So, everybody's happy with Mourinho using the first team players for this kind of games? Just don't forget it also implies Mourinho doesn't think he can challenge the Premier League this year...

    10/11

Only one I got wrong was Rojo over Blind, which seems a no brainer on form.

International break coming up after the Stoke game and also many teams play their strongest team in the EL. We'll be fine.

    Err no it doesn't.

It doesnt imply that at all..

We rested players vs Feyenoord. How did that turn out?

A lot of heavy lifting placed on Pogba. We can't expect Fellaini to move the ball forward fast like Herrera. Pogba is going to have to go hunting for the ball. My worry is this will take him away from the parts of the pitch where he can do most damage. I suspect Carrick may need to come on to remedy this. Who knows? Fellaini might surprise me.

TFM starting again. I thought Jose doesnt trust youth.
After Fosu-Mensah display against Northampton, I'm pretty surprised he picked him. But the fact he was on the bench against Leicester kind of tells he trusts him, much more than Darmian.

Except for Mata, all those who aren't rested are physically very impressive, so there's not much to worry.
Surely this contradicts your post about not resting players indicating Mourinho has no ambition to win the league?

Glad to see the Tofu Monster get a start, would have liked to see Memphis play too.

Think Fellaini playing tonight means Herrera at the weekend, tbh. I'm happy to see Fellaini play, though.

Yes, but Blind doesn't seem to have the physical requirements for making all these games midweek. Besides, he will most probably play against Stoke.

Glad to see more or less the same team for this game. We've got a game on Sunday, but we need to build up some momentum. We've changed it too much of late. Yes, Mourinho wants to give players a chance, but there's plenty of time for him to do that.

The only thing about this lineup is Fellaini instead of Carrick, which I don't agree. Also think Martial could start on the right with Rashford in front of Ibrahimović and Mata could have been rested. But the flow of our game would suffer, most probably.

Surely he would be better to play at home against Zorya, and then drop him for the Stoke match? He can cite resting/man-management too, especially with the international break along.

Not if Jose (like most of us here), think Rooney is so bad, he should be nowhere near the 1st XI.
And remember, Jose wants to win every match, no matter who it is against.

The advantage of playing first team players in this is them getting playing time. The disadvantage is us potentially progressing in that tournament. Am I the only one who thinks that being in that Mickey Mouse cup is bad for Manchester United?

    Not if we win it.

How often has Memphis have to play with Rooney as 10 instead of Mata??? I can't remember many games when he was lucky to have Mata who can pass the ball and create something instead of Rooney.

You cannot blame Rooney for Memphis's poor performances last season. He had half a season to prove himself.
He proved to LVG that he was so bad, that after half the season, LVG permanently benched him.
I realise that Memphis has his fans, but sometimes you have need to accept when a player is just bad.

Don't be surprised if we play shit. No ball players behind Pogba. We had two against Leicester which made a massive difference.

Kind of worried to be honest.

What's indicative of him not thinking United can challenge the League (after the defeats against City and Watford) is the complete change of policy regarding what players he would use come September in the Europa Cup and, most probably, the League Cup (City again). Remember how he cried every press-conference about September taking so much time to arrive, when he would give every single player minutes? After a loss, Mourinho goes back to whom he ever was, with the good (competitiveness) and the bad (not playing youth) that goes with it.

Jose hasn't changed the attacking four + Pogba. Believe he's trying to develop these players as a unit as much as possible. Mkhitaryan will prove to be another piece once he's fully fit.

Which two players behind Pogba against Leicester I didn't notice? I mean, besides Herrera, who else?

    Its not bad for MUFC.
3 years ago, I'd have agreed with you but in 2016, the EL is our level. We are not good enough to be in the CL, so why not try and win the EL?

I remember last season when LVG and many fans seemed to think that the EL is a walkover. Fans and LVG were talking almost as if MUFC had already won the EL. As soon as we came across LFC, we fell apart and put a true LVG-type performance in the 2nd (home) leg, which I think finished 1-1.

Not so sure he hasn't lost faith in Mkhitaryan after the international injury episode and following performance against City. His latest statements shown no sympathy for the player.
