That's why rangnick should bench these players and play the kids. Otherwise he'll only himself to blame for putting trust in vipers to be "professional".
If ronaldo was playing today then rashford wouldn't be getting the stick he is at the moment because ronaldo would have been lazier.
It’s not so much Van De Beek as it was the position he came on and played. We were really under the kosh but got control once we brought Van De Beek on and pushed Bruno forward (maybe Villa ran out of steam a bit but the substitution coincided with it). It just seems like we need that 3rd midfielder even if individually they aren’t great to add the balance in there. We beat Arsenal with Matic, Fred and McTominay. I’d rather have Van De Beek in there as he’s a bit more attack minded. Maybe Pogba once he’s fit again.
Bruno just seems incapable of maintaining possession so he has to go into that false 9 role or as a wide forward if we are going to play a 3-man midfield.
I found Rashfords work rate ok today. It’s his decision making I can’t handle. He beats players then tries to go past another or he checks back. He doesn’t pass to a team mate until it’s too late. He squares up defenders then just dithers on the ball. He’s slowing down our attacks by being indecisive.
In general though we’ve got a huge problem of selfishness in the attackers. Greenwood, Ronaldo, Rashford and Bruno are regularly taking on shots when they should pass or dribbling down blind alleys or failing to use an overlap. It also shows up in a lack of of the ball movement. You have to make selfless runs sometimes.
We seem to be trying to play 3-4 goal scorers but while Bruno can score and assist the others don’t do much. The reason Firmino was key to Liverpool was often the way he facilitated Mane and Salah. I don’t think Ronaldo is more to blame than the other attackers but you can see how Cavani at least keeps it simple and keeps the ball moving. He only shoots when he has a good opening.
I don’t know if you can quickly resolve that kind of thing as a lot ego seems at play. Somehow we have to get these guys excited at setting each other up as well as scoring goals.- Status
