Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Well, they are five spots above in the league and in good form (three wins in the last four games). On top of that, this United side has proven over several years that it can't really be trusted, even when there is something positive to build on. We have leaked unnecessary goals recently and still don't have the most reliable offense. There are plenty of reasons to believe this could be tight game decided on a few key moments, which could go against us.
It’s really a small club mentality, we shouldn’t pursue this route.

Bournemouth are quite solid defensively. I expect a low scoring game 1-1 draw or 2-1 Utd.

Yes. I always get nervous when we play little Bournemouth. They have a very clever coach.
But so do we now, so we ought to win this.

and pumped us 3-0 on their last visit to OT.

That match was over a year ago and our starting 11 had Martial as the striker, Antony at RW, McTominay and Amrabat as a 2-man MF and a back 4 of Dalot-Maguire-Shaw-Reguilon

I would think us drawing at Dean Court 2-2 in April would be a tad bit more relevant

But both aren't as relevant since those were under ETH in a different system with potentially only Bruno, Onana, Dalot and Maguire being the only players that started in both matches that will start in this one.

It’s really a small club mentality, we shouldn’t pursue this route.
Complete nonsense. There is nothing "small club mentality" about looking at the quality of this team and being objective enough to say that we might not win today. We are not 13th in the league almost halfway through by chance - it's partly because the team seriously lacks quality.

I really hope the team doesn't automatically think they will win, because they play for a big club.

We need 3 points today. We are basically treading water right now and we are gifting goals for fun over last couple of games. Need to get off to a good start and keep it up for 90 mins, no switching off.

    Onana

De Ligt - Maguire - Yoro

    Dalot - Casemiro - Ugarte - Mazraoui

    Amad - B.Fernandes

    Zirkzee
subs: Heaton, Evans, Martinez, Malacia, Mainoo, Eriksen, Antony, Garnacho, Hojlund

score prediction: Manchester United 2-2 AFC Bournemouth

Look at the xG for opp in the 8 games Amorim has been in charge, and you can see where the goals come from: defensive brain farts by our players! Question is: can our players individually and collectively concentrate for 90+ min today? Not convinced going by their track record!

It’s unexplainable why people forecast anything but our win. It’s fecking Bournemouth at Old Trafford, not Barcelona away

Did you say the same thing before we played Forest at home?

My Ideal team for this would be
    Onana
Yoro - Maguire - De Ligt
    Maz/Dalot - Ugarte - Bruno - Maz/Malacia
    Amad - Hojlund - Garnacho

"Must win" or what? Ruben has 2 more games to save his job?

He's come in a quarter way through a clusterfeck of a season, trying to implement his own system with a hotch potch motley crew of a squad, none of whom are "his" players, a squad that struggles to score goals and defend set pieces, and now he "must" win a game against one of the most in-form teams in the league!

This season, in the league at least, is a write off. This is all about Amorim learning about which players he can trust to learn play in his system and which players need to be f**ked off. We're gonna get some good results like last week in the Etihad but we're also gonna get some bad results like Forest at home a few weeks ago and very possibly Bournemouth at home today.

Maybe he could go safe for the rest of the season, revert back to a system the players are more familiar and comfortable with and we might eke out a respectable 6th or 7th place finish, and it might even give him a better chance of winning some games like today. But it won't do him or us any good in the long run because he'll learn f**k all about the players he has, and it'll be groundhog day again next season.

This! Think the result will depend on United eliminating or keeping errors at a minimum. Can't gift goals like we have been doing.

Who says 2 games to save his job?

I have no issue with people being confident however we also need to be realistic as well. Fans get carried away but we need to remember where we are as a team.

Yes we have seen progress in our play but we are still fragile and teams have no fear coming to Old Trafford. Bournemouth, Forest, Brighton etc. They are well coached teams and it will be a tough game today.

About Bournemouth, going into today's game....
    • Only Liverpool, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have earned more points across the past 10 matches than Bournemouth's 17.
    • The Cherries can win three consecutive away league games for the first time in a year, when a run of four victories on the road included a 3-0 triumph at Old Trafford.
    • However, Bournemouth have only kept only two clean sheets in 19 Premier League away fixtures since beating United.
    • Andoni Iraola's side have scored a league-high eight Premier League goals by substitutes. Their last three goals were scored by players off the bench, in minutes 87, 95 and 90.
    • Only Manchester City have had more shots in the Premier League than Bournemouth's 270.

Nothing unexplainable about it. There's a reason United are 13th. This team is nowhere near good enough to have this kind of attitude. Not to mention Bournemouth pumped United 3:0 in this fixture last season and in the reverse one United barely got to 2:2 draw after facing 20 shots. Things have improved somewhat since then but not enough to expect a win against them, especially considering they are better now as well. I think this will be a very difficult game.

Another game like the Everton one please. Plenty of goals. No mistakes at the back! Let’s win with a clean sheet.

The last one is embarrassing for city considering they can’t score goals anymore.

Sorry, but this is a weird mentality. We are clearly statistical favourites and badly need the win anyways. How can we not expect a win against Bournemouth?

You probably said the same against Forest. Bournemouth are a better side than them.

I expect a win and think we can do it under Amorim.

Doesn't exclude how we had 70% possession, more shots etc last season but lost 3-0 at home. Just recently we're 3-1 down to Forest in around 50 mins at home, both teams very strong physically and direct in attack and don't need much possession to score. We dominated Forest yet their big lads had no issues. Spurs went 3-0 up last game and were again a more physical side, we dominated the play yet we're 3-0 down.

Today we could have 70% possession but if we don't score and Bournemouth stride forward with one attack and score or power in a corner we're back to the same old problem and become unsettled to conceding more.

Who says 2 games to save his job?

It's a rhetorical question to the posters who are saying today is "must win".

So if it's "must win" and he doesn't win, should that not mean his job is under pressure?

I want them to explain what "must win" means in this context. Because we're playing a team higher up the table than us, more settled than us, and in better form than us.

I genuinely dreamt this result last night.
    4-0 Hojlund x2, Amad & Garna

Dreams are of course complete and utter bollocks but still....

Apparently de Ligt and Rashford missing from squad that's arrived at OT. De Ligt will be a miss, presumably still ill. But Maguire has been good recently.

Who says 2 games to save his job?
    Too many games.

Fact is it's now or never for Amorim.

This isn't Sporting Clube de Crap. It's Billy Big Bollocks United. If he can't cut it here, he's done. Ratcliffe is right to wield the axe as he has. If Amorim does not win today never mind sacked he should be flayed and stocked with ill children charged full premium to pelt his pleading cadaver with rotten chicken.

    Sick of excuses for failure.

Mazraoui-Maguire-Licha at the back I presume.

    Amad-Ugarte-Mainoo-Dalot
    Bruno-Garnacho
    Zirkzee/Højlund

    The rest, is my guess.

This is a must win. We can go into the top half of the table cause I’m expecting Spurs to lose tomorrow. We can also go above Bournemouth in the table with a win. We will still be 6 points away from top 4 which is better than being 9 points away.
And is much better than 6pts from relegation.

2 games to save his job, who is saying that, who ever it is is talking utter shite ?
FFS already talking games to save his job is mental
