He wont play as one. What the feck is the point in that though? Mkhi is not a striker.
I think it's just to counter Rostov and Chelsea, specifically, as they play with 3 at the back. I don't think we'll use it that often, but we'll see.Not sure what I think about the 3 CB lineup and that we've changed it mid-season.
why herrera dropped from entire squad?
6-2-2 more likeWe played a 4-4-2 against Chelsea.
Anyone want to explain why you think we changed our formation?
He's starting, mate.
He's starting!
What?
Yeah, I'm scratching my head here as I was thinking we'd never see that formation again after LvG.I thought we didn't start too bad against Chelsea. And we also played 3 in the first leg so I'm assuming Jose thinks it's the best way to nullify the threat of counter attack from Rostov. Or he could he switching to it permanently..
Rooney and Martial are injured. The fact that Martial was training separately with Shaw and Schweinsteiger suggests they could be nursing knocks as well.
Schweinsteiger did get “a little problem” ahead of Bournemouth. Shaw started at Bournemouth but did not make the 18 against Chelsea.
Darmian has fallen out of favour in recent months.

No Rooney, Martial, Schweinsteiger, Shaw or Darmian in the United squad.
most probably not fully recovered from his shift vs chelsea. He's an old man these days.Young would have been a better choice at LWB over Blind.
Got confused and only read 'Ander' which in my head does not compute to 'Herrera' for some reason.
BTW - why does he have both names on his shirt?
We drew with Rostov and Chelsea were on already on top by the time Herrera got sent off.Probably because it has worked quite well?
Did the job on the potato field in Russia and matched chelsea every step of the first half before Oliver showed his shiteness yet again. I'm not surprised Jose want to explore it further.
I really think you're wrong, that those formations where due to very special circumstances not occurring Thursday, but we'll see.
Mourinho wasn't that afraid of Rostov away, he just wanted to have the quietest game possible there, using the pitch as an appropriate excuse, while at the same time testing the formation for Chelsea (which, by the way, in my opinion, was not even 3 at the back, much more something like a very defensive 4-4-2).
Even if he was afraid — I don't think he is — of Rostov featuring two forwards again and bombing balls to them, Carrick (but not Pogba) on the pitch should be more than enough to cover for that.

Perhaps. Hopefully it works well.Probably because it has worked quite well?

Yeah what was that about. Fallen out f favour since Chelsea. He started our last game, feck off Rob.
True, but it was definitely a 4-4-2 until the red card. I think in the first 30 minutes of the Chelsea game, Pogba was actually getting some more space and time on the ball, even with Kante matching up, and it looked good for the first 30 minutes. A 3-4-3 could also see Pogba get some more space in the middle (if the opponent isn't playing a midfield 3).6-2-2 more like
Perhaps. Hopefully it works well.
Too late in the season to be starting from scratch IMO, too risky. Not sure why we are doing 3-4-3 these days. But if we are, then this side is a much better choice for it then the last couple. Blind and Valencia wing backs, Herrera and Pogba in midfield, Mata and Miki floating behind Ibra. Hopefully we put in a good performance and get a few goals. Not too worried about not going through.

We haven't conceded many chances in most games and have created plenty.

They know feck all.On flashscore its a 4-1-4-1
If we get to the EL final, it will be bizarre if we play him over De Gea.Not that surprising, Romero has played in all the EL matches.
Good team btw!
He was told to mark Hazard tightly when he was on his side, and Darmian was given the same instruction when he moved to the other side. But it was a 4-4-2 with Jones and Darmian the FB's with specific marking responsibilities. Why are people saying we're three at the back again? I thought Jones played the defensive mid role in the game against Chelse up until Herrera got sent off. At least it looked like it from the way he stayed a little further up the pitch and supported Herrera. Jones was constantly present in the midfield and at times even ran higher up the pitch near Chelsea penalty area to stuck in. Clearly remember him fouling Hazard on one such occasion.
