The team is dire. Can't believe people still kid themselves about it being plenty good enough.
As someone else said, they have KDB out, they bring in BSilva. We have Pogba out, we bring in Fellaini (he'll probably play alright but still, feck me).
If we keep it super tight and City don't get going we might be ok. But it's shit going into games like this and there's no excuse 3 seasons deep.3 Dm's. Jesus christ. Sitting back against these is a bad idea, they have too many lock pickers, best way is to go at them like second half last season or like Liverpool do.Exactly the reason why Jose is not suited to the United manager, how can we allow a thing like this to happen in the derby? Scared of City? Feck!!!Herrera, Matic and Fellaini will all be cancelled out when pressed. Our attackers will spend the first half chasing hoofs. Subs to save the game hopefully

you have to deny them the space - how open were we vrs Bournemouth for example? we need to be disciplined and our front 3 will need to run hard and play smartBeat City away 2-3 after almost going down give goals in the first half last season... Need someone from midfield to also bring the ball forward though. Also Lingard's not really that fast, not from the wing. Through the middle his quick little bursts would be fine, but as it is I don't see anyone in that team who will actually progress the ball through the midfield to lead the counters and give the ball to Martial or Rashford in those advanced positions. Needed Fred in for that. I love Herrera, but he's a defensive mid or a defensive box to box. He can't lead the ball out from midfield. Neither can Matic, and neither can Fellaini. Pogba and Fred can, Pereira can pass it progressively, and Lingard can if he plays in midfield. None of those are the case though.

City to race ahead in the first half and that'll be that.Crazy after 3 years and all that money spent, we're going into a derby away to City with most of the same side from the Van Gaal period.Not confident of a win today, best I think we can hope for is a draw.Not exactly a side to inspire confidence. Everything depends on whether that front three can work the counter attack well, because that midfield three will not stand up well to relentless passing and moving by City for 90 mins. Probably why he’s picked Lingard, to carry the ball from defence.
Leave him up the pitch to get a head start on counter attacks like France did Mbappe. We have 3 DMs to cover Walker
Mata is slow. The plan is clearly to sit back & hit them on the break with pace. Also expect to see long balls to Fellaini with Rashford & Martial looking to latch onto flick ons.
Pogba and Sanchez are both injured.Personally I’d have gone for Fred instead of Fellaini. With the midfield three we now have only Herrera can cover ground. Worried we will be over run in midfield so having Fred and Herrera in there would have made more sense IMO.
Rashford has a decent record against City so I can sort of understand his inclusion. Likewise Lingard as we will need his pace for the counter and any sort of potential press.- Status
