Weirdly negative outlook from some of you. Surely lots more to be positive about going forward. Villa are certainly a good side now and have created some good chances but we've had 13 shots and been in loads of good positions that we've fecked up. We're hardly going to go from absolute shite to controlled domination in a single bound. The change of formation was the right move and we're creating for the first time in weeks. Baby steps, lads.

Which surely top players are capable of? When was the last time Rashford did something that made you sit up and go, wow didn’t expect that.
I can definitely say that it wasn't when he blasted that 30 yard free kick into the wall, that's for sure

It's like an illness being a United fan these days isn't it? Tell yourself you're going to try and avoid it for the good of your sanity... then half an hour before kick off, you start getting excited again.
    Absolutely. We are masochists.

from the side on view greenwood is always behind the defender, an angle never appeared for a clear pass

I thought he could’ve passed it ahead of Greenwood to run onto. But he also passed it when it would’ve been better to shoot at that point.

How can Mctomminay play like this and then around two levels below the next game? If he maintained this he'd be a beast.
Scoring a goal and having a shot doesn’t make it a good game our midfield have been poor

Rashford has to be subbed for that. Embarrassing play twice in this half. Can’t stand him at the moment. Not a team player at all.

He’s over playing all the time. He beats his man and checks back. He beats his man and wants to beat 2-3 more. Or he squares up his man and dithers then lays it to Shaw under pressure. The one time he shifted it and crosses Cavani got on the end of it.

It's been miles better than against Wolves. Much better attitude and intensity. However, we do look a bit frantic and sloppy at times. Could easily be behind, or 3 or 4 up. We really need a Fabinho/Rodri to give us more control and make us more difficult to play through. Nice to feel a bit more entertained than last week though.

So far I have not seen Rangnick change much at half time. This time I pray to God he makes some changes either personnel or tactically or we are out of the cup.

He's had a lot of space to receive the ball, but once he's got the ball he's ballsed up every opportunity by waiting too long or making the wrong decision. How can that be classed as an improved performance? It's basically AWB every week, given tons of space but creates feck all despite it.
Not everyone plays like fecking Messi sir, the chances will come.

Yea we stringed some passes together at times... I guess that's an improvement. The standards have been lowered beyond belief but I get your point.

It's not about standards as far as I'm concerned. It's about how poor the level of performance and seemingly morale has been. You don't turn things around immediately.

i take the point though and I'm being patient at the moment. RR hasn't even had 10 games yet.

Oh aye Peter McParland, what a hero you are. Injure the keeper, grab a couple of goals against nine men and a defender between the posts and hold on for a single goal win. fecking scumbag, I don't care it it's 65 years ago!

I thought this was alittle more positive showing. Certain elements in Ralphs style are coming through, slowly granted.

This was never going to be a quick fix, some of you know that though.

Feel for Rashford, nothings coming off for him and then you have the toxic cnuts on here slagging him off
Should we be applauding selfish performances then? He's had tons of space on the ball but chosen the selfish option pretty much every fecking time. Is that something to celebrate?

    Rashford played well imo.

He's actually a threat in this game unlike in his previous appearances.

Yeah made worse by the fact that Greenwood doesn’t run quick enough to make the ball easier. They started level. But of course the Caf doesn’t care.
If he'd run in front of him he couldn't have scored a goal due to the pesky offside rule.

    Thanks.

Any good player just nudges that into the wide-open area and it's a 1v1. Not Rashy though... So fecked off by him and his selfishness.
What you're saying here would be incredibly hard to do. That ball flight isn't one you can run onto, it's held up and there are enough Villa players, never going to be 1v1. You can argue he could have poked it through to Bruno and that would at least have retained possession.
