Two keepers on the bench is weird.

Glad to see Antony start but Casemiro must have had a really easy summer if he's still not ready to play.
It’s quite common for a lot of teams now. Especially now that you are allowed a lot more subs on the bench.

Completely bizarre not unleashing Casemiro in this sort of game. What is EtH’s thought process here?

Casemiro is still adapting to the league and his team. ETH does not want to rush him till he has properly adjusted. Besides, McTominay is playing quite well so it makes no sense for a manager to take out a player who is performing well.

Its the proper way of managing.

Maybe ETH sees it as the DM being so important as needing more time to bed in to his system or simply he doesn’t want to mess with the cohesion in there the last few games, either way relax Cas will be in there soon no doubt. Antony instead of Elanga is a no brainer really and less risk if he’s not up to speed yet (and I’m sure a 70% up to speed Antony is better than Elanga anyway)

No donny or garnacho on the bench, but we have 2 goalkeepers there? I really do not understand the logic of that.
Yea Garnacho started for the youth team yesterday. Either of both keepers can do whatever Donny offers so there’s that covered.

Expected Casemiro to start but instead Antony gets the nod.

Because Antony knows the system better than any player on the pitch except Martinez.

Also McTominay has played well in centre mid and the manager doesn't want an unsettled back 6. Elanga has been much worse than McTominay and Casemiro coming on around 60 minutes to add extra defensive support when we are winning has been working so far.

Cas has been available for 2 games. He will be an undisputed starter within the next few weeks guaranteed. Elanga was always going to be dropped. Rashford is only playing because Martial is injured and Ronaldo wanted out all summer.

Think it has to do with the intensity of the premier league. Where a more attacking player can adapt quickly, its a whole other ball game for a midfielder. Think he would like to bed him in for an easier home game. Hopefully this period doesn't last long. It's the same reason why Malacia was benched initially imo

Don't mind McTominay playing, he's done well in the last couple of matches. But Rashford getting another start is frustrating.

Also, I'll never understand 2 GK's back on the bench again, I know the 21's had a match yesterday but they could easily pull double duty for a 10-15 minute cameo if needed.

People loosing their mind about Casemiro. He wasn’t really good when he came on last time and Ten Hag is rewarding players who performed for him. I get that. Casemiro will come good and be a starter very soon, but it’s a bad idea to play players just because of their reputation.
Ten Hag is right. A place in the starting 11 should be win, that’s the good mentality.

    Come on United !!!

I think it is a poor decision to make so few changes considering we only played 65 hours ago.

He is building the team's match fitness and capability to play as many games as possible. He will make changes for the Carabao cup and Europa league which will give the first team a breather.

You don’t drop anyone from that side.
You absolutely do. In last two games we have lost control of the games for extended duration. We have won but there is so much room for improvement in terms of the performance, in terms of looking comfortable on the ball. Eventually we will come across a side that possess enough quality to score a goal and then we will end up dropping some very precious points.

People wanting Ronaldo to start. Is it just because they don't want Rashford up front or what?

Ronaldo came on last few games and was gassed after a few sprints. How would he fare out for 60 or 70 mins

And Garnacho not even on bench now.

Dunno what he's done to EtH. Screwed up during the friendlies by coming late to team meetings etc and didn't get his chances.

Really hope he puts in 100% in training.

Looks like ETH is no fan of the Cass. Not sure why you need two goal keepers on the bench. That’s mad.

I’m happy we are easing Casemiro in but even a 50% Casemiro is better the McT surely?
ETH alluded to fitness and understanding the team’s style of play. Casemiro probably doesn’t check both boxes.

Antony checks the latter and is also a huge, huge upgrade over Championship Elanga.

Completely bizarre not unleashing Casemiro in this sort of game. What is EtH’s thought process here?
Perhaps fitness, perhaps not messing yet with a working system, maybe not giving him his first start right in the heart of midfield in a new league in a game of this magnitude, could be a whole number of reasons. Pretty sure in time he'll be starting.

Huh? Other than a couple stray passes he was excellent when he came on vs Leicester
