Best we can do against City. I wouldn't be starting Rashford personally, but I can also see the thinking. If he does win, he will point to injuries even more this season and may even have a point.

When you look at his big game record I'm not sure how you can say this... Drop him any other game but against teams like this he has to play.

Fully expected 4 midfielders. It's worked best for us against City in past. Surprised Cas ain't there. Not even being on the bench prob means he's either injured or there was a big falling out. Time for the real Marcus Rashford to stand up. Come on Utd!

Would've started Amad to try to keep some possession, but guess the idea is to try, try & try more to keep it as defensive as possible then hit them with pace with the over the top pass.

I think, by the time Amad & Hojlund come on, the game will be done.

strange reactions here. Im a nobody fan and all but predicted this line up post coventry. Its so obvious we need an extra body in middle v city and with 2 wide forwards you go with pace of garnacho and rashford. Id like to see hojlund too, but obviously its a gamble to expect him to suddenly excel in a wider role. The only real call here was amad or rashford. Obviously amad deserves on form, but its hardly an inexplicable line up. Its almost exactly what most people expected

First 10 mins will be telling. We will know what state of mind our players are at. The pressure is all on City to deliver. They have looked less dominate than last year. Feel it is a 50/50. Come on Utd!

Cup tie and we go in without a centre forward. some explain to me how rashford deserves to start over Hojilund. Where's the pace up front we keep hearing about except for Garno

Kambwala apparently replaced Cas on the bench due to a late injury. That sounds to me like Cas refused to be on the bench when he was told but might be wrong

Alright, lads. Bet's on. Who is getting injured first? Martinez or Varane?

Look at his goal scoring record in big games, even counting this season and you'll see why.

I’m listening. How many games has Rashford turned in a massive performance this season? Last season, quite a few. This season? None, maybe one.

or 10 seconds if it's like last year

That's why I get the thinking, but he's hardly played and not played well at all this season - also Amad has done well. Hopefully the news that Erik is gone and the missing out on England squad will light a fire under him for today's game.

Confusing post. First of all Rashy isn't replacing Hojlund. And secondly Rashford is faster than Garnacho.

McT and Bruno were changing on that position during last few games.
Nevertheless, i hoped that ETH learned by now that McT is useless against City.
I guess trying not to lose it in the first 15... two holding midfielders. McT deserves to start more than Rashford does

Rashfords pace in behind will be crucial given how we have set up the team, and there’s also the glimmer of hope that he will be very determined to impress after losing out on the England squad.

Not that we’ll stand much of a chance, fully expect City to score early and completely dominate us, match over within 30 mins. Weather is nice, so might as well fire up the grill early

ETH now saying "we have to be front foot"... well that's not going to happen

I disagree with the people saying people are moaning for the sake of moaning in regards to Casemiro.

I've probably been Casemiro's biggest critic. I didn't think he was good last year. However, in his last game against Brighton, I thought he was brilliant. The best game I've seen him play for us. That, coupled with our other midfield options playing poorly that game, boosted him in the pecking order for me.

At least we have some good options off the bench today.

If we keep it tight we got a chance. 2 in front of our defence can work. Our ball out especially forward needs to be successful too. If we can then them into the space with rashford we got a chance

How lucky is Rashford to be starting ahead of two in-form players. Incredible really. Hope he does the bare minimum without the negative body language.

Casemiro not even on the bench. Cannot wait to see the back of this fraud.

And Rashford starting after being so shit. I hope we sack this guy 1 second after FT.

Huh? Casemiro has been on the beach for the past month and Rashford will be starting all the time under the next manager too.

Rashford definitely doesn't deserve to be in the lineup but it was obviously what ETH would do so not surprised.

But he does have a good record in big games so if he is in id probably have took Garnacho out as he isn't in great form right now.
