Pep hasn't really rested any players over the season so I can't see him doing that in a game that could see him really stick it to Jose. Especially after the Old Trafford incident where Jose stormed into their dressing room.

They're going to use this game to give themselves a lift. Going into the Liverpool game next week after wrapping up the title against your biggest rivals will be the best chance they have at turning that tie around.

I keep telling everyone that suggests we should attack that they shouldn't bother.
Meanwhile, I'm upset at the thought that we're going to go there to defend our box.
I think I'm just trying to cope with the inevitable disappointment.
We'll probably end up just defending our box  but there's always the small possibility Mourinho pulls a surprise so I'll hang on to that hope for now.

If we want to press them, Lukaku and Martial can't play. Lingard, Sanchez and Rashford are the pressers in the attack.

However, I think we will not try to press them, rather we will play the same line up as the home leg and hope to nick a goal.

Next week, you mean 3 days after, they play them Tuesday. that would be stupid and childish from him, you may be right as we saw before (wednesday included) how stubborn and stupid he can be.

but it wouldn't make sense as there's a chance that he doesn't win against us even with his full team and in addition to that he wouldn't have rested his player. and if they don't qualify in this case, he would come under fire for his choices as he wouldn't have put his players in the best of positions.

If we beat City, and Liverpool put them out of the Champions League... even City's incredible season will seem like an anticlimax. Their season will be tainted.

No matter how much possession they had, it took two defensive mistakes from Lukaku (his only two of the season if I remember right) to gift them the win at Old Trafford, and even then, Lukaku could still have grabbed a draw if his shot hadn't hit their keeper full in the face. It's almost fun seeing that there isn't a single pundit giving us a chance of a draw either....

Forget the right, most of our plays to through the right anyway.
Give Rashford a free roll and use him as a false 9 / right winger. Let him make runs in behind and use him to just drive City’s defenders crazy.

Sanchez/Ander/Lukaku/Rashford will run their lungs out so pressing is an option. All while playing relatively defensive.
Could also put Lingard instead of Herrera/Rashford for the extra pressing.

Jose gets stick for being petulant but Pep is as petty and childish as they come. Him and Jose are more alike that they both care to admit.

He'll play his strongest team in both games, go hell for leather and then complain when they go out to Liverpool that City don't have a Messi and therefore couldn't turn the fixture around.

I'm sure they'll be happy upon reflection at the end of the season but it would be nice to ruin things slightly. Winning also stops them from winning the league next weekend, we'd have to lose and them win for it to happen.

He should play the kids. The tiny hope of the CL (and minuscule increase in chance by eating everyone) offsets delaying the league by a week.

Plus if they pull off an upset it would validate the whole acedemy project.

If they play full team and lose both matches, it’s only bad news.

I think this game suits Mourinho's approach. At the beginning of the season, it was very much United v City for the title. Now it is City who are clearly the better team.

A similar thing happened last season where United and City were being built up, then later on in the season City were clearly the better team.

Do you think it's possible to reschedule this game?
I am playing pool in the afternoon tomorrow :(

I have the same bar Lingard for Rashford.

    Predicting a 2-0 United win. F-k it.

Guardiola: "Raiola offered me Mkhitaryan and Pogba two months ago. Exactly, two months ago he asked me if his players wanted to play for me and for Manchester City." #MCFC #MUFC

Zlatan is still an option in the lineup prediction.
I almost put him as a sub :p

    I'd line up as:

    Alexis -------- Lukaku
    ---------Pogba--------
    ---Matic----McTominay
    --------Back 5---------

Lukaku and Sanchez move out to the wide areas where City will be pushing their fullbacks forward, Pogba in a free role, but dropping deeper when we are out of possession

Pogba has been crap in these big games, so hopefully Pep has done us a favor if he was going to play.

Don't care how we play as long as they don't win the title this weekend.

I'd be shocked if the likes of Silva, De Bruyne, Sane, Fernandinho, Walker and Otamendi started. That tips the balance towards us.

I agree that we can't sit back. For once let's try and go for it.

They will rest players, but they will still have a strong 11, and we will still sit back. 0-0 is the most likely result, if we were to win, 1-2. But I can't see Jose playing for a win, he'll think 'we could lose 2 pts and then second becomes dodgier'. And in this instance, unlike some games, I wouldn't exactly blame him.

Why would that be surprising? They have an opportunity to win the league against their rivals tomorrow, they’re obviously gonna go out to shaft us. Think it’s just wishful thinking from you mate ;)

Put it like this. If the situations were reversed, I would be livid if Jose put the starters out. feck it, call up the U23 guys. Progression in the CL > Bragging rights.

Plus Guardiola already called this fixture a non-issue before the first leg. With a need to have a fresh team start against Liverpool on Tuesday, I would honestly be surprised if they started.

It wouldn’t be that surprising imo. They have decent strength in depth, I can easily see at least 2 of their main players starting. You’re right though, they should prioritise the CL, but I reckon if you ask City fans they’d also love to rub our faces in a PL win, again.

I will be shocked if City play anything other than a full strength team (subject to injuries ) they have the chance to win the PL at home against us , they will be going for it in a big way.

Was thinking they'd field a weakened lineup, but thinking about it further, I can't see it. If they were to lose it would completely deflate them and they'd stop believing their own hype. Vincent would probably stop talking about the quadruple altogether.

Agreed. I am sure they will play a full strength team. Will be a cracking game. Here's hoping our players are all up for it.

Sounds logical. But from the noises Guardiola is making, I expect them to play several "reserve" players: Danilo, Stones, Delph, Gundogan, Bernardo. Aguero could start if he is fit. He will make 4-5 changes from his line-up vs Liverpool.

The injury crisis at Liverpool gives them hopes for the second leg and they will rest some key players and will sub them in later on if things don't go well.

The feeling of Arsenal winning the league against us sucked. This would be 3.7 times worse.
Let's get out there and twat 'em. I'll be so pissed if they win it tomorrow. (In both senses of the word)
If the players don't realise the importance of this game and turn up with a IDGAF attitude, they can all do one.
