Interesting point but I am curious why Ten Hag might do that. From what I have seen Eriksen has been one of Uniteds best midfielders so it would be surprising if hes not starting regularly unless his performance drops.

Bruno is the kind of footballer who plays himself into form. He did that last season towards the end while a lot of people were calling for him to be dropped.

I'd play him here just on the off-chance he rediscovers his form. On song, he's still our best creative player.

I don't think Twente are half as bad as people think. We probably wouldn't beat them with an entirely changed XI.

This team are heavy favourites though, which is what you want. It'd be nice to build some real momentum too.

I like that Mainoo has been given a rest. Personally I would've preferred if we stuck with De Ligt & Martinez starting together as they still need to work on their understanding, but on the other hand a little rotation is also a good thing.

I wonder if we're going to see Bruno getting benched in some of the league cup/europa games when Højlund gets in form with Zirkzee dropping deeper (no way we're not starting him in more important games even if it may be the right thing to do)?

I know he can be extremely frustrating but last season he was one of the most creative players in the league, in a poor United side. If he can click with the newer editions like Ugarte and Zirkzee, it will definitely improve us.

We got slapped silly in Europe last season and Twente are on a tear at the moment, chucking youngsters like that into this game would invite a defeat and more doom and gloom around the club. I am all for giving them chances off the bench but we need to secure the result first, with the way the season has begun we are going to be hard pressed to qualify for the CL via the League so winning the Europa might be our best option.

I think it's a third option - this is an important game for us, in what is an important competition for us, and so we have done what we should do in that scenario and pick a matchday squad full of our best group of players.

I think it’s the opposite mate. His numbers are really good and he’s probably been our most consistent player over the years. A couple of bad games and all the good gets forgotten. He’s the only one that turns up every week, never gets injured, sacrifices his position sometimes for the team.

Wheatley and Amass played for our U21's v bottom tier Doncaster last night. They drew 3-3 (winning on pens), and Wheatley was poor. He shouldn't at all be in the matchday squad for an important European game like this when we've got Zirkzee and Hojlund available.
