Rooney and shifted Martial up front that may have made for a game winning substitution.

Rooney wont get subbed or dropped. Period.

There's still an even tenner on offer with me that if current form continues he gets dropped before the end of November. Proceeds to charity.

I actually reckon just one more performance like that and he's benched.
