We’ve looked ok for the most part but this is the worst City have looked in years and if we can find some composure in the final third then this games there for the taking. Not much there in terms of attacking changes on the bench with Rashford and Garnacho not being in the squad. Need to step it up a gear in the second half and please stop conceding from fecking set pieces!!

Keeping and moving the ball better than we did under ETH, which is a positive, but we offer so little threat up front. Rarely do we get shots away, let alone work the keeper.

Bruno has to be removed from set pieces - they’re atrocious.

I think I heard the commentator say that 44% of our goals conceded are from set pieces. That must be rectified.

The two yellows for Hojlund and Walker annoys me.

Walker has a bad foul on Hojlund, squares up to Hojlund and dives on the ground to try get Hojlund sent off. Yellow.

Hojlund is fouled, squares up to Walker. Yellow.

This is why we need more attack from the WBs in this formation. Our attack relies on more quality from those positions. Hojlund not seeing any of the ball at the moment, and Amad needs to learn to stay onside.

The general play at least has looked a bit more controlling though which is good.

Does anyone else think Onana could have saved the header that led to the goal? He didn’t dive for it and it’s not the first time he was found on his heels. I kept thinking that De Gea would have at least dived to try to save it.
This always happens and we take it for granted. Elite keepers would have saved some of these corners we've conceded. His reflexes just seem so slow

Walker, though, what a little bitch

Like how we have kept hold of possession and presses Citys midfield, it helps when either Garancho or Rashford is in the team IMO.

The lack of quality in attack will hopefully be fixed by bringing in the correct personnel over the next two windows.

    Some thoughts :-

    Defensive Structure
Very good this half. We've restricted them to very few genuine chances, we've closed down spaces well near the box; we've pressed decently in the final third. They're far too good as playing through possession for us to have any real success with the press though. Even when it looks like everyone everyone has executed their pressing trigger correctly, they've always still got one pass to give them an out.

    Offensive Transitions and Final Third
We've been pretty decent transitioning out from our defensive third. Their press hasn't caught us many times; only a few silly mistakes by us on the ball in this regard. We can get the ball out to Dalot or Amad fairly easily, however, the final third is where it all goes to crap. We don't even look close to fashioning a chance. This is where the lack of training ground time has been a factor. The players just don't have enough drills in them to understand what is expected of them in this system, and it shows. It's easy to see why Hojlund cuts a frustrated figure. He does the target man stuff well and makes some good runs, but the supporting runs don't exist to draw defenders away, and so Hojlund never has any space to operate in.

We're going to need a 2nd half Amorim special ala Sporting vs. City. Hopefully that adjustment comes

If we're still 1-0 by 60 minutes I think it should be Amad or Maguire; drop Mazraoui into RCB, Amad into RWB and then have Zirkzee operate behind Hojlund. If we're going to struggle in the 2nd half to get the ball from them, then I'd feel better knowing we've got two target men to help others transition higher, especially since Bruno, Dalot, Mainoo aren't exactly rapid.

Three centre backs and we are conceding from corners for fun. We've still got a mistake from Onana to deal with yet.

Kyle Walker really is a low level human being.

Not really a bad half, what is clear is that they are there for the taking.

They'd have harried and tarried, before missing whatever chances they were fed and losing possession endlessly.
They wouldn't even have harried and tarried. He is talking like Rashford and Garnacho have not been core parts of this shower of shite for the last 3 years. If both were on the field, we might have been in an even worse position.

They both have very good records against City teams better than these tbh mate.

Think we will fold now. Best we can hope for is a draw.

Not a bad first half apart from their goal.

The people in charge of our squad-building over the last 10 years have got a lot to answer for. We should be ripping these City wankers apart. We should be looking to punish them and really make a statement.

This entire squad need a long look in the mirror, a proper dressing down, and a harsh reality check. Starting with Garnacho and Rashford. Glad both have been dropped. Time we raised the standards and expectations at this club.

The system is working as intended. You can see that we are creating space out wide for the WB's to attack. However Dalot is not good enough going forward, and Mazraoui is more suited to the RCB role.

Without that wide threat going forward, Bruno and Amad are not having any effect in those inside channels. It's clear to see the breakdown. But on the flip side, it should be clear to see the fix. We need genuine WB's for 343 to work.

We look like we're concentrating so hard on the structure that we've forgotten how to attack and create chances.
We could never create chances. All we could do is hit teams on the counter...which have a fancy new word "transitions" to make them sound cooler now.

Dalot was good last season because his focus was more on build up and the middle third. He’s always been horrible in the final third

Maybe he should not have stayed on the line. But I think that the goal is Amad`s fault. He did not give 100% in the tackle on Bryne.

We were braver on the counter attacks under Ole vs a far better City team. Hopefully Amorim tells them to play with more urgency in the second half.
We also had a team built to counter attack. The only real pace we have in the squad now is garnacho and rashford but unfortuately they have been terrible. Bruno aside we don't even have players to pick out runners

We need to look at what Sporting did against them in the second half a month ago. You’ve got to be more aggressive and this City team will fold. Work hard to close them down (Mainoo letting us down here), quick and incisive passing when we win the ball, and committed runners to support Hojlund. It needs confidence to okay this way, and unfortunately that’s something we lack. We need to be braver in possession, braver in making runs to stretch them and trust your teammates that they won’t lose the ball.

Hopefully Ruben has them fired up for the second half. I feel like there’s still something there for us here, but we need to find that urgency, fight and confidence that we want to go out there and roll these feckers over.

Totally agree with dropping Rashford and Garnaucho however when you put all your chips on Mason Mount, your playing the very definition of Russian Roulette, I said it and I meant it if Ruben has 7 or 8 points from the first 8 or 9 Premier League games, just watch the shameless fans start to call for Ruben’s head as well?

Guess we were decent until the goal. Not that we created anything with it but had possession. City haven't looked great but seems like we don't create much to hurt teams.

    Walker's diving was really annoying.

Have no idea what to expect in 2nd half. We may try to be more dangerous in front of the goal but will it result into something? Maybe Eriksen could come on at some point and try create something, wouldn't expect much from Antony and Zirkzee. Would actually expect more from Casemiro with his ability to create a good chance or score from set pieces. Of course he could also give the ball to City players attempting some of those passes as well.
