    BOURNEMOUTH'S STARTING XI
Bournemouth: Boruc, Smith, Cook, Mings, Daniels, Surman, Arter, Fraser, Pugh, King, Afobe.

Subs: Allsop, Cargill, Smith, Gosling, Ibe, Wilshere, Gradel.

Every time this season that I've thought we've gone into a match without enough pace, we've played really well. Hopefully that continues today and really hoping Shaw has a cracker!

I hope we get a goal early, because the lack of pace in the team does worry me a bit.

Pretty much every game Shaw manages to play from now till season end will be crucial for him. He's entering the final year in his contract, if he does not convince Mou by summer that he deserves his place then he might go. So let's hope he does well today

Really? Time flies. I remember just before he got injured thinking he was absolutely tacked on to become world class. Haven't seen anything from him yet this season but fingers crossed he starts taking his chances.

    Herrera a surprise absentee
I am trying to steer clear of the Bournemouth website boys in the United press box as I’m thinking they may assume I am in cahoots with Jose Mourinho and have sold them a pup.

They were in touch in midweek for a preview of the game and I was asked, apart from the obvious Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was a key influential player for the Reds.

I told them extensively that Ander Herrera, in my opinion, was one Bournemouth would have to watch out for….he’s not playing! Oops sorry lads.

if we can't keep that shambles locked into their box for 90 mins then wtf. That is a championship XI

Just want Shaw to focus on his positioning and movement. Been crap this season at supporting his attacking partner.

8/11 Happy with the three I was wrong about though, completely missed both cbs and rooney.

Bailly's getting two whole weeks off assuming he starts at Chelsea. Decent decision considering his recent form, cup final performance, trip to Africa in the middle of his first season in the PL after a big move at 22 years old. Take some time off, lad.

Good team, but I always worry when our midfield hasnt got Herrera in it.

In Pogba and Carrick, you've got a lot of creativity, but very little intensity.

Bournemouth, despite thier poor form, play with loads of energy.

Think the quality should eventually decide the game, though.

Good way to give Ander a rest as a three man midfield not needed and you would think Carrick can cope with Bournemouth. Bailly suspended for Rostov game so he is getting a really good rest before the F.A. Cup.

We did look a bit tired against Southampton as someone else said, good to rotate a bit. Quite surprised Ibra isn't on the bench rather than the starting 11. He look totally drained at wembly!

I am convinced they just plug Zlatan into a socket between games.

Wilshere struggling to get in the Bournemouth team?

Maybe because he's been great in the last two games he played. Deserves to be on the bench. Or why don't you think so?
I do, but he's not really a very defensive option for both full-back positions. And it's consistent with Mourinho squad picks recently. Also, I think he might get a start in Russia.

Hope so, as I think we need to rest Valencia in one of the three games in the space of six days. So would also go for Young at Rostov and Valencia against Chelsea and, depending on result on thursday, Rostov at home.

The more I'm looking at that team, the more I'm liking it. Solidity at the back with a nice balance of pace, flair and creativity in the middle and up front. Really looking forward to see how this lineup performs, especially against Bournemouth. Should easily get at least 3 here.

The only true surprise is Herrera being rested (hopefully), probably ahead of starting in Russia? Pogba-Carrick midfield two, although rare, is not a first, we've played both Feyenoord and Fenerbahçe home games with them.

Rooney starting a game now qualifies as 'Breaking News'.

Seems a bit of over-confident team selection from Mourinho, he must really think Bournemouth are in shambles.

When Rooney starts I begin to feel uneasy for what should be a routine win.

Jose is using the squad, for which I don't blame him. Few observations...

Really pleased Shaw is getting a starting spot, hope he seizes it. Jones/Rojo didn't let us down before so I'm confident they'll be strong enough to hold off Bournemouth.

Herrera needed a rest, I'm just a bit worried Carrick/Pogba might get over-run.

Rooney, meh, give him a game I guess. Could be worse.

My main concern is we have absolutely no pace in the team apart from Valencia and Martial, so I'm not expecting an exciting game. I'll stick with 3-0 but now, looking at the team and a lack of pace, 1-0 wouldn't surprise me.

Didn't see Shaw starting even with Jose's comments yesterday. Surprising, but I'm okay with it.

Rest of the team is okay. Changes to be expected so I don't have too much complaints.

Wayne starting makes me feel sick, our 11 today is has the softest centre possible.

I hope I am wrong but I can't help but think we're going to lack penentration up front and legs in midfield. I'm picturing an LVG style performance around goal.

I don't mind rotation but seeing Rooney does not fill me with any sort of confidence. I guess it could be worse if Fellaini was also starting.

So Mourinho has benched 2 defenders who were poor in the league cup final and leaked 2 goals. Exited to see Shaw back. Rojo Jones combo in defense again wonder who would have thought about their partnership in defense. Herrera gets deserved rest.

I'm thinking that Jose wants Jones/Rojo to play in Russia so wants a bit of match rhythm for the pair, with Bailly/Smalling returning for the Chelsea game.
