Good lineup. Glad James is back in. No KdB is huge, but they still have a great side of course. Let's hope we put in a good performance.

Hmm I know we need Williams for the 5 at the back but I'd much rather Mctominay playing, even in the wing back role.

No KDB and Maguire being back. Has Ole pulled a Pep move on Pep? I can see we're going for pace on the counter as you'd expect, it's worked well against them this season, but so happy that if that doesn't work Ighalo could be a real pest for their defence and I kinda wanted him to start, but obviously doesn't fit so well with the tactic.

Harsh on Shaw, but if you’re going with a wing back instead of a left back I guess it makes sense. Can’t say I’m massively in love with the team, but let’s see how it goes.

Well, Matic played really well in the away game against them. Good lineup.

Zinchenko Otamendi Fernandinho Cancelo is a pretty band average defence considering they've spent hundreds of millions on full backs and defenders.

Would have preferred the diamond formation again as matic doeant deserve to be dropped, he has been one of our best players over recent games.

Awb at rwb in a back 5 is going to frustrating viewing again today.

Dodgy looking City back 4 but I don't see the firepower in our attack to test it :(

    Solid XI given the circumstances.

A shame this wasn’t to be the match Pogs came back.

Could have gone stronger with the lineup but then again City's doesn't look as intimidating either. Teams look pretty even to me. No De Bruyne and Mahrez not starting is a bonus. I'll be soo glad when Aguero fecks off back to Independiente.

    Knowing Ole it will be:

    DDG
    Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
    AWB - Fred - Matic - Williams
    Bruno
    James - Martial

    Easiest 14/11 in a while.

    @Samid

How do you know about the mind games?

Because Ole is a bad liar. Maguire was never injured/ill, that was just an excuse in case we had lost without him at Derby. I don't think AWB/James were injured either.

No they didn't AWB was constantly threatening on the flank for them. Even for us he's capable of some brilliant deliveries and no one is in the box for them, or some players (Martial) fail to make the right run (with the exception of that beautiful header vs Chelsea).

No he wasn't constantly threatening on the flank. They ran through the left with van Aanholt and Zaha. He has of course some output, like any fullback in the modern game. He can put in the odd cross and showed that against Chelsea.

But he, Shaw and Maguire in current form have shown that they can be trusted in a back 4. Williams hasn't played well at all in a back 5, looks lost. It's unnecessary and plays to City's strengths.

    James offers nothing, really.

I put what I feel he offers in my original post. Hopefully that is the case today.

Martial and Greenwood are too similar. James, whilst he's nowhere near as Rashford, is the closest we have to that style of player, which I feel is crucial when we play with split strikers.

Doesn’t look the most inspiring lineup, looks like we will be defending all match and kick it to James whenever we can.

Same people moaning about us being defensive would be frothing at the mouth if we went at them and allowed the game to be all over after half an hour.

We have no fecking clue how to play 352 and yet we come up with it in one of the most important games of this season. Expect us to be toyed around because none of our defenders along with the manager know how to operate in such formation. Mark my words.

Lingard and Pereira not on the bench.

    Progress is being made.
The changes to the squad/starting squad have slowly but surely been done, plus decent additions and a couple of youth players introduced.

The question is whether progress on the pitch is enough and who'll take it on next season. If it's not Ole, he's done a decent amount of groundwork for a new manager.

Solid XI to be honest. Won't believe injury news from Ole ever again.

My problem with James his best asset is pace yet he seems to never use it which is infuriating. Honestly cant remember the last time he took a defender on or ran into space for a pass he's been massively out of form for months.

Lets hope he's a bit sharper after missing the last few games, he did look tired.

That's the lineup we beat them with at Etihad, with Fernandes for Lingard and James for Greenwood.

That team should be causing City all sorts of problems, let’s see if we can up the anti and get a result here.

I hate the sight of Otamendi. Our defense can never handle him on set-pieces.
