We’re almost exclusively losing crucial games in the last year. 7 of our 10 losses:

    - Liverpool away (biggest game of the league season)
    - Chelsea (eliminated from a cup)
    - Sevilla (eliminated from a cup)
    - Arsenal home (big game awful performance)
    - Paris home (needed a point to qualify)
    - Leipzig away (eliminated from a cup)
    - City home (eliminated for a cup)

When the pressure is on we just don’t seem to deliver.

I'm sorry, but Ole has no idea when faced with an attack. Another failure, his fourth.

I understand why Maguire let that ball go but I'd rather see him stick a foot out and score an own goal than let the opponent score a tap in. Sometimes you have to take the risk. Either way, City deserved to win today. I'd like to say it's only the League Cup but I'd be lying to myself. I wanted to win this one...

Would rather lose to these cnuts than Jose

And lose the positive momentum a win here and a decent performance would have had, instead of maybe seeing the confidence dropping back down? I wouldn't. Would have fancied us against Spurs. Just hope this doesn't derail the recent form.

    Interesting.

    I thought we played well
    2 set pieces goals
We look like a very good Team again
The 1st goal was always going to important

Nice to see some reason in amongst the hysteria. I agree entirely, we've let ourselves down tonight with our poor final ball.

As usual Martial will be the scapegoat when everyone was far worse. Bruno with a proper 1/10 horror show

Best team won. We were like when I started PES and I just kept wondering why my oppo keeps banging them in and I can't even get close to the other box despite having all the ball.

    Best team won.

Not huge margins and a little fortune but it's not like we've hit the woodwork 5 times or refs been awful.

Not our night, think silverware would have helped this group (mentally) but got some big games coming and need to refocus.
This. Close game, we created opportunities but the forwards were off it tonight and they took their chances.

Saving grace is it’s only the Haribo cup, next two games are the most important, hopefully we use this to refocus and raise our game.

This annoys me the most. Today is only carabao cup, tomorrow will be "it is only FA cup" then Europa league...
Both teams played with best 11. That shows that clubs want this trophy. As it should be
We also rested players for a fa cup semi final about 4 months ago. I dont think strength of side necessarily translates to how hungry a side is. Wpuld we have played a full strength side if it was Liverpool on the weekend and not Watford?
We played a full side because its against City and was decided on fine margins. Theres nothing to over analyse here.
Hell I would go Klopp route and just bin cup games as early as I could.
No point in using this as confirmation bias

Would rather lose to these cnuts than Jose
They are way ahead of Spurs.

Spurs will look to use Son and Kane on the break. Isolate Kane and they will win comfortably. Spurs were outplayed at time by Brentford who have no real quality

To be fair Maguire was great today.

Don't know why I'm not really bothered by this result. Usually I'm fuming and knee jerking like everyone else.
    Not tonight.
They were the better team, we got a reality check leading up to Liverpool game. Roll on Watford and Burnley.

Yes, just beaten by the better team tonight, but not in such a way that there’s a lack of hope for the next time the teams meet. Some good things but needed a big performance from one of Martial or Pogba which didn’t quite materialise.

    Dreadful in attack today

Martial, Bruno and Rashford we’re shocking

Massive mistake not playing Bailly as well we sit far too deep without him.

    shite

Think its more of a issues of quality. City have better players than us, by some distance too.
Our front 4, especially Bruno against 60 year old Fernandinho and Rashford against Zinchenko should have won this game for us. More than enough quality there. Also, we have better players in terms of quality than Chelsea and Sevilla. It’s the lack of cojones and winning mentality that has cost us so many times recently. I don’t care about the Carabao Cup and like many others, I am miffed about tonight but not seriously pissed off like I would be after a PL or CL loss. However, we just wilt in any reasonably big occasion, which is concerning. Hope it doesn’t happen in the league. We didn’t bottle top 4 last year, but going for the title is an entirely different kettle of fish.

Fair result. OGS needs to learn how to press, how to get the ball back - all those are tactical things.

Also, must say that this Ruben Diaz is a solid player...

I'm afraid Ole has no idea about buying defenders
Our coaching team haven't a clue about how to set up to defend corners. Defensively we are all over the place. On the first goal and the second. It is abject defending. Experience top quality (supposedly) players unable to close down the ball. I never thought I would be saying that City were better defensively than us, with John effing Stones in the side. I mean, come on.

Martial and Rashford have been so poor. I feel for Rashford because he’s on the right which he doesn’t like. My main issue is it wasn’t working for 60 minutes but as usual Ole doesn’t make any changes until the 70th plus minute when the game is done.

Rashford played well. If Cavani had been CF he nods in that brilliant cross into the 6 yard box and it’s 1-1 and a different game.

They were dominant team from first minute to last

Hysterical rubbish. They started well, but didn't really create anything. The difference was a couple of set piece goals, along with us wasting opportunities with a poor final ball.

    Disappointing, particularly second half.

We're making progress, yes, but knocked out in a SF again by a far superior side, so is it near the progress some of us would like to believe?

Not on Ole at all tonight though, we just weren't good enough.

    Onwards!

Best team won. We were like when I started PES and I just kept wondering why my oppo keeps banging them in and I can't even get close to the other box despite having all the ball.
