Im really not liking all this cockiness from a lot of our fans and even our manager sounding over confident. Even the pundits seem to be backing us for once are predicting we will "punish City". With the Tottenham and Liverpool games it was their fans getting cocky and I was thinking I cant wait for this to come back and bit you in the arse and luckily for us it did.

I just hope its not the over way around this time. I am confident yes but im not getting ahead of myself, anything could happen.

    Come on United!!!!!!!

Ive worked out why most pundits are bitter former Liverpool players....they didnt achieve feck all as players playing for Liverpool so need the extra income as pundits once they retire.

I can count on 1 hand former utd players who are pundits lol. Everyone else is bitter former pool players.

If we play decently well tomorrow but lose, will those of the dramatic variety on here go apeshit again or will you be able to handle it? Because it is very possible.

Personally I'll handle it no bother, whatt I won't handle so well is Liverpool closing in again knowing our next game is Chelsea away, I won't like that at all.

    Lineup for tomorrow. CONFIRMED.

    United XI vs City:

De Gea - Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Blind - Ander Herrera, Carrick, Fellaini - Mata, Rooney, Ashley Young

...? On the RedNews site I'm guessing if you say it's confirmed?

How is it confirmed? I could believe this though, I do think LVG prefers Jones to Smalling for some reason.

RedNews have a contact who releases team news early, pretty sure they sent a tweet out earlier saying they had the team for the game tomorrow so it's probably from there. If true, I'm disappointed that Smalling isn't in but otherwise that's as expected

the 2007/08 season fergie had one hell of a record against the top 4
    united 2 0 chelsea
    chelsea 2 1 united

    arsenal 2 2 united
    united 2 1 arsenal

    liverpool 0 1 united
    united 3 0 liverpool

13 points out of 18 that year
With a team that won the league and the Champions League. Van Gaal's only been in England 8 months and already got the measure of the leagues best and most experienced managers! It's impressive.

    LVG didnt sound overconfident imo.

I agree. He just said it is more difficult to play against teams that park the bus and do the long ball, which City do not do.

I believe this will be the first time that the players actually believe in themselves. If they use the same attitude as they did against Liverpool and Spurs they will have a good chance. With a bit of luck it is the City players that doubt themselves.

I thought all of this stuff was supposed to have stopped after last season? Also, if they are supposedly United fans, what good does it do us if they are releasing our line up a whole day before the game... Ridiculous.

I guess it means that we have another leak in the club/team.

What scratches my head, is a few think United play an open game, under VG since the Leicester defeat does some of the pundits think United will play an open game. On this role we have been on, we don't really play this so called naive open game, like VG says play with the heads not the heart

Like most, I'm pretty confident. We have a keeper who's outperformed every other in the league. We have a settled team and have found our best formation. We are confident and in good form. We have good morale and belief in what we're doing while City seems very unsure of themselves.

I think it's a bigger game for City. Their manager's job is under threat as well as alot of people behind the scenes. Their players and fans would have expected to be challenging for the title and that's pretty much gone now. A loss here and they are definitely scrapping for top 4. Also it would create more doubt in Pelligrini and continue their poor form. On the other hand, the game gives them a chance to instill some more belief and turn things around for them. I think they'll certainly raise their game but if we can withstand that and score early, they might fade. Plus if we beat them today, both of our seasons could go off in different directions.

I'm looking forward to the game, not least because our last few performances have been good to watch. I'm too superstitious to give a score prediction for this though so I'm not that confident.

We need to keep our feet on the ground. Unlike last year, and perhaps earlier in the season, I am not going into this match scared. Yet City are still a side chocked full of good players and they need a win. The media has hyped us to high heaven, as have the fans, after two good performances. It could all come off the rails in one game easily enough.

Definitely not going into this expecting a win. Hoping for one more like. We've lost the last four to City, so it'd be nice to at least come out of this unbeaten and keep adding points towards that goal of CL qualification.

Next game is Chelsea away, so getting a positive result against City is pretty important. Two defeats on the spin would be very painful, and very plausible.

In far too much tension for the game tomorrow.. but this is why I love football, c'mon United!!!

    Yes Match day is here!!!!

Absolutely buzzing for it, really hope we can give them a hiding but city will definately be a different team to the one that's played in recent weeks.

I would rather start the game with us being underdogs rather than sounding over confident. For this game, I don't care how we play as long as we get the 3 points

There seems to be so much media speculation that we are going to win, that I have this nasty feeling about today. So hope I'm wrong.....
Yup, got a very nervous feeling about today's game, only because a win would mean we've nearly cemented out top four place. A lose and we go back to looking over our shoulders, must win at all costs

quite a tricky game indeed. whether if we stick to our winning formulas or are about to make a twist. let's see

So I'm starting a new job at 6am tomorrow and this one will finish at 12:45am. I'll need to be up for 5am to get there on time giving me 4:15 sleep before my first day....

Do I watch it live and deal with it tomorrow or avoid it like the plague until I get home tomorrow afternoon and watch it on demand?

I've got bad memories of the games I watched OD this season, namely Villa away, Southampton, West Ham and Swansea..... But I could really do with making a good impression tomorrow.

It is a refreshing feeling that we are considered favourites. On the other hand, this is also worrying....
7.5 hours to go and I am already all excited. I have no idea how I will stay concentrated at work..

They always beat us lately. I don't feel to confident about this one. Hope I'm wrong.

Kompany possibly not playing would be a big boost.

Great to be meeting this lot with a good feeling about the team. It will be tight, but very do-able. Come on, United. We need WR back to his sharpest.

I'd prefer Jones - Smalling than Jones - Rojo. Those latter two aren't so strong together. Rojo - Smalling would work too.
