Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • I like to play both Collyer and Ugarte in MF as they are good at hitting teams on the break. I would only play one of De Light and Maguire.

    ------Maz--------De Light-----------Licha

    --Amad-----Collyer------Ugarte-------Dalot

    --------Kobbie------------------Bruno--------------

    -------------------------Hojlund-------------------------

I think we see Mazraoui /dalot wingbacks. Maybe Yoro in at RCB.
They will be worried about Ezes pace/skill in the transitions.
We do sometimes struggle with Mateta type forwards too

Excited to see will hughes morph into a prime pirlo/gattuso hybrid.

I think Garnacho and zirkzee starts. Garnacho is one of the only ones we have that looks like he can create and score. Bruno where Collyer is.

Would like to see more of Mainoo and Garnacho in the AM positions. Both looked very bright on Thursday.

Palace fan on the previous page said that Eze is not available for them

This is what I think wil happen:

    Onana
    Mazraoui-De ligt-Martinez
    Amad-Ugarte-Mainoo-Dalot
    Bruno-Garnacho
    Zirkzee

This is what I hope will happen:

    Bayindir
    Mazraoui.De Ligt-Martinez
    Amad-Ugarte-Bruno-Dalot
    Eriksen-Mainoo
    Højlund

I'd like something between the two. Eriksen makes sense in the #10 position against parked buses, not aggressive PL teams who will go toe-to-toe with us. Even against FCSB he looked more effective in the second half when he dropped a bit deeper.

    GK
    Maz De Ligt Martinez
    Amad Bruno Ugarte Dalot
    Mainoo Garnacho
    Hojlund

We won't see it, but I think I'd like Amad, Bruno or Garnacho tried up top.

    --------------------------Onana---------------------
    ---------De ligt------Maguire------Martinez
    Amad--------Collyer-------Ugarte--------Dalot
    ‐----------Garnacho----------Mainoo--------------
    -------------------------Bruno--------------------

    Something like that.

Where is the premier league thread? Feel like I'm going mad looking everywhere

I don´t agree in that one. We were better in the second half because we started to play faster with more one touch football. Eriksen can do that at 10 as well, as we saw in the game where he assisted Amad. We need to play our passers to force Palace back. We are United. Let´s play to our strengths like a United team and just get it done. No disrespect intended, but this is Palace. We need to win this.

Looking at the table stats, points, goals etc, we are no better than Palace.

    It’s a game I’d expect to win, based on form it’s 50/50.

Looking forward to the game, hoping we can continue to build.

    Baby steps

We can win this……if we can find a way to score in the PL at home.
Not going to be easy though.
Palace’s recent record is better than ours, having only lost one in their last six games.

    Utd W-2 D-1 L-3
    CP W-3 D-2 L-1

    Come on you Reds !

    Onana

Also really need to start scoring some goals in the first half home or away, in all competitions.

The Bucharest game was nice in a vacuum, but they were bottom half of the Championship level, if that. It's a massive step back up to the PL now, and to that end, will be interested to see how much of our 2nd half performance can carryover.

What was encouraging in that game was that we looked a few levels up when we started to play. Big test to see if we can do any of that against a considerably higher calibre of opponent.

Hojlund is likely to lead the line, but opportunities to do so must surely be running out. With him up top, the ball has no way of sticking, so there'll be a dependency on the #10's, and in particular, Mainoo, to be the conduit for the whole team getting up the pitch. Garnacho warrants the start next to him, and I think we'll see Bruno continue with the deeper role. Amad is going to be our outlet ball and I think between he and Kobbie, we'll see the main body of work down that right side of the pitch.

Think any of win, lose or draw are possible here. Profound, I know*.

    *Not Michael Owen's burner account!

Pack to pack pl wins sounds good to me and with no dwight gayle theyre toothless up front

    Onana
    De Ligt Maguire Martinez
    Maz Mainoo Ugarte Dalot
    Amad Bruno
    Zirkzee

a win and a good performance here will be key to maintaining strong momentum.

I'd persist with Hojlund especially with Mainoo now playing in this advanced position. Might be more chances created for him now. Zirkzee is just far too slow and ponderous and is simply not made for PL football.

Agreed. This is my approach to all our games.

Cautiously optimistic for this one. The team will have some confidence now, and we managed to rotate quite a bit midweek, so key players like Ugarte and Amad are fresh.

Could still be any result though. As always we struggle scoring and an Onana brain fart is never far away.

Hope we concentrate early on and don’t concede a goal. It appears we like to give teams a start but we are not good enough to be sure of recovering quickly. Palace are a reasonable side and have a bit of firepower up front whilst we have Hojlund or Zirkzee If we play like we did on Thursday night then we are in with a good chance. Garnacho to score first if we start on the front foot.

    Bayindir

Yoro - de Ligt - Licha

    Maz - Bruno - Ugarte - Dalot

    Amad - Mainoo

    Zirkzee

I want to see Mainoo in that 10 role more. Bruno a little further back pulling the strings between defence and attack.

Mainoo has to start as a 10, and I would like Amad as a wingback to link up with him with Garnacho on the other side. Amad and Kobbie linking up near the box makes space for our other attackers.

Going by the way things have gone this season this will be a certain defeat with palace not having to play well to win.

Long story short today is opportunity to see if United are finally making some meaningful progress.
