Who cares!For the first time in a long time Im really sorry I wasnt there to see the match live; so many times in the last 8/9 years when Ive gone Ive ended up wanting to be anywhere else!
Ive often criticized our players for not showing enough passion, spirit and fight, for sleepwalking through matches and not caring and so often surrendering. But not this match where they all chased, harried and fought for 90 minutes plus, and instead of the all to regular habit of handing the opposition weak, late goals, they turned that particular table on neighbours City who, by the end, were far from "noisy!"
Yes there is still plenty of room for improvement and Ruben Amorim still has a lot to do to turn us into a consistently good team, but maybe, perhaps, at last the basic building blocks are in place!
Maguire has suffered more than his share of horrors the last few years but today he was, once again, awesome and handled the much lauded Haaland with great skill and fortitude. In Amad we have a new diamond in the making, one who, hopefully, will steer clear of the path chosen by Rashford and others once heralded as Uniteds future. Ive always liked Martinez, Dalot is making himself indispensible, though he still has a few things to iron out in his game. Bruno basically picks himself and is a better player and captain than, for some reason, many on here warrant him. Kobbie is still very young and is only going to get even better. But more than anything this was a team performance and every player deserves praise!- Status
