I do find Casemiro not starting really odd. Literally was MOTM in the Super Cup. How is he not fit but Antony is?

Casemiro is still adapting to the league and his team. ETH does not want to rush him till he has properly adjusted. Besides, McTominay is playing quite well so it makes no sense for a manager to take out a player who is performing well.

Its the proper way of managing.
Keeping senior serial winners on the bench isn't exactly great man management either. I hope this isn't being done by ETH solely to prove he's the boss. And I rate McT by the way, so not a slight on him.

McT's been playing well this season. I was expecting Casemiro to start instead of Eriksen given the inevitable midfield battle.
Eriksen though has been key in helping that midfield retain possession. It's hard to leave any of the midfield 3 out just now

Casemiro obviously not 100% fit. He will come on in the second half , no panic

We'll see him at some point in the game for sure.

ETH deserves credit for rewarding Mctominay's consistent performances with an extended run in the team. It would have been quite tempting to throw Casemiro into the starting lineup the moment he arrived, 100% fit or otherwise.

Because like it or not, Ronaldo is shit now, especially for a pressing team that needs energy and pressing from every player.
It's not Ronaldo not starting as much as it is Rashford starting yet again. He's even more dreadful.

Antony straight in. Exciting stuff, going to be big pressure on him to deliver, hopefully he can rise to the occasion.

Still no Casemiro is a surprise, I thought this would be the game for sure. Still McTominay has played well in the last games but I am surprised there's not a few more changes considering how many games we've had.

I’m surprised by ten Hag here. Hope it doesn’t backfire because he’ll have a lot to answer, this game is very very important.

Because Antony knows the system better than any player on the pitch except Martinez.

Also McTominay has played well in centre mid and the manager doesn't want an unsettled back 6. Elanga has been much worse than McTominay and Casemiro coming on around 60 minutes to add extra defensive support when we are winning has been working so far.
Imagine if Mctominay keep playing "well", he could have displace Casemiro from getting into our starting 11.

Rashford, McTominay and Eriksen are the weak points in this lineup.

I know I was just kidding. McT deserves the start. Casemiro will have to play his way into this team while it's winning.

EtH must have seen something (or not) in training regarding Casemiro. Obviously doesn’t think he’s match-fit.

Or …. He thinks McTominay is unstoppable

Basically, McTominay as long as he puts in flawless performances will keep his spot but once he drops to his normal level Casemiro will be in. Fair enough.

Not at all. Weird take. As if he's angry about getting Casemiro is a bonkers idea.

Hardly, the only signings that have started so far are the ones ETH has worked with in the past/know his style/system.

Not saying he's angry at getting Casemiro, but lets not pretend he was a signing we'd had a long term plan for. He was a panic buy to stop take-over bid talks/fan unrest. Hope he works out, but he wasn't a planned move.

Think it has to do with the intensity of the premier league. Where a more attacking player can adapt quickly, its a whole other ball game for a midfielder. Think he would like to bed him in for an easier home game. Hopefully this period doesn't last long. It's the same reason why Malacia was benched initially imo
It is very weird to see anyone but his biggest fans annoyed Ronaldo isn't starting.
People loosing their mind about Casemiro. He wasn’t really good when he came on last time and Ten Hag is rewarding players who performed for him. I get that. Casemiro will come good and be a starter very soon, but it’s a bad idea to play players just because of their reputation.
Ten Hag is right. A place in the starting 11 should be win, that’s the good mentality.

    Come on United !!!
    Voices of reason.

It's not Ronaldo not starting as much as it is Rashford starting yet again. He's even more dreadful.

True but he has energy to press from the front and ETH is obviously choosing the one with more energy from the start of the match and the one who can offer more in a lesser period of a match to bring on for the last 30.

So Casemiro is not fit despite training regularly with Real before moving to United, and Antony has been on a strike and now plays? That's bizarre.
I know I’d rather believe the man than labelling this a Van De Beek situation two games in.

It’s about being familiar the style of play. I’m assuming Antony playing with Ten Hag last season’s the main reason he’s able to slot straight in. Somehow doubt he was slouched on his sofa the entire time he was on strike too..

Wanting to start really strong and get the lead and then bring on a great DM in the second half where out fitness falls off a cliff makes perfect sense right now. Bringing on McT or Fred to defend a lead…not so much!
