They are getting desperate and pushing forward, if we can get that ball out to Rashford/Elanga/Sancho right from a clearance then we're in

We need to get our forward line more involved in the second half. Sancho goal and Elanga assist and while they have done well off the ball, feel they haven't been too involved.

martial coming on. i hope it’s not injury related as it would be a great statement from eth.

As others have mentioned, all in all we're getting the right attitude from the team, which is more important than the points. If we keep this attitude but end up losing the game I'll be disappointed but very optimistic. Once our character is back wins will follow.

Bit worried about Dalot. He's played OK so far, but Diaz is going to get him sent off in this second half.
he’s played well but needs to stay on his feet, can’t win every ball

Big improvement from what we've seen recently. As long as we continue to commit ourselves like this in the 2nd half I can forgive us for losing as Liverpool visibly have more quality than us.

Rashford and Elanga have been poor, replace them with better attackers and we might have scored a couple in that half.

After 25 minutes we have started to cheat in our defensive tactics from wide positions. Elanga and Sancho must do little more so McTominay and Eriksen can keep the central area. Otherwise, center back partnership looks good so far. Lets hope it keeps that way. Rashford is playing his best game for about one year with his pressing and movement.

☝This, I am still really happy with improvement as a whole.

Martial coming on for the 2nd half. Hopefully picks up from where he left off in pre-season when he was banging them in.

Elanga has been electric! Has been tormenting TAA from the off.

He's fast and therefore always a threat in behind, which has resulted in TAA getting pinned, but he doesn't really have the technical ability to truly capitalise on his speed.

Unless he was injured it should’ve been Rashford off

Oh for elanga? Rashford better track back on the wing because elanga did that alot

I think ETH had enough after Brentford - Feck it I am going to do my way.

Rashford HAS to press more, he's walking around most of the time, again. No different than Ronaldo. He has to put more pressure on their defenders when they pass the ball around.

Agreed, at a few points Liverpool have had the ball knocked back, and Eriksen has been chasing down the ball and ended up the furthest up the pitch - which probably shouldn't happen that much. Sancho has been good for getting around too. Rashford not really pressing at all.

Good performance so far, but you can see very clearly that the team is being held back by some limited players in key positions. What this team really needs is:

    1. A centre-forward who can come short and get involved in the play (Rashford replacement)
    2. A winger who can run the ball and beat defenders 1 v 1 (Elanga replacement)

McTominay and De Gea are also simply too poor on the ball to play in this system - Casemiro and Sommer (or similar) would be huge upgrades.
Yep. Replace Rashford and Elanga with better quality players and we would have had more control of the game and probably even scored more. Everytime either of them got the ball, they'd lose it and we'd immediately be on the back foot once again.
