Heading to OT... on the bus from 4.45am Belfast then Dub-Liverpool ferry no one here is getting too excited about tonight. Might be the fact we got feck all sleep or might be the forward options we've got going on.

Switching on the optimism button 3-2-1 go...

My money's on Greenwood scoring a worldy any foot will do

    Cmon ye MoFos

    Glory Glory

Many wise words from @sglowrider in this thread. To return to the topic of the thread I hope we win tonight, it would be a great achievement considering what players we have available.

We need to chop them at their ankles a few times, early in the match and they will fold.

One thing I don't get btw is why is this on Monday night? One premier league game today and nothing in the 2pm slot. You've also both got europa on Thursday so seems bizarre to me.
The Premier League's scheduling has been completely absurd for a while now. European competitions are barely taken into account when arranging fixtures, unlike on the continent. The TV companies rule everything.

We won’t be a fecking football club for much longer if our accounts are not healthy. That’s a ridiculous attack, we are famously generous with wages, this is just ranting.
Excessively so, even. Hence our troubles with shifting mediocre players bloating the squad. Or why we literally have to pay Inter for the honour of them taking Sanchez off our hands.

I think we are in for a hiding.

Hopefully Arsenal are Arsenal though - we'll have a chance then.

We'll be extremely mediocre but we'll dig in.

Arsenal with much more quality will be erratic and tactically naive.

I think it'll end 1-1. Maybe with them scoring first but then being daft enough to gift us something, or they still throw too many men forward and we get them on the counter.

There is plenty of blame to go around. Why ship Smalling to Roma? Why get rid of Lukaku thinking (hoping) Martial, Rashy & Greenwood would do? Why pay £80m for Maguire when it was obvios we had a hole the size of Australia in our midfield? The whole Brexit philosophy for our players - that’s not coming from Woodward. Ole will take the blame. But there have been other ex-players that have also pushed for the type of transfer window we just saw.

Not just that but getting rid of fellaini as well, it's not like we play good progressive football under Solskjear and never will, also pushing lukaku to the side in favour of rashford as the striker is what first created the mess of lukaku wanting to leave and it wasnt just Maguire that we spent too much of our transfer money on but the limited Bissaka when trippier was going for half the amount.

I cannot express enough how much I'm not looking forward to this game, the prospect of this game is actually worse than were we playing Liverpool for example simply because were we playing Liverpool at least you know they're better than us even if we were at full strength.

The idea of losing to this Arsenal side and it be because of injuries just fecking sucks because I have no doubt a full strength United side beats this Arsenal one even if we're not great ourselves

It’s a fascinating game. Defensively we’re much better than Arsenal, but offensively they look to have more goals in them than us. Draw maybe, but hoping we can find a way to get a big confidence boosting win.

Would be a good boost mentally if we can beat Arsenal and get 3 points to stay in touch with the top half.

If it's not happening up front then I hope Ole is not shy in getting Greenwood on.

Assuming so after the video he posted of him dancing around on his "hurt" ankle, if he is out tonight after posting that he needs shooting.

I think the video you're referring to is an old one, where he had the same haircut.

Not to sure mate just seen it on Saturday I think was being shared so assumed it was recent

Yeah I know which video you're referring to, there was a lot of confusion around it but I think it was genuinely when he had the same haircut last year or something. I could be mistaken though.

Any news on Pogba? Thinking his ability to start a quick counter could be crucial for us in this one. Balls over the top to our fast bois are gonna make Luiz shit himself.

A club like Manchester United should not have to keep using injuries as a bad excuse.
All clubs get injuries; that is what the squad system is for.
If Jose was in charge it would be all his fault.
With Ole in charge, it is all Woodwards fault.
Players get injured. That is the time for the manager to find solutions.

Looked at thw table for the first time in ages. Looking pretty grim.

We have quite a few dodgy fixtures coming. With our current form & injury crisis every fixture is going to be difficult though. I'm amazed at the optimism of some that we are still going for 4th. We could easily find ourselves in the relegation zone at some point in the season if we don't see drastic improvement.

Think we'll go with something like this:

    DDG

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Young

    Matic Mctom

    Lingard Mata James

    Greenwood

Given our three best attacking options are unavailable (Pogba, Martial and Rashford) I think we'll struggle to find the net tonight.

Only 3-0 then, courtesy of a James hattrick.

Watford went head to head with Arsenal a couple of weeks ago with the team below:

    Foster
    Feminia Dawson Kabasele Holebas
    Capoue Doucoure
    Hughes Cleverley Deulofeu
    Gray

Regardless of the players we have out, if we have some belief, we can cause this Arsenal team problems. Lets attack them and make things happen.

About 4 of them would get into our first team

Oh come on, any club who has their three best attacking players out injured is going to struggle.

You are deluding yourself if you think it is injuries that are responsible for our problems

Oh come on, any club who has their three best attacking players out injured is going to struggle.

When did I say that they should not struggle.
What I said was that random injuries should not be used as an excuse at the top level of football.
Manchester City have defensive injuries. I don’t remember Pep using it as an excuse.
Just get on with trying to win football matches.

Martial and Rashford would be squad players at best in any top team. We were struggling when they were all fit.

We didn't struggle against Chelsea seeing as we battered them 4-0. A combination of missed chances and penalties cost us 5 points against Wolves and Palace - we did more than enough to win both of those games comfortably. We were top of the xG table after those three games too.

Then injuries began to pile up and performances inevitably deteriorated.

City have one of the biggest and best squads in the world. Pep has no excuses.

United were light on quality and quantity in the midfield/attacking areas before the season even began. Throw in an injury crisis that sidelined three of your best attacking players and you're undoubtedly going to struggle.
