ETH never rotated much last season. Only against Charlton did he make multiple changes to the team. I'm expecting a strong team. Rashford and Bruno will start for sure.

ten Hags lack of rotation cost us hugely in the PL last March to early May

    7-0 defeat to Pool
    0-0 draw with Southampton
    2-0 defeat to Newcastle
    1-0 defeat to Brighton
    1-0 defeat to West Ham

We were only 3 points behind City before the Pool game.

We were 17 points behind City after the West Ham game.

The manager needs to get his priorities in order.

PL and CL first and foremost.

Our apparently horrendously managed lack of rotation won us a trophy and us to an FA Cup final and 3rd placed finish. We were never in a title race.

Have a bad feeling that ETH won’t rotate.

Won’t surprise me if Casemiro and Rashford start and play 70+ minutes.
I reckon Rashford will be on the bench since we have Garnacho who needs games (even if he's stated the season poorly).

I doubt Amrabat is ready to play even 60 minutes or so, so I do think it's unfortunately likely that Casemiro will start. Personally I hope Scott gets the game even though I don't really rate him, but I think ETH will rely on Cas.

Have you not seen how knackered everyone looks and how many injuries we have?

Priority is PL/CL then FA cup then a long way down the list the EFL Cup.

I'm certainly aware of the injuries, but we are seven games into the season. The players that are fit, surely can't be that knackered.

Rotate a bit, sure, but I wouldn't throw away any kind of momentum and continuity we have, by throwing in too many youngster in a game against a PL team. League Cup or not, another defeat (especially at OT), will add to the talk about a crisis, while a good victory would help pull in the other direction.

    Onana
    Dalot Varane Lindelof Regulion
    Amrabat Eriksen
    Pellistri Bruno Rashford
    Hoijlund

I don't expect much rotation. Though i hope we see Mount, Garnacho and Hannibal too.

We all know he’s going to play the strongest team he can. It’s fine if a little boring. It’s just later on in the season when fringe players are struggling for form and fitness and then we need them all of a sudden it’s never good. I’m not saying to play Donny tonight instead of Bruno (is he even fit?) because then we will lose but amrabat Pellistri Garnacho Evans Hannibal Martial and the new goalie, they are or will be in the main team at some point soon so this is another great chance to get more minutes into them. Maybe give a substitute debut to someone who we are going to bring through next season? Fergie was always really good at keeping everyone hungry and just putting out enough talent to get these kinds of games won. He would use these games to get players back from injury fit too. It creates genuine competition in the squad for places.

Only 3 points off City after 25 games not in the race?? C'mon.

It's the same lack of ambition which cost us last season and I'm sick of it at this club.

I agree with you mate. Every time I thought he would rotate, our best players played. I expect the same tonight.

I would rotate heavily, but last season taught me that he won't.

Amrabat, Varane,Martial,Eriksen, Garnacho,Pellistri, Dé Beek, Mount, Maguire and Bayindir are ten players that didn't start against Burnley but some could tonight.

Won't be load of changes as some have predicted with their teams on here. Ten Hag won't want the defence of this title to end in the 3rd round at home. Palace are no mugs only last season Newcastle only edged them via a penalty shoot out at home to progress to the 4th round.

United need to build confidence with a run of wins now also so I'm expecting no more than 3 or 4 changes to the starting team with probably starts for Varane, Amrabat, Garnacho.

To be honest I am pretty sure that part of our issues are linked to fitness.

Against Wolves and Spurs we looked off the pace. We were ok against Arsenal but felt off because of the injuries and the fitness level the last 10 mins.

Against Bayern we were not running anymore after 60 mins.

I think especially after CL and international games the guys had, we need to recharge and before a PL game this weekend, I hope for a major rotation

    Gore at RB? Really?

I don't think having better ideas.

We only have Dalot and Reguilon fit, but Reguilon struggled 3 days ago to finish the game so I would give him a rest also.

I think we can play 3 at the back also, but having Dalot right and Garnacho left can be dangerous too

EtH would be absolutely foolish to play certain players during this game. Take the chance and rotate.

Our issues towards the end of last season were due to this. We actually looked decent for a while in the middle of the season and kept advancing on all fronts, but didn’t have the squad depth to see it through. It wouldn’t surprise me if we get more up to speed in the coming weeks then the same thing happens again.

I think it's more important than ever to play a strong team, win and start to build some confidence / momentum.

We are not in a position to heavily rotate..... A few changes are fine and players to get minutes but some of these line ups are crazy.

    I'd play:

    ------------------------------------------Onana-----------------------------------
    AWB----------------------Varane-------------Martinez-----------------Reguilon
    -------------------------Amrabat---------------Hannibal----------------------
    Pellistri------------------------------Bruno----------------------------------Garnacho
    -----------------------------------------Hojlund-----------------------------------------

Martial, Mount and Maguire to come on to get some much needed minutes. With Casemiro or Eriksen also coming on to replace Amrabat as he comes back to fitness.

Some of those are injured... virtually the entire back four apart from Varane who only just come back.

All the rotation in the World probably wouldn't have stopped Liverpool winning all that would be likely different is the margin of defeat.

Brighton was heading for draw until a debatable penalty deep into added time. Degea gifted the three points to West Ham. Had to play an hour with 10 men with that ridiculous Casemiro sending off against Southampton and then the even more ridiculous suspension he was handed out.

Newcastle at home were fired up to gain revenge for the league cup final loss again I'm not sure if rotation in previous games have made a difference.

Before the season started how many league points were you expecting United to get in year one under a new Manager? And worth taking into account the highest amount of points United have got in the last decade was 81 and to challenge or topple City last season the points required was 89 or 90 points.

Because we haven't yet been traumatised enough watching us this season. We need our weeknights ruined as well as the weekends.
Hahah too true. I was a little confused as it looks like we're also playing CP in the league this weekend

I don't think he will rotate. It's foolhardy , but he seems to like to go full beans in every match. Hopefully he has learned some lessons from last season.

Sky Sports do realise we won on Saturday, right?

Usual team leak source has Martial, Maguire, Amrabat and Mount all starting,

Put Hannibal in there and you have some midfield in terms of physicality and energy. All that would be lacking is Hojlund.

Unless Mount is RW, of course.
