For some reason, even when we are shit, Klopp is always very cautious at OT. If we don't concede early, can easily see this being a drab 0-0.
Ole certainly won't go for it.

The issue teams with a high press have is that its a big problem if they're too high up on the pitch and we get the ball, then its off to the races.

Its the same reason last years game against Manchester City went to 0-0. Ole nor Pep made a sub until well into the 80 mins. Just an all out positional exchange all match.

It depends which Maguire turns up. It's harsh to pin it all on him, but his individual mistakes in the last few games has cost us big time. If he builds on midweek with his goal and gets confidence from that then we'll be looking a bit more sturdy at the back. But it's important imo to start with high energy players like Lingard/Cavani. If we use the same tactics as we have done in previous weeks it won't end well. I'd play Cavani/Ronaldo upfront with Lingard. Then flood the midfield.

It won't end 0-0 though. I'll bet 5p on it!

If Maguire dosnt give away the ball theres every likelyhood we win that Leicester game, instead of conceeding 4.

Its so frustrating when the players make no-pressure mistakes like that.

He’s always very cautious then after the game trashes us for being cautious too

Souness "I told you we'd enjoy today" a ball hasn't been kicked yet...be careful!

The thing is, we really do have enough individual brilliance to beat Liverpool. But will Liverpool lose their discipline to let us beat them? We shall see.

Even worse when we get back into the game as we've done so, so many times in the past under Ole then immediately give away a howler of a goal. So frustrating. Honestly though, I think that result midweek was huge not just for the result but also the confidence of players that were a bit out of form. Maguire/Shaw both supplying key moments that helped us win must surely raise their confidence. The big concern is our midfield, because Matic is so easy to play against these days. If Fred is out then we have the issue of either picking Pogba/Matic or using McTominay with someone else, be that Pogba or *says it quietly* VdB?

I really, really want United to win today,

G Nev to be fair points out how stupid Sounness is. We haven’t been a high press team since forever, his point is irrelevant when speaking about United.

Would suit them, they’ll still be in around the top and knowing both City and Chelsea have to come here.

    Neville taking the bait.

Sourness is right all the same

Souness might be right but it wasn't the discussion they were having, they were talking about Ronaldo and how to get the best out of him and Souness went off into his own little tangent

1 win in 10 against Liverpool in the PL! Wow. Didn’t know the record is that bad. 4 for Liverpool, and 5 draws!

nice things don't happen so I'm convinced we're losing now and Souness will be like the cat who got the cream

I think we've only beat Klopp twice and one of those was under LVG :(

Last time we beat them was under Mourinho and when Rashford scored that worldie and torn TAA to shreds

Have we ever been a high press team?
They definitely tried something when Ole came in but went away from it quickly when they realised you can’t just tear after the ball with no structure/specific training. So maybe for like 2-3 months we tried it!

Yeah that’s true. We didn’t try to be high press under Moyes, LVG, or Mourinho either.

he did and he caught himself a big marlin!

What's a thrashing? By 4 or more? Then no. I firmly believe he's gone in the morning in that case.

Honestly can see it ending by liverpool winning at a canter , even by 4 or more.
I still think the manager wouldnt be sacked.

I’ve never been so down about our chances against Liverpool and I’m not even Ole out. We’re really struggling to find a midfield mix that works in any capacity, we’re missing Varane and Maguire and Shaw, usually dependable defenders (IMO) are out of form. Probably the worst set of circumstances considering Liverpool’s strengths.

At least we have Ronaldo and that gives any team a chance

I wonder how many goals we'll concede from set pieces?!

Yes, something of that ilk. Let's be honest, we might ship 5 or 6 here

We’re not going to ship five or six  we’re going to be very defensive and play on the counter. Hard to see how we get thrashed playing that way and I am optimistic we can actually nick a win.
