It's not, but it's a definite improvement. By normal standards I'd be reasonably content if that was the line-up but compared to what we've picked recently it would be fantastic.

For what it's worth my preferred line-up would be:
Jones, Manquillo, Touré*, Sakho*, Alberto Moreno, Can, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana/Marković

    * if fit

Have we ever seen Sakho and Toure played together? It seems like the only combination left untried. I know they played in the same back four in a home game against Southampton but Sakho was LB in that game so it doesn't really count.

Out of those three in midfield who would you have sit, Can? I think he started the QPR game there and we were all over the place.

Yeah Mignolet is poor. But why should Jones (Championship level imo) should start ahead of Mignolet???
Especially because Mignolet hasn't made a mistake in the last two matches.

Maybe last season, but I can't remember for definite and if they did play as a pair it definitely wasn't more than once or twice. There's no way they'd start together tomorrow, I'd just like to see it tried out.

Fair point about Can sitting. Lucas is definitely the best of our midfielders at holding but I like the look of Can. Allen isn't really any better deeper anyway, unless Rodgers is reverting to Gerrard deep?

Both are terrible but Mignolet has fecked up too many times, he should have been dropped weeks ago.

Because they are desperate for change, and believe just about anything will turn their luck

I think they were in a back three together early on last year when Rodgers was looking for a way to get both Sturridge and Suarez involved up top, but never in a back four as the two CB's I don't think. I'm still annoyed at Agger being sold really. He had a lot more composure at the back than anyone else we have.

Yeah I like Can too but I think he is better suited as a box to box midfielder personally. He looks like he has a lot of energy and power to his game. I hope it isn't Gerrard in front of Lovren and Skrtel. Surely he's learnt his lesson following the games against Chelsea, Palace, West Ham etc.

It's currently 3 degrees and there's a 60% chance of rain at 1pm in 8 degree playing conditions.
They can wear hat n scarf for all I care, I fecking well will be ;)
That's what running around is for ;) to warm u up haha I think it was Rio a few years ago said that Man United players won't wear snoods and SAF wouldn't be happy if anybody did.

They're not going to throw Jones in for tomorrow's game ffs, why would you replace an awful match fit keeper with an awful non match fit keeper ?
That teams bullshite in my opinion, Lucas is fit right ? He will hold in front of whoevers fit and Gerrard will be higher to pressure our unsettled back line.
It's a wum lineup surely, could there be a more unbalanced selection ?

I'm taking that rumoured line-up with a pinch of salt for now but yeah holding midfield is my main concern. Gerrard has been a disaster there this season and I think Allen and Can have the same problem as each other - they're both high energy players who are good at winning the ball back but I'm not really convinced either are good enough positionally to hold in midfield. I think I've just talked myself into wanting Lucas to start again :D

Ha, like I said, it's currently freezing its Travellers off in the North West of England, which is fine for hard bastard northerners like myself :D but those jonny foreigners brrrrrrrrr.

I wonder how close Jones is to the team.

Evans is having surely his worst season yet, in terms of both fitness and form when he has played.
To start with him tomorrow would bring back the nerves he used to generate.
van Gaal is very picky about competitive match fitness, so I imagine it'll be Evans.

Yeah after the Leicester match was maybe the right time.
But why now (if the RAKW guy is right with the line-up)???
It would make no sense to me and i doubt Rodgers would make such a risky move for this match. Maybe if Burnley would be the next opponent at Anfield.....but not Manchester United away.

Jones has played 4 matches in the last two seasons and he is (like said Championship level) two levels down of Mignolet's level (PL mid-table level).

RAWK Says some guy who has been accurately leaking the team lineup for the past few games says dippers would start with this team:

Jones; Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno; Allen, Henderson, Gerrard, Lallana, Coutinho, Sterling.

Would love that line up. Could only be better if Enrique found a way to be included.

Lovren and Skrtel partnership, hope Gerrard is the DM and no Lucas who's their best (lol) player in that position. To top it off, no number 9. Oh, and Jones is worse then Mignolet.

    5-1 please.

Hope someone does the "Brentan Rodgers is a football genius" banner.

Nervous as feck for this. A win would bw so sweet I can't even put it in words...

Was doing the rounds on various forums and on Twitter a while back.

Few people were looking into bringing a banner tomorrow, of Gerrard's slip.

I ain't heard much on it since, hence why I was asking here if anyone knew anything more on it
That would be brill...Only if we win though

Some editor of a paper apparently has inside info that Jones is playing tomorrow. Said it on the bt sports late night football show. Heard Mignolet was struggling this season but didnt think it was that bad. Guess we'll see. He also said theyd play a front trio of Lallana, Markovic and Sterling. If its true we can expect them to press us high, any scouser who can confirm? Weve not exactly looked comfortable when pressed this season so guess that would be smart.

If they press us there will be room to counter. Therefore i wouldnt mind us starting Wilson tomorrow.

Suppose it could also mean pool going for the counters which would suit us better, hehe 1x2.

All the more reason for us to not play the 3-5-2, it's so self-inflicting. I know many argue that the shape is similar in the diamond, but that's only when we're in possession/attacking. Defending, it's a whole different ball game.

RAWK seems to think the front three will be Lallana, Coutinho and Sterling. Jones was also in that line up as well with Henderson, Allen and Gerrard as the midfield three. I don't know how much pressing we'll be doing since it hasn't really featured much this season. I'd be fine with Markovic and Sterling though for the pace more than anything.

No reason for the 352, i agree. The diamond is working so we should play it. I'm hoping to see progress regarding our formational shape, defensive positioning and attacking movement in the game. If pool park the bus i expect a tight game tomorrow, hopefully we can nick an early goal so the game opens up.

I'm surprised more teams don't press us high at OT really..

Liverpool have conceded 13 goals in seven away games at an average of 1.87 goals per game - only QPR have fared worse.

Just read over on RAWK about this and there are rumours circulating that Mignolet was a 'committee' signing and that Rodgers never fancied him...make of that what you will

Apparently it's Tony Evans who has said that Jones starts tomorrow. Another bizarre selection from Rodgers if true, considering the magnitude of the game.

Wow I knew their defence was bad but thats just amazing. Feeling confident about tomorrow now. First time I've felt that against Liverpool in a long time...the game raising bastards.

Lovren and Skrtel vs RVP, Rooney and maybe Falcao

I hope there's no banner tomorrow, or at the very least that the people behind it have the sense to keep it under-wraps at least until we've won the game (if we do manage to win it - I'm never confident of these games after over two decades of us being better than them but Liverpool still winning far more than they should've against us).

I really, really hope our boys actually turn-up for this one.
