I am off to somewhere more fruitful, hopefully, but listen guys don't start getting on Valencia's case. He put in a good effort, and anyone can make a mistake. Love y'all.
Thanks for defending Valencia. I thought he played well, except for the mistake.

Agreed, find it hard to chew him out too much as it could have been anyone and he really put himself about, made some cracking tackles and got forward as much as he could. Was nowhere to be seen for the 1st goal either, but what do you expect when you're playing a winner at full back?

Fair enough. I do agree they did feck all in the second half really, which is one of the most annoying things for me. I still do feel we gave away a lot of our attacking momentum by slowing our midfield down so radically though. It's fine that we disagree though, it's be fecking shit if we all thought the same thing.
Yeah, it's good we could of had a civil discussion about something, not so often these days on here.

The Arsenal Version of Welbeck stumbles everywhere on the pitch, but scores when he goes through. I missed our Version of Welbeck today. You know, the one who would do everything right, but stumble in the box

I thought he would actually miss, when he went through.

On the first goal, Valencia filled in for Smalling who was out far right. Then, Smalling decided to run back to the centre position instead covering the right side. After that, DiMaria didn't cover for Smalling's mistake. Valencia played it right. He covered for Smalling. At that time Smalling's responsibility was to cover at RB.

While we've had comments on player ratings, i must say hate how extreme many of the voters get when United lose and give players scores like 3 and 4.

Serious lack of discipline in our squad after Fergie left
    Can't agree more!

Reminds me of when Becks appeared on Graham Norton he talked about his mohawk hair. He had a hat on in the dressing room because "Sir Alex had not seen it get." And when SAF saw it said Becks had to shave it before he went on to the pitch (it was an hour before KO).

"At first I said no, but when I saw his face changed, I went to shave it in the toilet"

This is called discipline and even now when he's talking about it, he's explaining how he understood SAF's point, club image, game being at Wembley... etc. those relationship are gold and it's one of many reasons we were the best club in the country and one if best in the world.

I so miss our Sir Alex and our players under him.

The best we've played in a long time yet we lose. It's still not good enough. We need to attack more!

I thought United played really well tonight in the first half. The first half was probably one of the best halves I've seen you play this season and Rooney was really worrying me.. he looked a constant threat. Thankfully, we picked up the pace in the second half and obviously got the goal. The goal was lucky but with that said we should have scored another one or two but for the brilliance of De Gea. The guy is immense (even though he made a poor decision for Welbeck's goal - but Valencia forced his hand and it's hard to leave any blame at his door as a result).

It was a feisty, great cup tie. The atmosphere was good too (from both ends, credit where it is due.. I haven't heard United so loud in a while.)

I'm really struggling here to find any evidence of ill discipline. We've got a lot of problems, discipline isn't one.

despite some rumours to the contrary, he isn't a god

Didn't say he was, but a severly underhit backpass, I thought he did well to almost get there. The only critism I would have of him, is that he should have taken Welbeck out (even if it meant a red card)

Then that is serious lack of footballing intelligence.

Haha... you have to be blind mate! I am sorry but it is true.

Well we are looking at the big picture here. Under Sir Alex, everyone each and every player wanted to win for the manager. The discipline of working as a team, the discipline of being told what to do and minimise the chance of being sent off. Last night Di Maria's action leading to his Red card for example we have been lacking discipline in the dress room. When we were a goal down and desperate to get an equaliser, players' discipline were very important not to jeopardise the team's opportunity (we were always the come-back-king under Sir Alex and discipline played a major part of course).

LvG at the post match interview admitted that Di Maria knew it was a carded offence and theres no excuse. My question to you is why defend the indefensible. LvG has a lot to do if he wants to be a successful manager at United.

Fellaini 4.8 while Herrera has 5.5 on the match ratings?
Well Herrera was only part of the first half and our good play went to shit when he came off. Also Fellaini didn't have a good game at all, he had 8 fouls, which is ridiculous, and only won 38% of his aerial duels apparently. Again, coming up against fecking coquelin most of the time, that's pitiful.

What a load of nonsense. I could name 10 examples of ill discipline like that under Ferguson.

I've said that (taking the red card) elsewhere. So we pretty much agree

Well I am saying the same to you! So, over 2 decades, you could come up with 10 examples? Very good. That's my point. Besides, under Fergie, we had dire situations from time to time but eventually we won and in the grand scheme of things, we came out the champions most of the time despite the lack of discipline. Any ill discipline were just red herring, and at times turned to our favour. Fans aren't unhappy when there's result. LvG I believe might have a lot to learn to be honest. And so might you.

Now, stop defending the manager. He needs to do something to turn things round an to keep morale in the dressing room, otherwise we would be in the awful ordeal when we were out of Europe AGAIN, god forbid

By the way, has anyone noticed that it was the "genius" Jones who called for the ball to go back in the first place...?

Herrera was anonymous and Fellaini had a decent game, regardless of whether his fouling annoyed you or not.

Herrera was ok at best I agree, but him coming off coincided with us losing any threat going forward that we had, and he did play a good part in the goal with the pass out to Valencia. Fellaini on the other hand ruined a lot of things and didn't do much with the hoofs other then commit fouls. Hes capable of much more then what he did against arsenal IMO, as is Herrera but Herrera got a better score because him and Shaw coming off were the only differences between the teams in the two halves, but the play was miles apart.
