Excellent half. Ten Hag has been pragmatic and played compact whilst hitting Liverpool‘s high line with long balls to pacey players. Second half will probably be tougher as we tire after putting a lot in the first half. I think we’ll need a second goal.

Rashford HAS to press more, he's walking around most of the time, again. No different than Ronaldo. He has to put more pressure on their defenders when they pass the ball around.

Rashford and Bruno will need dropping.

    I’ll reserve judgement for Elanga.

Even if we end up losing this, I feel progress was made in the pitch today. Positive first half and Martinez’s bull dog approach is lovely to watch

Sancho awesome for the goal but he's barely touched it other than that.
Yeah but Pool have had 75% of possession. He has always closed Robertson down and kept the right side fairly balanced defensively. Salah and Trent have carved the left side apart a few times

We're going to need fresh legs in the second half. Rashford has been dire. Martinez is a warrior and MOTM so far.

Too bad most of our good attacking opportunities fell on Rashford and especially Elanga who have been rather poor. At least Elanga bagged himself an assist.

Martinez showing the passion and desire we’ve sorely missed. Him, Dalot, Varane and McTom have had a good half.

First time I have actually felt something for this side. Great half, hopefully we can keep at them

DDG actually swept a ball OUTSIDE his goal, wow
    I was like

Anyway good game so far they haven't created a fecking thing yet. Very impressive defensive performance so far. May it continue. Really hope we'd win it'll be a massive confidence boost for the lads and ETH

Good performance so far, but you can see very clearly that the team is being held back by some limited players in key positions. What this team really needs is:

    1. A centre-forward who can come short and get involved in the play (Rashford replacement)
    2. A winger who can run the ball and beat defenders 1 v 1 (Elanga replacement)

McTominay and De Gea are also simply too poor on the ball to play in this system - Casemiro and Sommer (or similar) would be huge upgrades.

Rashford HAS to press more, he's walking around most of the time, again. No different than Ronaldo. He has to put more pressure on their defenders when they pass the ball around.
He's doing fine, you only press as a collective. No point on your own.

Ten Hag needs to accept we need to play this counter attack but playing out from the back against everyone, we can't do 100% possession based in the oppo half

Just noticed Bruno pointing to where the goal is for Sancho's goal.
Does that count as an assist

Great half. We are so bad at finishing though. Could have been up 2-0 or 3-0. It’s insane that we can’t finish like normal teams. It’s so frustrating that we need hundred chances just to score one goal. We are the only team where a 1v1 against the keeper isn’t a big chance.

We also lost control a bit at the end, but you can’t expect any team to dominate Liverpool for 90 minutes. We need more energy, didn’t press as much at the end of the half. The whole team needs to keep the energy up, especially the forwards.

Whatever happens second half, I feel like that half was something to build on. Tactically and technically a bit up and down, but the commitment and effort was 10x better than we’ve seen in a long time. Would mean a lot to get the win of course, but in terms of climbing out of this rut, it’s a solid start.

Fernandes and Rashford have been trash. Utterly awful.

    Fred and Ronaldo/Martial on.

Fernandes has not been awful. He's made some errors but he's put himself about. When tines are hard you need to go back to basics and united have done that. Hopefully they can get a result.

There was a situation with McT on the ball, the passing lane he was going for was closed off. He could have squared it to Eriksen to advance the play but stubbornly tried the pass anyway and it resulted in losing the ball  Like that is not even technical skill, all he needs to do is look up. Guy is playing football with his head down all the time, no situational awareness at all.

McTominay has had a solid game so far yet you pick out one bad moment. The agenda against him is ridiculous.

Bruno and Rashford the weakest links. Bruno is suicidal, but at least he won the ball for Elanga for his shocking miss. Rashford is genuinely irrelevant.

Rashford HAS to press more, he's walking around most of the time, again. No different than Ronaldo. He has to put more pressure on their defenders when they pass the ball around.
I don't think he's able to. Everytime he sprints he looks out of breath.

Bruno has been good for us and them. He's trying to create goals for both teams. What a player!
