    I would play:

    De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
Fellaini - Carrick - Di Maria
    Januzaj - Rooney - Young

    • Two attacking full backs
    • Carrick holding and starting play
    • Fellaini playing the box to box role. Did well playing there against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
    • Di Maria to give us drive from midfield and run in behind if Rooney comes short
    • Januzaj and Young to keep width
omg no herrera lvg u dumb stubborn moronic bellend go back to holland

    (that will be the reaction)

    --Valencia------Smalling-----Rojo--------Shaw--
    ---------------------Carrick--Blind---------------
    ---Januzaj-------------Herrera----------Young---
    -------------------------Rooney----------------------

Don't want to see Di Maria anywhere near the starting 11, he's bottles 2 games in a row so he should be benched. Maybe LVG will bring Falcao back into the team, I'm not sure if that's a good idea though. Carrick usually plays well against Arsenal and we need him at full fitness for the run in. After L'pool and City, Arsenal are the team I hate most, would love to knock them out the cup.

Huge game this, even if it's the FA cup and not the premier league. Could make or break our confidence.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Carrick Blind
    Di Maria Herrera Young
    Rooney

This is exactly the line-up I'm hoping we'll see.

I don't have a problem with the proposed lineup, but it would be interesting to see this:

    ---------Rooney-----
    DiMaria-Mata-Herrera
    -----Blind--Carrick

as the front 6. We are at home, so I think there's a case for risking it a bit and having Mata as the 10 on the counter rather than Young out wide and Herrera at the 10, though both would be fine.

Carrick will presumably only be able to go around an hour, so expect Herrera deep at that point (or Fellaini in a rare DM/CM appearance) and a winger coming on or Mata coming on at the 10.

Di Maria on the left seems safer in that he's losing the ball a lot right now and better he lose it trying to go outside than cutting in. Also, on the break, I like his odds to get the better of Bellerin at some point and get a cross in for Rooney.

Form goes out the window for this game.

We won't be able to dominate possession, so LvG will have to completely change his usual gameplan. Nobody can have any idea how well the side will rise to the challenge.

In a weird way it's good that this game is 'only' in the FA Cup. We're about to have a run of difficult fixtures, so it'll be useful for the manager to test his tactics in a competition which isn't one of his season's main targets.

A home match and the only cup we are challenging. We should be winning this..

    --------------De Gea----------------
    Valencia---Smalling/Jones-----Rojo-----Shaw
    ------ Herrera ---------- Blind------
    ADM-----------Mata---------Young
    ---------- Rooney ----------------

0-0 would be a good result for us. If that doesn't happen, then I guess it's 2-1 to United. Can't see us winning at OT. Not in this form anyway.

    Arsenal down to 10 men..
Young and Mata score 1 each and Rooney scores from the spot..
Giroud with a goal for Arsenal..

    3-1 :)

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Evans Shaw
    Carrick Blind
    Di Maria Herrer Young
    Rooney
Sit back and hit them on the counter. Arsenal will always provide those opportunities. Though, I expect them to adopt similar tactics, and this could be a really drab affair. I have no confidence is our manager, but still believe in the quality of our players.

Don't want any replays. Win or lose.

    See us nicking this 2-1.

I'll go with this, and from my viewpoint we have played a 4-2-3-1 the last two games (the line-up against Sunderland being the more obvious one), with Blind and Herrera passing the ball between them, one #10 (Rooney/Fellaini), two wide wingers and a striker. As you said, 4-2-3-1, 4-1-4-1, 4-3-3, minor differences.

Will be interesting to see what possession percentage we would get out of that team against Arsenal. I'm quite excited, this will be our first really tough fixture we've had in a while, people have been complaining that we've only been looking good because our opponents have been weak (which is true to some extent). Now we are facing the real deal.

Time for LvG to show the fans that there is some reasoning behind what he has built so far.

Rooney is bound to be played up front. Maybe Carrick will get a game. Young is an important United player now. Maybe Evans is shaking off his demons. I think we need to keep playing Di Maria, Herrera, and it will come good. But not quite yet. More important to win the game v Arsenal in May than this one. Can't see us winning both. Maybe a draw, my crystal ball says.

The match prediction yoke is flummoxed with Valencia. Is he a defender or a midfielder? Are you sure you want to...

This overconfidence is just begging to be pierced. Our best chance at the FA cup in ages and it'd be typical for them to get a long overdue win over us.

If United end the season with FA Cup Winners medals it would give the entire club a huge lift.

    Huge Game!

Hopefully we get some momentum after the win over Newcastle. 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 we should play. The big decisions for me is first of all drop Fellaini for Carrick or Mata. Personally maybe best to start with Carrick in there next to Blind and Herrera which will allow Herrera to go very attacking. Then Di Maria or Januzaj. Di Maria has been so poor lately, but he has it in him to raise himself in the big games. Tough call there to make I would say. I would probably start Januzaj and give him the confidence. Then Di Maria may get his chance in second half with less pressure and when he has all to win instead.

    Guessing:
    De Gea

    Valencia - Smalling - Rojo - Blind

di Maria - Carrick - Herrera - Young

    Fellaini - Rooney

    Hope to see this.
    De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Rojo - Young
    Blind
    Fellaini-Herrera
    Di Maria
    Falcao-Rooney

Given the way Arsenal played against City, a few weeks back, I don't think this is the forgone conclusion we all expect. Think they'll sit back, allowing us to keep the ball for most of the game, and try to play on the counter. We'll probably bore them to death and, as result, we'll win 1-0.

Surely we just play our standard "First Choice XI" for this one - no point messing about

    De Gea
    Valencia - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    Carrick - Blind
    Herrera
    Di Maria - Young
    Rooney

Subs: GK, Jones, Fellaini, Januzaj, Mata, Falcao, Wilson

    Please.

    ----------------De Gea
    ----------Smalling------Rojo
    Valencia----------------------Shaw
    ----------Carrick------Blind
    ---Mata--------Herrera------Young
    ----------------Rooney

Someone (RVP?) needs to ask Theo if he wants to switch sides. Wenger just has him sitting there, despite his scoring when he's played since injury.

    Come Theo.

    --------------------------De Gea-------------------------
    Jones--------Smalling------------Evans------------Rojo
    ---------------Carrick--------Blind-----------------------
    Young------------------Mata--------------------Di Maria
    ------------------------Rooney---------------------------

Should be solid. Bring Valencia on for Jones if not getting enough attacking traction.

Bench: Valencia, Fellaini, Falcao, Januzaj, Shaw, Herrera, Valdes

    --------------------------De Gea-------------------------
    Valencia--------Smalling------------Rojo----------Shaw
    ------------------Carrick--------Blind---------------------
    Young------------------Herrera----------------Di Maria
    --------------------------Rooney---------------------------

Not sure about Young, maybe Januzaj would be better but it seems Ashley is having a momentum so let him be. Solid as feck, and hopefully Di Maria or Herrera create something for Rooney.
