We need to rebuild with the right manager. Ole is out of his depth in terms of coaching and tactics at this level - the next few weeks will confirm this again against the big teams.
So hilariously trueClash of the Clowns. If either team loses this match they should be ashamed.
Any manager would be facing the same crap that Ole is facing right now. I bet even Pep would struggle.
Whether he is qualified or not, he deserves respect at least and not silly calling to be sacked within 1 transfer window.
He chopped six his first season and another six the following season.
Bottomline is that people seem to have lost all perspective and patience. We are channelling the collective anger and frustrations of the past 6-7 yrs into Ole.
We need to build again but root & branch.
Whether Ole will eventually be successful, remains to be seen but what he is doing is logical and deserves to be given time.
I am in Jakarta at the moment and this match is being advertised as the “Clash of Struggler”
Fair?
Looked at thw table for the first time in ages. Looking pretty grim.

Any protests expected at the ground?
Its like change management or even having to rebuild organisations. You have to strip off the fats and then fix what you perceive to be your highest priorities given the limitations --- by limitations I am referring to financials.
We have had bad buys/assets, poor performance and yet Woodward has obligations to the owners/shareholders. He has to manage their financial expectations year on year.
That is sacrosanct as far as he is concerned. Therefore, he has to limit spendings and management of cashflows in order to manage the market's financial expectations of United. We will not have CL money this coming financial year, losing value on the assets, runaway wage bill and I am sure they have long terms plans on other spendings besides on transfer of players.
For Ole, Rome cannot be built in seven days because of the fiduciary obligations Woodward has to his bosses. He has to work within a budget.
So based on that basic premise, whats Ole to do? Chop the fat off first (Whether useless players or wage obligations) and fix your most outstanding operational needs. In Ole's view, its the defence -- despite spending and the purchases made by the previous managers. (I dont particularly agree with him but I am a fan so i dont see whats going on at the training field.)
Beyond that there isnt much left to spend on -- so Ole has to gamble. Gamble on kids who are practically free.
Thats the decision made in August.
As to why we have performed badly? He is trying to instil a philosophy. Well as they say, its takes many more times more energy/effort to teach an older player than a young kid something new.
I am sure players like Matic or even Pogba -- never mind the likes of Sanchez etc arent following Ole's vision and instructions.
Even the younger players are struggling but theoretically its easier. So what do you do, you keep practising it on the field till you get the basics right first.
With our limited squad and abilities, I can see us only being a counter-attacking team.
Then if the kids or the rest of the teams improves and we can buy more players next transfer window, that will widen our different styles of play then we do so. But we are back to basic at the moment. Add layers later.
You need to take your United tinted glasses off and look at United like some dysfunctional organisation that has undergone the various changes in approaches that we have had in the past six years and you can see the logical but handcuffed approach that Ole has under-taken.
Forget about comparing it with the teams of 94, 98 or 2006.
Ole has a more difficult take that Fergie when he first joined United. The expectations and the patience afforded to managers there wasnt in as short supply as it is now. Most managers are expected to have 3 transfer windows -- Ole only has had ONE and people are calling for his sacking. And a former player/legend at that. Disgraceful.
FYI. Fergie had to chop off a lot of deadwood as his first point of action too.

Pretty sure I've heard that argument before from a United manager, a more qualified manager at that as well.....

Yes Ole has had one window. I do not blame him for the last three bad windows as that is on Woodward, and why extend Jose and then NOT back him in last summer's transfer window... I will never know the logic there.
Big issue you leave out here though. If we do not qualify for Champs League this year, not only do we lose Champs League money, our contract with Adidas will be cut by 30%.

So I agree, Ole does not deserve all the blame, but no matter how you slice it we look idiots cutting so many big names from last year's squad, with so little reinforcements, and so much at stake.
Can anyone explain why the feck we're not playing today? There's no PL lunch time game, yet both us and Arsenal have Europa League games and are still playing on Monday? Makes zero sense
Clearly a high priority for Ole has been to reduce the wage bill. With an anticipated reduction in revenues, Woodward needs to reduce cost too to meet his financial objectives.
This way the financial numbers at least look good or mitigated when Woodward does his quarterly announcement with Wall Street folks. This is how United always looks good with investors. Fiscally well managed.

One thing I don't get btw is why is this on Monday night? One premier league game today and nothing in the 2pm slot. You've also both got europa on Thursday so seems bizarre to me.

Good, let’s get with the programme and think of the profit- who gives two fecks about football-soccer anyway?Clearly a high priority for Ole has been to reduce the wage bill. With an anticipated reduction in revenues, Woodward needs to reduce cost too to meet his financial objectives.

Greenwood might not be the answer for the whole game though. He is 17... he will need to develop, it would be a big gamble to put him alone and play him a full game against Arsenal, despite Arsenal being a bit shitty.Ole will find a way not to start Greenwood. Either Lingard false 9 or a patched up Rashy making a miraculous recovery.

You do get some odds stuff.
Like Arsenal played last sunday, but still for some reason played their league cup game on the Tue!

Judging by his presser, I think Ole will go with the following:
De Gea
Wan-Bissaka
Lindelof
Maguire
Young
McTominay
Matic
A.Pereira
Lingard
James
Greenwood
subs:
Romero
Tuanzebe
Rojo
Fred
Mata
Gomes
Chong
Score Prediction:
Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal
(Heart over head)

Trouble is, we’re a football club, not a fecking bank. The football club is being eroded year by year. Nothing Ole or a DOF can do when they are told the wage bill has to be cut to meet financial targets, regardless of its effect on the team/squad. Think of the dividends. Doesn’t matter whether ole, a DOF, Pep, Jose or Joey fecking Barton is in charge, they are not in charge but merely there to cop the flak whilst the Glazers cream the profits.
