I'm clueless about the line up :( As per usual after a defeat I've avoided all news all week

It's been a Mugabe-style lockdown in my house pretty much since Fergie retired.

We desperately need a polished performance today. Given that our back line is a mess, we couldn't have wished for a more accommodating fixture.

Amazingly, a good performance from McNair probably puts him at the front of the queue to face Arsenal.

Come on UNITED ! Why isn't Blackett playing instead of Carrick, is that something related to the experience at the back four ?
Iam also very unhappy about Falcao being injured, along with Rojo :(

Hopefully its Blind and McNair at the back with Carrick to get 90 mins in midfield. On a day when we should be rubbing our hands together in anticipation of a good thumping I get the feeling it's going to be a nervy 90 minutes because of our non existent defence.

    Prove me wrong United:devil:.

I would not play Blind at centre back as some suggest I would keep Carrick there with McNair or possibly Blackett as the left CB. I actually believe these two are better than the our other CBs, just both lacking experience, Carrick should help with this mind.
I reckon Warnock will go with Campbell up alone and they will look for the long ball over the top or try to get something from set pieces. No brain farts today and we should win comfortably.

I want Herrera back, and Rooney out of midfield. I'm not as excited as I usually am on matchdays, for some reason, but maybe it'll build as I get ready. Hope Wilson gets a goal or two if he starts.

Think we will dominate the game so as much pace and moveability in the final third is important. Therefore my team would be:

De Gea Valencia (if rafa is out) Carrick McNair Shaw Blind Herrera Di Maria Young Rooney Wilson

Nani would have been in there instead of Young if he was not out on loan. Don´t understand why we loaned him out while keeping young and Valencia.

    Would like to see

    -------------DDG---------------
    Valencia - Carrick - McNair - Shaw
    -------------Blind---------------
    ---Herrera--------------------DiMaria-------
    ----------------------Mata--------------
    --------Rooney -
    ---------------------Wilson-----------

Januzaj an RVP don't deserve to start and maybe instead of Mata he should try with Pereira.

So Blind at CB with McNair apparently. With Carrick as the DM.

It's annoying that there are still leaks in the camp.

Who said we don't have a midfield?

Guess we can get away with a makeshift CB for this game, though I'd still prefer natural CB's even if it means having inexperienced players.

Carrick at cb could be ideal against a team like Palace. Good balls into feet from the back should, hopefully, benefit is more than a more defense-orientated cb as we should be dominating possession. So for me no crisis, at least not for this game...

Even with a poor or makeshift defense we should be winning games. Even those scousers got away (to an extent) with a rubbish defense last year. Let's win by at least 3 clear goals, 4-1.

I hope the rumour about Blind in CB isn't true. :( I think it should be Carrick/McNair, with Blind as the DM.

I began my line-up predictions, got a bit confused about who to put in CB and midfield (some warning about six midfielders), was about to give up and then clicked on a few names and stuck Wilson in there. :nervous:

We should be winning this game. Even with a makeshift defence, if we can't beat Palace at OT then it's very concerning.

I hope Di Maria moves back to the midfield role, shove Rooney on the left wing instead.

Herrera should be the first one on the team sheet behind De Gea yet he will most likely be on the bench again...

We need a winning run start from today if we want to catch the 4th spot which I don't see it impossible to reach considering the levels of the other teams which will fight for 4th ( Arsenal-Liverpool-Spurs-Everton) they all were better last season, the only team who is better this year than the previous one is Southampton actually. So 4-5 wining matches can see us really close from 3rd 4th positions. Hope LVG gets it right and start winning.

    ---------------DDG---------------

    Valencia--McNair--Carrick--Shaw

    --------Fellaini------Blind---------

    ---Herrera----Rooney-----ADM---

    -----------------RvP---------------

    4-0, RvP x 2, Rooney, ADM.

Herrera should be the first one on the team sheet behind De Gea yet he will most likely be on the bench again...

    Yep, it's really annoying me.

Looking at the training clips it looks like it will be the same team that played against City, with McNair and blind playing at the back. Sigh

Herrera should be the first one on the team sheet behind De Gea yet he will most likely be on the bench again...

Why? He hasn't been that good. Certainly doesn't deserve to be on there before Di Maria, Shaw, Rooney, Rafael etc.

I think this will be closer than we'd like maybe 2-1 or something.

Why? He hasn't been that good. Certainly doesn't deserve to be on there before Di Maria, Shaw, Rooney, Rafael etc.

On the contrary, he has been very good.

Fellaini against Chelsea and City was a smart idea but I think Herrera should start this one.

I hope for a Carrick and Mcnair as CBs and Blind as a CM, no point in putting him at CB since he played CM since the beginning of the year.

Dont know what formation we'll play. Maybe diamond back - Herrera, Blind, Di Maria-Rooney-RVP, Wilson.

    ---------------DDG-------------
    -------Carrick------Blackett-----

    ---------------RVP-------------

He actually has been that good.

Blind to start as CB with McNair apparently, will be an intersting to see how that works out.

:confused:Yes he has been that good.

He's our best midfielder imo, and it's really annoying that he hasn't played a minute of football for two weeks.
