    ------------- De Gea -------------
    ---- Jones - Smalling - Rojo ----
    Valencia -------------------Young
    -------- Herrera -- Blind --------
    --------------- Mata --------------
    -------- ?????? -- Rooney -------

Would like to see Blind and Carrick start, should give us a solid base with Mata, Di Maria and Young behind Rooney.

Play Mata and Rooney and we will beat them. Home advantage should see two teams in similar positions this season of not playing well but still having some good quality here and there.

    De Gea

    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw

    Carrick Blind

    Di Maria Herrera Young

    Rooney

Either this or Herrera in place of Carrick, with Mata getting Herrera's place.

    *rafael-smalling-rojo-shaw
    ----herrera-carrick
    januzaj - mata - young
    ----------rooney

if falcao can be benched, then so can di maria.

*rafeal is entirely unlikely, but i'd rather have him than valencia.

    ----- de gea
    rafael - smalling - rojo - shaw
    ---herrera - carrick - blind
    januzaj - rooney - young

    @Ballache for the inspiration

I would love to see Rafael given a chance but it's unlikely. I would also start Di Maria as dropping him would kill his confidence IMO and he wasn't that bad against Newcastle. As for Herrera ahead of Mata, I'd like to see Juan back in the starting 11 now we're playing with wingers and a Base of Blind and Carrick is more than enough defensive cover which would leave him free to do damage in the final third.

I wonder how Arsenal will set up. Will they play their normal game or look to hit us on the counter? They did a job on City doing the latter but they also came unstuck against Spurs where I felt they showed Tottenham far too much respect.

0-0 would be a good result for us. If that doesn't happen, then I guess it's 2-1 to United. Can't see us winning at OT. Not in this form anyway.

Our home form is excellent. And the best thing is that Arsenal will come to OT, to "play". They won't try what Southampton did, when they played for a draw and parked the bus. So this could work well for us.

We won't be able to dominate possession, ...

    What makes you think that?
We have now been playing possession football for a while now.
We may not be great in the final third of the pitch, but one thing we definitely know, is how to dominate possession.
In our last game vs Arsenal, we couldnt dominate possesion because: we had little experience at possession football, we had many injuries and we were playing away.

At home, our fans always complain that we play badly, but we seem to find it easy to win at home by 2 clear goals.

Here is he last few home fixtures:

They'll play their normal game and aim to pass the ball forward in an orderly fashion.
The top teams usually attempt to force the game to be played in the way which suits them. That's why they win most of their games.

Hoping for a repeat of the score of the last (?) FA cup game against Arse at Old Trafford, when Fergie played 7 or 8 defenders and Wenger still had no clue.

put our fastest 4 upfront. Sit back, nick the ball , score on the counter. Simples

That in itself is a very good picture of reality. The style of play may not be what we are use to or that we prefer, and hopefully it will change next year, but you have to give credit where credit is due.

Naturally, we will now get the response, but all those teams were shit or in shit form. Can't please some people.

I just got my first 'Are you sure you want to pick 6 midfielders?' warning in a while.

    ----------------De Gea-------------
    Valencia---Smalling--Rojo--Shaw
    -----Fellaini----Carrick---Blind---
    ---Di Maria----Rooney-----Young-

Sit back, let them have the ball, then counter. The same as most Arsenal games. Evans in for Shaw if he's still out.

I cling to the hope that a big game like this one will bring the best out of the players. Too many feel out of form at the moment.
Surely they will all be up for a cup 1/4 final against the Gooners?

    --------------------------De Gea-------------------------
    Valencia--------Smalling------------Rojo----------Shaw
    ------------------Carrick--------Blind---------------------
    Young------------------Herrera----------------Di Maria
    --------------------------Rooney---------------------------

Not sure about Young, maybe Januzaj would be better but it seems Ashley is having a momentum so let him be. Solid as feck, and hopefully Di Maria or Herrera create something for Rooney.

This for me. Can still see Fellaini getting the nod over Herrera though.

Imagine this time last year people wanting Young to start.

there was a time around late December or early January I think where he played very well and gave us real threat. Shortly before our poor form hit.

Think we will line up like this

Just realised it's a Monday game, very glad about it because my parents come to visit me tomorrow and I couldn't watch it if it were Saturday or Sunday. Monday though

The thought of Martin Keown crying into his mic as we fluke our way to Wembley makes the wait till monday worth it.

Blind vs Welbeck or Sanchez.... In terms of pace we can do better

I'm sure Shaw won't make it, but I guess Rojo will be lined as left back, and it will be Jones Smalling there

Jones was only ill, and he played every game (with Rojo yes)

Or LVG can deploy his 3-5-2 with Jones - Smalling - Rojo

    :D

I love Monday matches either way - just feels more special than on a Saturday or Sunday.

Evening matches always have a better atmosphere than afternoon matches. Can be harder for travelling fans of course.

    Definitely.

On a pure selfish level it is also better for me, as I like to go about my everday business and then suddenly realize that there's a United match waiting for me in the evening. Not the same in the weekend.

I think Fellani is too slow for a mobile Arsenal side. When you look at Blind and Carrick as well, not exactly a mobile midfield.

I think Di Maria will get lots of room so I would keep him, so I am looking for Mata/Herrera to make that other position. Probably play a 4-4-1-1 where Di Maria and Young provide the attacking width.
