I don’t think we need to play five at the back. I’d much rather win the midfield battle and I think that a diamond of Matic, Fred, McT and Bruno would do just that. I’d play Martial and Greenwood up top and bring on Ighalo if we need more presence in the box. The back five works best when we have Rashford because he’s actually rapid rather than Martial who is simply “fast” and James who may be very fast In full flight but rarely gets to those speeds and certainly can’t do it with the ball at his feet.

If Bissaka is out we go with 5 at the back with Maguire also out then we could possibly use either fred as a left wingback or mctominay as a right wingback as either of them are better options than dalot or shaw being moved to a wing back position and having Jones in central defence!

Got a horrible feeling if James is injured, ole is going to go with lingard starting up top as a wide forward on the right.

I can bet everything I have that there is no way Lingard is starting. Ole now knows more than anyone that Lingard is a complete passenger and we can’t be carrying him especially against City.

I actually think if James had been fit, Lingard wouldn’t even be in the 18.

Maguire is in the squad according to Twitter.

Red devil central is the Twitter account. James in too.

Too late to put in my prediction unfortunately

For the first time in a long time I'm going into a City match with some confidence that we can get a result. Usually, I'm scared that City could blow us away by 3 or 4 goals.

Provided Chelsea see it out, I feel this is must win for fourth. Can't see us overturning six points in nine games otherwise.

No Matic feels like a major error. United just concede far less with him on average. See the 1-3 against City. All over the shop without him. Fairly solid with him.

    Well that escalated quickly.

How does James always keep getting a game? His method is being slightly not as bad as Lingard

Not playing Matic would be bonkers, we looked so much better when he came on against them in the league cup at home.

Matic is too slow against City's quick passing and movement.

Matic is extremely unlucky if that line-up leak is true. Rest I agree with, but Matic alongside Fred and Bruno would have been my pick.

Interesting team selection, strange no Greenwood seeing as he didn't play at all in midweek

I'm not fussed about no Matic, no need for him if playing a back 5

AWB isn't a wingback and Williams has not played well in a back 5. Our defence has been good recently with Maguire in top form. A back 5 at home is just poor.

We literally have first hand evidence from a month ago that heavily suggests that is not true. No goals conceded with him in 135+ minutes versus three goals in 45 minutes without him.

He was a very good wingback for Palace in his time there, and he constantly puts threatening balls into the box with his deliveries. We just lack the bite to actually put them away.

Is the leaked ones normally correct? How does someone know? Insider in the dressing room?

He wasn't replaced by McTominay though.

I'm much more confident with McTom and Fred than Pereira or whoever we replaced Matic with last time.

Don't agree with that. Palace played consistently a back four with van Aanholt with a licence to go forward and AWB in a more reserved right back role.
