Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • We are for sure a better team than Bournemouth. Our form has been on the rise last couple of games.
This is a league game so our best players will all start again

Must win here. Have a chance to climb the table and move within 2 points of city.

This is a must win. We can go into the top half of the table cause I’m expecting Spurs to lose tomorrow. We can also go above Bournemouth in the table with a win. We will still be 6 points away from top 4 which is better than being 9 points away.

    Thanks Michael

3 points here is a must, anything less is unacceptable

I actually agree. To beat City on their own ground the way we did, and then lose this would be classic post Ferguson woe. To win this would be a statement that things are actually progressing.

I know Martinez wasn’t at his best but I’d still start him in this. His ability on the ball is always missed when he doesn’t play.

The mistakes that cost us against Spurs were horrendous but we wont have Bayindir and Lindelof of the pitch against Bournemouth and hopefully drop Martinez so wont do the same again.

Must win this game like others have echoed.

Big chance to gain some momentum.

Bournemouth are the better side these days. That’s just how it is. Semenyo, Kluivert and Evanilson can be a menace, especially if they focus Martinez. But all they really need to do is to get a couple of corners. Still, expecting an even game.

    2:2

Lindelof came off at 1-0 and did nothing wrong in the goal.

Three points here will go a long way but this will be a fight if they want them. Bournemouth can cause problems and a well functioning side.

    Hopefully we can do enough.

Maguire coming back into the starting 11 will help. Can see the team resembling what RA sees as our current best. A good indication of where we are at. Can see this being a comfortable win against a good side.

    3-1

Feeling confident. Hope he stops shuffling the deck and starts playing his best team.

    Should win this.

Result against Spurs showed we can't make lots of key changes and expect consistency yet. Bayindir, Lindelof, Eriksen and Antony all definitely not first choice, and errors resulted.

Get back to something more like a first choice XI and I'd expect at least as good a performance as we put in against City, which should be enough vs Bournemouth.

    I'd love to see:

    Onana
    Yoro De Ligt Martinez
    Mazraoui Mainoo Ugarte Garnacho*
    Amad Bruno
    Hojlund
*I know there's no chance of this, but I'll keep banging the drum anyway. Dalot is neither defending nor attacking well on this side. So what is there to lose? In the shining future we're aiming for, this WB position should be filled by a smart, hard-working attacking player, not a defender. Garnacho has the defensive work-rate, surely he's young enough to learn the positional stuff.

I think Rashford should get a chance from the bench, not from starting. He needs to realise this shut-out wasn't just a stunt, and that he needs to earn his place. From the bench, you only get chances if you show energy and work for them.

How good are they from set pieces? That seems to be where this team is truly incapable and the part of the game I feel needs some serious attention, fast.

We need to start picking based on form, so Zirkzee in for Hojlund is a must and Maguire should also start after his performance last week. Otherwise, looks good. I’m also on the “try Garnacho at LWB train”.

Every second post saying this is a "must win" game. Bournemouth are 5 places ahead of us in the league, have won 3 and drawn 1 of their last 4 league games and pumped us 3-0 on their last visit to OT.

Are we piling the pressure on Ruben already?

    Onana
    Mazraoui - Maguire - Martinez
    Antony - Mainoo - Ugarte - Dalot
    Amad - Bruno
    Hojlund

My guess is that De Ligt is on the bench(best case) since he was sick on Thursday.
And based on Amorims comments about Antony needing to build his confidence, I’m guessing he gives him the chance to do just that from the RWB alongside Amad and our best 11.

They have scored 6 goals from set pieces (excluding penalties) which is slightly above average I guess. Only Arsenal (9) and Forest (7) are better.

That's a bit of a negative way of looking at it. Personally I think we're playing reasonably well, certainly far better than earlier in the season, but if we could just cut out individual errors and tighten up our defending set pieces. We've gave away very little chances in open play in all of those games, Ipswich probably the exception infact.
    This!

Why are the players turning up to OT 4 hours early? I thought it was like 2 hours early

For me it's a case of showing that the progress is real. We can all see our general play has improved, which is all well and good but if we can't get a win at home against a side like Bournemouth, it's going to be a major blow, especially off the back of a city win. That's why it's a must win.

scoring goals our major issue. hope a few can step up and take the creative burden off Diallo, Bruno and Hojlund

It’s unexplainable why people forecast anything but our win. It’s fecking Bournemouth at Old Trafford, not Barcelona away

Well, they are five spots above in the league and in good form (three wins in the last four games). On top of that, this United side has proven over several years that it can't really be trusted, even when there is something positive to build on. We have leaked unnecessary goals recently and still don't have the most reliable offense. There are plenty of reasons to believe this could be tight game decided on a few key moments, which could go against us.

Winning this game could be a vital platform for going into the 2nd half of the season.

Talking about might have's, is a bit pointless, but think of this…..
Had we beaten Forest 2 weeks ago , it would have put us in a position where a win today against Bournemouth, would see us in 4th place (on goal difference) by this evening.
    Go check the table !

As it stands though, 3 points today could see us in 9th or 10th place this evening, just 3 points off 5th spot.

Win today and win the next 2 games and whatever other teams results, we will be in a good position going into the new year and would mean less pressure for the away game at Liverpool.

I'd genuinely like to see the dynamic of Garnacho and Amad as the 2 no10's. Maybe with Bruno getting a rest and Cas and Ugarte being the midfield pair.
