Both Hojlund and Zirkzee are poor whenever they start - either leading to, or a symptom of - our lack of first half goals.

So probably the right time to try something different - especially if it's Garnacho up front. Fernandes as a fase #9 I'm less sure about.

But it really does highlight our issues up front that we're opting to go into a home game v Palace without a recognised striker, while leaving our two misfiring strikers on the bench.

Pretty damning for both Hojlund and Zirkzee. They have the ST role to share between themselves and no one gets selected.
Clear message from Amorim - you're shit, either perform or feck off in the summer.
Exciting times - no more "my captain shall always play", "we love rashy" with rashy being starter despite 10 dreadful performances in a row, and so ln...
    This.

    I hope it's this

    Onana
    De ligt Maguire Martinez
    Amad Ugarte Bruno Dalot
    Mainoo Garnacho
    Hojlund

Zirkzee is most likely starting considering Amorim played Hojlund the whole game in the Europa League. I do think Zirkzee offers us more in the Premier League because his skill-set is much more comprehensive than Hojlunds. Hojlund is a one-trick pony, if he can't exploit the space behind defenders, he struggles to contribute anything meaningful to the team.

Garnacho up front is worth I punt I reckon. Can definitely see him shit housing us a penalty at the very least.

I could be wrong but I'd be very surprised if it's Bruno up top. Sure Amorim made a comment a few weeks back he likes him deep to see the game in front of him so I think he'll be likely in central midfield.

My first thought was it will be Amad, but it could well be Garnacho.

    Hope it's Amad as 9.

I asked on here what people thought about using Amad as a 9 until manage to get a striker. Most scoffed in response.

I'm not saying he would be the ultimate 9 going forward but I see him as the one with best skill set for that makeshift position until Hojlund comes good, or more likely we get rid of Hojlund and buy a proper striker

Damning message to bench both the strikers
Yes kind of, but it’s been blatantly obvious for weeks that neither is good enough. They’ve both gotten chance after chance. Something different had to be tried eventually.

If Hojlund or Zirkzee are not injured thats a pretty brutal shot fired. Doubt they both have knocks…

Will be interesting if Garnacho scores a brace today as a CF

    Hope it's Amad as 9.

Is he really going to be any good with his back to goal? Also playing him there stops our best attacking player playing in his best position

    Have you checked the lineup?

EtH went without a CF for the FA Cup final and that worked a treat...if your Forwards are not firing then try something else!

    I like it.

Yes, Garnacho up front hopefully, let’s see what he can do. I expect him to work harder and create more for himself than either Hojlund or Zirkzee.

Whatever happens we have to beat this lot, sick of losing to them!

Love the lineup. Our two strikers have been useless so giving garnacho a chance up there is great too see. He couldn't possibly be any worse then them so why not.

Bizarre but given our atrocious strikers, you can't really blame him for trying something like this. This will be a tough watch with Garnacho and/or Amad trying to get change out of two big centre backs all day.

I think it’ll be Amad at 9. Better than Garnacho with back to goal.

Is it Garnacho? Flashscores as Bruno as the front man.

    Think about it.

It's easy to say hojlund and zirkzee are just getting poor service.

    So. Change the 9.

If they have a good game and score then it challenges them to be better and we see if they react like garnacho or like rashford.

If they also play bad it as a 9 then the issue clearly needs addressing elsewhere and that can be the focus.

No way it's Garnacho up front. He cannot play between two central defenders - he's too slight.

It will be Bruno as a false 9. He's done it before - most notably in the cup final.

    Hope it's Amad as 9.

Could be fluid 9 interchanging between amad and garna?

Interested to see how Garnacho or Bruno do. Expecting it to be Garnacho as the furthest forward.

We need to see something different.

Why? Amad is our best player with the ball and a striker in Amorim’s system doesn’t get a lot of time on it.

Unfortunately not. The Brentford and spurs game is
Is it just me or are Sky terrible for picking United games this season? We're nearly always on Sunday because of the Europa League and it feels like they always choose the other game.

Taking into account that I'm not suggesting this for the long term (albeit who knows the kid gives it his all) I do think he offers more with back to goal than Hojlund and IMO Garnacho. Holds the ball better than Hojlund and Zirkzee. Has the skills to dribble if need be, has a change and burst of pace. An eye for goal and I've seen him win more headers than the others. Last but not least actually gets into th box.

My bias is that I've advocated this before. He is basically the best of the bunch currently. But who knows if the plans for the likes of Greenwood (sorry to mention his name) and TBF old school training of playing a future striker initially on the wing is true then why not?
