    I don't care if LVG's ass twitches or if he has a seizure if we play the 4-4-2 diamond. Play that god damn formation. 3-5-2 clearly isn't working.

    Anyone know when Smalling is back? If he's ready for this one I'd prefer him over Jones, together with Rojo. Herrera should start instead of Fellaini, and Rooney instead of Wilson.

    We must avenge that loss, maybe if we do that our season will kick start again, shadow of that match still hangs above our heads.

    Seriously, play 4-4-2 (although today proved the formation is not the problem) and win by 3-0.
     
    I think the 5-3 debacle will see us a lot more conservative in this game. On the other hand I think Leicester might be a bit more bold than they might have been otherwise which will probably work in our favour.

    Would love that starting line up. Won't happen though.
     
    Fletcher - Carrick was terrible in 2010.

    No way they should be together now. Slow, ponderous, no tempo on the ball. Leicester would press them every time.
     
    Very unlikely if not downright impossible, but I would love to see a midfield three of Carrick, Herrera and Di Maria; supplemented by Mata in the creative #10 hole and with Rooney further forward as a striker in the 4-3-1-2 diamond.

    Rest of the team pretty much picks itself. Blind at LB since he's been perhaps our most consistent player this season alongside Carrick and Shaw is not upto full match fitness so no point risking him and aggravating the injury, Jones picks himself because the others are likely unfit and 'the set piece taker always starts'.

    No real preference with the choice for primary #9 since both Falcao and Van Persie have been performing to a similar standard. To be fair we should also indulge in some proper experimentation than the current status quo, in terms of starting Januzaj and giving him another chance.

    Please don't revert to the 3-5-2, and pick Rafael, he just 'gets it'. Let him run riot with Herrera on the right flank.

    Leicester.. Van Gaal will have memories of starting so well to end the game on a low. That may urge him to use three at the back. Or, Phil Jones's reactions when reminded of the debacle might convince him.

    Switching to the ass twitching formation wasn't going to solve all our problems, I believed. Recently tried against Cambridge it didn't work to suggest it would against a recently promoted PL outfit.

    Part of the problem was Blind's pace and his delayed crosses into the box.
    Valencia is stranded mid way in the opposition half moving half heartedly looking for a simple pass.
    The striker duo are generally static owing to the slow build up.

    Other than De Gea, Rojo has looked solid at the back.
    Shaw, due to injuries and lack of chances, hasn't hit form. He needs time on the pitch along with Rafael who is more adventurous than Valencia and isn't afraid driving forward with the ball.

    Carrick and Blind in midfield with Herrera slightly ahead.
    Januzaj looked bright in his last outing and his creativity could help us find those elusive goals. Along with Di Maria they can play as wide forwards.
    Our captain fantastic can lead the line.

    Back to a comfortable bench compared to the concrete at Cambridge I still don't think RvP or Falcao would be very happy.
    However it is time LvG stopped worrying about individuals and their incorporation into the side. He is, slowly but steadily, losing the faith most had and it won't be long before the media is all over him unless there is improvement.
     
    Don't care how we do it as long as we beat them. In fact, we will beat them, we owe it to them to keep them bottom of the table.

    I know, super tasty. He might drop Falcao who had a full game yesterday, as Rooney was rested. Van Persie is another matter. And he probably will feature Mata, given that he was rested. I'd take Mata in there for Herrera, just to see this formation work, though I think Herrera is a miles better option defensively (pressing)

    I agree with this totally.
    To beat Leicester we don't need Galacticos playing tiki taka football - we are not playing Bayern, Real or Barca.
    We need grit and determination; the same grit and determination which Cambridge showed against us; or Vardy showed against us when they won.

    The formation and team selection for this game is irrelevant. Its all about - how badly do we want to win.

    IMO our play is extremely laboured in the final third of the pitch. Even when we hit on the break, we race the ball upto the final third of the pitch. Stop. Allow 20 odd players to catch up and position themselves. Then begin our slow, laboured ball-passing attempt to score. Which usually ends up in a back pass, to our side passing defenders. We are the ones who kill our own counter-attacks.

    Our record is 9 goals in the last 8 games (I think). The problem here is not the formation or the lack of superstar players. I think we are slow in attack and perhaps some of our players dont want "it" enough.

    I think LVG needs to tweak his system and ask his players to throw caution to the wind in the final 3rd.
    Many fans want us to buy defenders - defenders are not going to be the solution to our goal-scoring drought. The system needs re-working.

    Agreed. I'd love to see that too with an attacking approach using our player's creativity. Won't happen mind. We'll play poorly, scrape a win and bore the minds out of all who have the willpower to force themselves to watch.
     
    I'm not sure to be honest, it could be a difficult game for us if we persist with our regular tactics, I can see another draw.
