Your compensating for the injured tissue with other muscle areas and it's extremely common to pick up niggles and knocks that can seem totally unrelated.

    [regarding Falcao]
I agree with that. Rehab takes time and you cannot expect a player to return so quickly, after ACL.
My hopes are for him to get some playing time (20 minutes per game) in December and in January he plays 70+ minutes per game.

    [tomorrow's game]
I originally felt that Di Maria would be pivotal in tomorrow's game. He wont play.
However, I still think we can win, given that we are very strong at OT.
And if people think that Liverpool are going to play weak football tomorrow - think again. They will definitely raise their game, just as they have done for the last few years against us.

This run of five straight wins will mean bugger all if we don't do the business tomorrow. I'm not sure whether it's the wine or not but I can see a 4-1 lesson in football. Let's send them back across that East lancs road with a long overdue hammering:devil:

I've just seen this on RAWK which is the rumoured Liverpool team for tomorrow. The guy who 'leaked' this did get the Stoke and Basel teams right.

Jones; Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno; Allen, Henderson, Gerrard; Lallana, Coutinho Sterling.

I really hope that's not the team. Would probably mean Gerrard sitting out of those three midfielders seeing as Allen hasn't played DM since the first couple of months he played for us.

RAWK Says some guy who has been accurately leaking the team lineup for the past few games says dippers would start with this team:

Jones; Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno; Allen, Henderson, Gerrard, Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling.

If that's the team then it looks like they are going for it. But, seen as Mignolet is dropped it seems like it's more like the team all their fans would love to see rather than being the actual line up.

    That's a cracking team.

Yes, as Falcao has had late cameos in the Hull and Stoke game and most likely would have come on against Southampton were it not for the circumstances. His fitness surely can't be so lacking at the moment and I would expect him to perform better in a fixture like this than Mata if I'm honest. I don't trust Mata to step up in these types of games and if he is constantly pressed in midfield he will inevitably be a passenger.

An alternative is playing a four man diamond of Carrick, Valencia, Fellaini and Herrera at the tip or Wilson instead of Falcao. I want to see Falcao starting soon though.

I think his fitness IS the actual problem, and the very severe knee injury a little less so.

Either way, he's got a huge amount to do to last a second year here.

    Anderson vs Liverpool

    Odd rumours coming out.

Can't see Wilson starting this one. To me he just looks like a faster keener version of Hernandez at the moment, but without his finishing.

Can't see Liverpool, dropping their keeper, going with Lovren, and not even starting with a striker!

Going for it?....but there's no striker?

    I'd love that lineup.

Mignolet and Jones are just as bad as each other so it's a toss up between them two and it won't make a real difference either way. A Skrtel-Lovren defence, which makes Kolo Toure look decent, would be a dream to play against. Not sure playing no strikers with Sterling, Coutinho and Lallana as the front three is the way to go for Pool either. And finally Gerrard sitting and Allen in midfield with no Lucas (whose actually been their best midfielder recently) would be grand.

I'll settle for nothing less than a 3-0 drubbing.

You beat me to it :)

    That's a cracking team.

I don't like the idea of Gerrard going back to a deeper role when he hasn't really performed well there in months. Also I get that Mignolet is fairly hopeless but shoving Jones into the biggest game of the season so far seems a bit crazy.

I'd be happy to see a front three of Coutinho, Lallana and Sterling though.

    Absolute Rubbish.

Yea, I've had the injury myself and it actually knocked on to my other knee and my back as I compensated, my feelings are that he will be fine. The other thing is that he's recovered from the same injury before in his other knee so mentally he knows he can overcome it. Massive part of it is in trusting the joint again.
    On the game.
We simply must win tomorrow, both have suspect defences but Liverpool are toothless whilst we are banging plenty in.
Agree with most that we must play a diamond to utilise our strength in attack, Herrera, Fellaini, Mata/Rooney across the front of it and we should have more than enough to get the win.
All depends on which Liverpool we get though, if we get this seasons norm were fine but as you say, we could get scouserlona for the day.

We may have to go with Lovren as Toure was out injured on Tuesday and still might be, and Sakho has barely played any football this season for one reason or another.

I'd rather we went with that front three as opposed to playing Lambert and Gerrard around Sterling, neither of which offer a great deal of mobility up top.

I agree that it would be odd for Van Gaal to shove Wilson in, for the same reason that it would be odd for Rodgers to randomly start Jones for the first time this season. It's probably just Twitter rumours.

    That's a cracking team.

    They're cracking alright.

If they get themselves up for the derby in usual style, that front six are capable of some nice football and could be a handful. I can't see that back four being anything other than dangerously shoddy under any circumstances though.

I'd fecking love it if Johnson played. Curses be upon the man who reposts this if he scores against us tomorrow. May he forever be as bad at his job as Glen Johnson is at defending.
That said, our back line is hardly rock solid right now, despite the respectable (and somewhat deceptive) 3 conceded in four games.

I wonder how close Jones is to the team.

Evans is having surely his worst season yet, in terms of both fitness and form when he has played.
To start with him tomorrow would bring back the nerves he used to generate.

They'll be up for it and will raise their game. I've no doubt they'll play much better than they have recently.

I just hope we're ready and use the confidence we'll have from the recent wins. Key man for me is Rooney. He's never really been at his best for us against Liverpool but he's in form and hopefully leads us to another win tomorrow. I expect to see him deeper tomorrow with Mata missing out.

Wilson's best attribute so far has been his dribbling which is something Hernandez has never had. In fact I'd say Wilson looks the best dribbler out of our current striking quartet. It's a very prominent quality of his that you're completely ignoring here.

That Poolside looks like a dream to play against. Sterling has been the only one looking to create something, good thing pushing him further up the field where he has to create AND finish. He should create, someone else finish. Basic football-lesson for Rodgers. Only way I can see this working is if they park the bus and go all counter, but that would mean Rodgers is a hypocrite. hmmm...

Lovren and Skrtel, seriously, we will get a penalty. They are both so incredibly nervy. Gerrard holding is also a dream.

If that is the team they are bringing here, then we will win. Barneys "cracking team" certainly has cracks!

It's the best team they could field at the moment I reckon.

It's not, but it's a definite improvement. By normal standards I'd be reasonably content if that was the line-up but compared to what we've picked recently it would be fantastic.

For what it's worth my preferred line-up would be:
Jones, Manquillo, Touré*, Sakho*, Alberto Moreno, Can, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana/Marković

    * if fit
