This isn't bragging this is reality. And if I can bet this amount, I'm prepared to lose it. I make this back easily. :)And yes its a win-win situation for me too as well. United lose and the odds on top 4 go up.

Did you put £10k on us winning the Stoke game?
I did advise you in that thread not to do it. I hope you heeded my advice and saved £10k.

Yes it's huge as always but it's hardly definitive.

    Anyone else get this vibe?

Mate, its a massive game. No doubt about it. Absolutely massive, for both teams/managers/players/fans.
If you win, you get joint 1st place.
If we win, we go 3 points from the top, which bring us back into contention for the title.

The BBC website has one of those "pick your best 11 from Liverpool and Utd players of the past"
No matter how I look at it I just cant seem to find any room for a liverpool player. The only one that is close for me would be Clemence over Schmeickel but even there I have to pick the Utd keeper.

Is this thinking with head or heart

I tried to look at it objectively but it's hard comparing players from different era's, I had 6 Liverpool and 5 United, I couldn't look past Hughes, Rush, Dalglish, Souness, Hansen and Barnes.
But could easily have chosen others.

    ------------Clemence------------
    Neal---Hansen---Ferdinand---Irwin
    -------Gerrard----Robson------
    Best--------Ronaldo-----------Barnes
    -------------Suarez---------

Impossible task - too many good players to choose from.

Is this thinking with head or heart
Well it could be thinking with my heart but I cant think of any Liverpool player that I would pick ahead of these. (I have added Phil Neal in)

    Shcmeichel
    Neal, Bruce, Ferdinand, Irwin
    Keane, Charlton, Robson
    Best, Cantona, Ronaldo

Im a huge fan of Dalgleish but have to go with Cantona ahead of him. I cant think of any Liverpool players I would pick ahead of Best and Ronaldo. Same deal in midfield, Gerard was a fantastic player but its a no brainer the 3 Utd players I have gone for there. Probably there is an argument to swap out Bruce or Ferdinand.

As someone else mentioned, an impossible task and in all fairness a Liverpool fans choice that might be more Liverpool biased would be a brilliant team.

This is one of those debates that will be raging long after the heat death so I'm not going to do specifics but it does seem odd that a club that historically is the 2nd best in domestic English football and the 4th most sucessful club Europe wide in European competition can't get 1 player in your mixed 11.

    But that's football..all about opinions.

He does have Phil Neal at RB.

I've never been more convinced that we're going to lose a game. The media, pundits and even some of our own players (see Mane's comments) are talking this up as if it's a foregone conclusion. Mourinho loves these scenario's where he gets to get the last laugh over so many people. I think it'll be 2-1 to United or maybe a score draw but we'll see.

    Prove me wrong Liverpool.

Oh absolutely. No argument. I am biased which is clouding my judgement.

The closer we get to the game, the more I want United to win.

This is the kind of match that we would mess up consistently over the last couple of seasons - i.e. we are nearly there, but just can't take advantage of the situation and close the gap. Under Fergie, these were the kind of games we managed to win. United always seemed to make it "hard for themselves" and then manage to win in the big moments.

    Come on United!
Actually we've had Liverpool's numbers at Anfield in the league.

We've beaten them 2 years running there in the league.

Yep...arnt we all. Part of the fun me thinks.

Funny isn't it how alike we are with subtle differences

Busby and Fergie. Fergie having a dynasty all of his own

We had 'the boot room..passing a philosophy about football through a number of internal managers

Both of which are unlikely to happen again

Your the first English club to lift big ears were as we made our Trophy room an on and off home for it for a while

You had 99 and Ole proving your the best team in the world

We had the insanity of 05 proving that football can be trueley insane

You didn't win the league for god knows how long and we've not won it for god knows how much longer (and yes still counting) yet despite that still boast 38 titles between us.

No to mention some horrendous chapters in our history.

Have a read of the Gary Neville comments today..it was posted on here before it's about it being far more complicated than hate and I couldn't agree more.

Dont get me wrong tomorrow night I'll me baying for blood 'metephoricaly' but when the dust settles I think it's our similaritys that piss us off..like Listening to your own voice on a tape.

    Just my thoughts.

One of the games I look forward to the most but hate it in the same time cause I'm so goddamn nervous.

We got the 3 points last season but DDG was the only one that deserved the win. We scored from our 1 shot on target and it was far from a good performance. If we play like that again we would be lucky to come out of it with anything.

I spent a really long time having to deal with Liverpool winning absolutely everything and even more of a piss off was for so long they were great to watch. I have tons of mates who are huge Liverpool fans and we just wind each other up. I remember how good Liverpool really were and for me the best way to win the title would be for us to win the title from Liverpool on the last day by 1 point.
I remember how it felt to be relegated and how it felt to be second fiddle for a long time. I hate losing to Liverpool but dont hate Liverpool. Thats probably treason to some on here. Over 45 years of watching this rivalry.

Are you playing the jinx game?

I'm new to the mains (well I'm in that bald way house after 4 likes) but over the years I've watched the mains and Klopper is normally spot on. I just think he's just having a bad case of PMT (pre match tension)
    Half time in Istanbul
Virtualy every game we play atOld Trafford
Away at the bridge until about 6 years ago
Any time we played arsenal up until about 3 years ago

He's been far more sure of loosing games than this

    :)

Ok so maybe I've been more sure of losing before, but not by much...:p

Just win. Losing this fixture is fecking horrible. That's why I can't understand some people stressing out over style of play. I couldn't care less. Just get three points, and then forget about it. This has been a scrappy game for as long as I can remember. The football is usually shit.

Did you put £10k on us winning the Stoke game?
I did advise you in that thread not to do it. I hope you heeded my advice and saved £10k.
Unfortunately no I lost :( but I did recoup 30% of my loss during the midweek WC qualifying matches, and had a potential £15k 12 game accumulator with United-Stoke draw in it, and I have already cleared 8 of them, with the other 4 requiring Liverpool to beat us, us to win/draw with Chelsea, Real Madrid to clear the 4 goal handicap against Legia Warsaw and Barca City BTTS. Tough ask though, I doubt this accumulator will pull off because just one team/match always screw it up. Would you bet on a Liverpool win or us for tomorrow? Thinking of covering some on us to win/draw in case Liverpool doesn't win tomorrow and screws up my accumulator, because I will most likely cash out if Liverpool wins tomorrow as Real Madrid clearing the 4 goal handicap is 50/50, its also not a given that City will score against Barca and us winning/draw Chelsea.

Lol... need to get back to the noobs and get the likes boxed off. Ironically I got number 4 just before this game but it's been nice to be part of the wider debate.

I think your seeing football gods that don't actually exist. There is no reason why they can't come and win the match but if this came was played 10 times in these exact scenarios we win 6 of 10. I'm nervous as hell and as I've alluded to on here previously Mou will sort him self out and then sort their team out and they will be back to being as annoying good as they tend to be. Also the result means jack shit in the long term. Would you of taken 3 points off the top after 9 games..of course.

That's said we are favourites for a reason. It's going to be fun either way

No I genuinely don't think we're going to win.
With all due respect, are you trolling? how can you not possibly win?! You are in the form of your life, scoring goals for fun, have beaten Arsenal, Chelsea away and close to beating Spurs. Klopp has Mourinho's numbers and you are at home and are the heavy favourites. All the factors pointing to a win for you.

On what basis do you think you won't win? Because of your gut feeling? Mourinho factor? Because this feels deja vu? This might all be in our favour in the past but we are no longer the old United and I can't see Klopp messing this up. Even with Dortmund, he has beaten Bayern Munich 8 times.

The fact that we're favourites to win and everyone is expecting us to walk all over you is exactly why I don't think we will. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for a Mourinho special because I hate losing these games, but that's the way I think it's going to go. I hope I'm wrong of course but I can't shake the feeling that United will get the result.

I agree with that from our point of view but a United win at Anfield could give them the lift they need going forward. The more teams there are competing at the top, the lower our chances are of getting top four. If we were to win then considering United have Chelsea away next, they could find themselves nine points behind us a week from now.

This is why I try stay off this place in the run up to matches. Our fans are telling the Liverpool fan's how good they are, and that it would require Klopp to mess it up not to beat us:rolleyes:.

Then you have the Liverpool fans saying how it's the perfect "no expectations" match perfectly set up for Mourinho who is the master of these away performances:rolleyes:.

There's always expectations on us as we've prob got our most expensive squads in history with one of the best managers in the world, I think we have every chance of getting a result there.

I like Herrera, but we really need Blind as the holding player against Liverpool. Coutinho needs to be neutralised or we're gonna lose this game.

As good as Carrick is, Liverpool play with too much pace for him at this stage of his career.

I don't care if you believe or not.
I live my own life and I don't have to prove to you anything or anyone I don't know personally for that matter.

You going to cover the bet in any way? Which Bookie you going to place it with?

This is the one game where nothing matters but getting it right feckin up them! I'm sure most dippers feel the same. Don't care how we play. Don't care how the goals come. Don't care if we're shite for 89 minutes and win with a last minute fluke. Just get it done.

I'm placing my bet with Bet365 and I have actually placed a £10k bet on Arsenal to be in top 4 when their odds was 1.72, ridiculous back then I thought when they always finish in top 4. I will usually cover 1 or 2 more teams to finish in top 4, and add it to an accumulator as a cover if their odds are too low. I actually prefer such bets to one off matches as its over a course of a duration and you can cover the bet if things don't go your way. I did that 2 years ago when we were going head to head with Liverpool for top 4 under LVG's first season and it reached a point when we were in danger of losing out on top 4, Liverpool and us had the same odds at close to evens so I covered them with an accumulator. Fortunately, we managed to beat Liverpool and go on a winning streak. 1.83 is too tempting now. Thinking whether I should place the bet now or after the Liverpool match. If we lose, it will definitely go above 2, if we win, it will drop to somewhere like 1.5 or below again so I'm caught in a dilemma now. A draw is probably the best result from a betting perspective for this.

Can't make my mind up about this.

Anything could happen. Hopefully Pogba turns up in full force.

Sadio Mane has said it was his decision, not Southampton's, to reject the opportunity to join Manchester United in 2015.

    http://www.espnfc.us/story/2973969/...rejected-the-chance-to-join-manchester-united

    Yeah right!
Didn't this guy throw a tantrum after the Saints refused to release him or something.

    What's he on about?

As if a player playing for Southampton would refuse to join United a bigger and global team with a huge pay rise to follow.

Who is he trying to fool

Fair point, though(and only looking at the prem) if there are 5 teams from London, you would need no more than 5 non-London based referees. Usually you will need less as there is usually more than 1 London team playing outside London.
Remember my point is about giving the referees the best platform and least amount of pressure for them to do their job, its not about bias, but transparency.

Yeah, it don't bother me. We have generally good/very good refs in this league. Probably better to have a southern based ref but hey Ho.

Enjoy the game lads and lasses.

Would you want to play for Lvg?

Mourinho may have been different but Lvg.
