We were completely open down Rashford and Dalot’s side all game. They could seemingly play through us at will from that side. We inexplicably didn’t sign a left back and now are playing a right back there.

We also have even less depth in midfield than last year with Hannibal and McT gone. If Ugarte gets injured we are royally screwed. We didn’t need 2 CBs we need 2 midfielders and got 1.

We need to consider switching to 3 at the back or something because what is out there is not working.

We beat them in a cup quarter.

We have constantly been embarrased by them and other top clubs. We finished 8th last season with a -ve GD and have lost 2 of our 3 games to start the season and have a -3 GD. This is the manager's 3rd season and there is no discernible style of play...

"We press high and try to win the ball back"

It is not a style of play of it doesn't work.

I am not changing any conversation. I am trying to learn that what should I be seeing and be encouraged by in a manager's third season.
Yes exactly, we beat them. You asked by when will we not be embarrassed by our biggest rival at home and that's the answer.

You say again that there's no discernable style of play... I've just given two examples of our style of play that have been consistent for at least a year if not longer. If you just can't see it then maybe that's on you.

Huh? How many trophies has RVN won as a coach? Why would we not be able to find an established managed??
Do you think any established managers would take the risk of coming here at the beginning of a season with this squad?

A weak midfield 2, consisting of a tired, spent, former legend and a young, very talented, but far from fully formed or developed youngster…….against a solid, highly mobile middle 3, who pressed with intensity, were quick to intercept our loose possession and passes and in possession, progressed the ball through our lines as quickly as possible.

Playing both Bruno and Zirzee up front and leaving our CM wide open, was never going to be anything but a disaster.

Why don't this guy say something bad about United so we can put an end to his misery? Ruud to take over as temporary manager. Rashford is out of form yet he starts every game, Onana is one of the worst No.1 in EPL. Dalot was constantly attack by Liverpool and we concede 2 goals on the left today and 1 last week. Does Erik learns anything??? No. Can't we play a 5-4-1 formation? Hope he gets sack by Christmas, or Ugarte and Hoijund save his job by going on a winning run.

Every freaking managers in EPL prays United keep Erik and their wishes got answered. Why on earth did Ineos keeps him??? And offer him a new deal??? He hasn't proven shit. 2 cups wins doesn't justify a contract renewal, those wins will only keep his job for now

Thing that infuriated me more was that Liverpool weren’t exactly anywhere near their best yet still brushed us aside with ease. Every time they went forward, it just felt like they were gonna score.

Don't think I'll be wasting anymore time at the weekend watching the team until this clown is gone.

There's no way that every player coming into the club is garbage and can't pass properly, nor the players already at the club all losing form at the same time.

It's either a lack of ideas or poor communication and execution of ideas. I was ok with a chance of a fresh start due to injuries and the cup win last year.

But we looked just as amateurish and embarassing as ever today. Previous two games nothing to write home about either. I want to keep supporting the team but it's difficult to want to keep watching when it's that poor.

Hope he goes soon and we try something fresh.

What are we arguing here? You think it's okay to get beaten constantly as long as we win a solitary game somewhere? Come on. We are Manchester United, not David Moyes' Everton.

Even 'park the bus' is a style of play. That doesn't mean that we should play that. We can't press effectively, we can't win the ball back, we can't play out of the back, we can't attack or create chances, we can't create overloads and we easily get countered. Just one or two successful instances in a game doesn't mean it's a style of play, unless everything Iisted is part of the plan.

This has been going on for 2+ seasons now. This manager can't implement whatever he has in his mind. His has shown himself to be completely incapable of getting us play any coherent football consistently.

The sort that your post deserved. Casemiro clearly cost us today, but you want to put all the blame on the manager.
His tactics are to blame. He got his line up wrong again. The his subs. Casemiro was shipped off after 45 mins, what did we do in the second 45 to win? We concede a third. Over and over again it's the same story with Hag. If you cannot see this, stick to your Casemiro story. Last year it was injuries, year before it was he was new, now this year Casemiro? They players look clueless and predicatable on that pitch.

I'm arguing against what you previously posted. I don't think it's okay to get beaten constantly as long as we win a solitary game.

You keep on saying the manager can't coach a style or get us playing football consistently. I disagree and I've provided examples for why I think that way.

Calm down, it’s a one year extension and a club option on top of it. INEOS have given themselves the flexibility to sack ten Hag without much financial repercussions.

Casemiro absolutely cannot start another game…except maybe against Barnsley in a couple weeks. Even then, I wouldn’t trust him not to just give the ball away over and over. I really hope Ugarte is as advertised because Collyer is nowhere near ready.

I thought De Ligt looked good but it’s clear he and Martinez need to figure each other out.

Bruno with another below standard game, IMO. Missed too many passes to create opportunities.

Hard to judge Zirkzee on this game. Had some chances to score and looked lovely but Liverpool did well to neutralize him. Because of the horrid midfield play, I think he was forced to move into positions that ended up taking him out of the play.

Rashford looked a little better but still didn’t make a case that we shouldn’t be starting Amad and Garnacho.

When you have lost almost half the PL matches since last season and routinely get hammered by the teams that are supposed to be your rivals, the mentality of the team will obviously be broken. You go out there in the back of your mind thinking there's a strong chance you lose.

The only thing that can fix this is a sustained period of good results, which we are further from with this bald clown than we have ever been.
Bang on, I think it’s the manner in which we win when we do beat these teams too, it’s surprise results on the counter, it’s not a win with any semblance of control really, so even when we do win (like the f.a cup results) it must feel to the players like pure luck.. so they’re back to square one next time we play them, and normal service is expected to resume

We started well until Casemiro gave them 2 excellent opportunities, so that kind of goes against your selection argument. But who would you have picked instead?

He had to change him at half time, who else was there to bring on? He took off Garnacho and de Ligt when the game was lost because they've not had a pre season, I thought that was pretty obvious. Last year yes, of course it was the injuries. We were absolutely decimated by them, in case you didn't notice. The year before needs no excusing, it was a good season.

Their first goal was such a braindead turnover from the most experienced and decorated player on the pitch. They were instantly 5 vs 3. You can't tell me that the manager instructs Casemiro to play such a risky pass there when there was an easy ball on out to the wing. That's on the player who should know better.

Arne Slot being interviewed post match on Sky at the pitch side.
He basically admitted it was easy to press intently and win the ball as Utd tried to play out from the back through the MF and by keeping Diaz and Salah high and with our FB’s pushing up, they expected to quickly outnumber us in front of our goal.

Do you think any established managers would take the risk of coming here at the beginning of a season with this squad?
Don’t be silly, the squad has a ton of potential, so plenty of very good established managers would come.

He’s the one youth player ten Hag actively picked out to be part of the senior team. Just knew he’d not be very good based on that
5’9. Slow, weak and poor on the ball. What does he bring? I’d honestly love to see what the other cm’s we have in the younger groups who can’t get past this guy. Shocking.

Absolutely agree, he needed to start well with 7 points and he hasn’t, we look a long way short right now of Villa, Brighton, West Ham, Newcastle let alone City, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea, simply has to go!

Put RVN in charge to Christmas and tell him he’s on trial for the full job?

The only player to have created anything positive.

But as always, go off. You'd written this post three hours ago.
Show me evidence of what he did that was positive. That one cross for Zirkzee? Are those seriously the standards we are holding our highest paid player to?

The rest of the game he was ambling back and anonymous. Amad did more within five minutes of coming on than Rashford did all game.

I wouldn't go that far. He's OK. I doubt he'll make it here, but he's been given a pretty shite platform here. We shouldn't be needing him to come on 0-2 down against Liverpool.

He got pushed off the ball with ease. He got ran over for 45 mins. Anytime he got the ball and didn’t straight up lose it or pass 5 yards backwards he legit ran the ball out of the pitch.

I saw Forson last year at Wolves come on in the last five mins when it was 3-3 I believe it was and saw him not arsed tracking back even though he’d just come on and straight away you could see he just didn’t have that fire.

The kid today looked so poor. Like he’d won a frigging prize to be out there. I know it sounds harsh but he is a million miles away from being a Man Utd player and if that’s what Ten Hag thinks is the best midfield player in the academy then good god we are fecked.

The squad is really quite good. I’m not worried about it. It’s 100% the manager. This nightmare will end eventually.

It’s only a matter of time ten hag is sacked. I can see Ruud being named the interim manager as the club seeks to find a permanent manager next season. Anyone but Southgate!

Zirkzee also looks too clumsy for the EPL on today's evidence. Wonder what they saw in him.

I'm not ready to write off the season. Liverpool, Arsenal and City are in a league of their own. We knew that already. I expected to lose with this midfield. But clearly it's bad and ETH has till Xmas to turn it around or he's toast.

It's way to early to rule Zirkzee out though, he's not match fit and learning a new league and team. Going hard on him is too reactionary.

I actually agree that ETH is on thin ice, but as long as we're trying to play out from the back with Casemiro we're toast, no matter who the manager is.

Yes drop him for Collyer. A bad player who can run is better than a bad player who can't.
Based on watching the two play today I think this was clearly the correct decision, but do you honestly think many managers in world football start Collyer today over Casa?

You're not supposed to ask who they should be dropped for because then for one of them they have to say a teenager who has played more first team minutes today than he'd previously done in his life.
This is the issue. I completely get the frustration at the manager and the tactics, but who else are we supposed to start!

Does Dalot even get close to G Nev, Rafael, even fecking Antonio Valencia at right back?

Amad maybe? You saw he was the best player today despite being a sub? How about we stop playing a fecking striker in the winger position because that's where he loves to play and instead play an actual winger there? or sign one maybe?

Maybe don't sell McTominay if you know Casemiro is done and Ugarte hasn't arrived yet? What happens if Ugarte gets injured next game and is out for the season, do we concede 3 every game and say "ohhh we had injuries"

Enough with the excuses. The guy is terrible and has been for the last 2 seasons. We have no system, no style of play, nothing. Its like watching 11 random guys playing 11 a side on a sunday.
Yes Dalot is top draw. Easily better than Rafa and on in par with Valencia. Remember he’s not even playing his natural position.

I get your frustrations but the scenarios you’ve presented are just not accurate. You really think McTominay is the answer? You can moan as much as you want about the “excuses” but they remain valid. Rome wasn’t built in a day and this squad regardless of manager is still miles off it especially when the new players are still settling in. If we haven’t picked up by December then fair enough I’ll join you.

Especially since they’ve reduced the wage bill by £400-450k per week more than enough to pay him off, my point is why wait?

It’s not as if they did not leave Tuchel and others with possibility that the job would maybe be available by October/November so let’s make the decision now, he’s clearly not up to the calibre needed in the EPL?

The reality is we just don’t score or threaten enough so teams overload us and then take their chances then relax and play on United mental fragility which comes from the Manager?

This United team is a soft touch and possibly the worst squad I’ve seen in 35 years it’s that bad!

I’m calling it now keep ETH will finish 10th -12th

What makes it even worse is ETH PL record against the big 6/7 teams is truly shocking; he’s got 1 win vs City in 4, 1 win vs Arsenal in 4 losing the other 6 to these two teams, 1 Win against Liverpool losing 2, drawing 2, 2 wins vs Chelsea , 1 draw, 1 defeat, Spurs 1 win 2 draws, 1 defeat and 1 win vs Newcastle, 1 draw, 2 defeats but it gets worse Brighton played 5 win 1 lost 4, this clown needs to go asap, he’s embarrassing the club.

You can't sack him for playing Casemiro. He had nobody else

Can't see who the replacement is.

Zidane is continuitty Casemiro. Tuchel doesn't want it. RvN is Ole.

We are looking at Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter or Gareth Southgate if we rush to the sack.
