It's an okay Line-up, not liking Rooney in the #10, but that's how it is.

Guess we will be seeing Shaw come on today as a sub.

Not that happy to see Rooney in the 10 position he isn't all that there. But feck me that's some firing power up front

Why doesn't he just play Shaw. He'll never get match fit if he doesn't play.

Knew Mata was going out the way LVG hooked him off last week and talked in the presser about him as a afterthought and then said RVP and Falcao didn't get in the way.

    Dropping Mata is stupid.

RVP looks off the pace at the moment so if anyone was to be dropped, it should have been him.

The time VG tries to fit in 3 strikers, and replace a perfect no10 in mata for rooney, is when VG must be questioned. RVP has been terrible, and he is the one that should be dropped today

We practically play with 3 strikers anyway. For most of the game Mata plays in a front three along with van Persie and Rooney and plenty of times you'll see him as the point of the attack, the furthest man forward, with van Persie and Rooney out on the flanks. I'm not entirely sure why we set up that way but if that's how van Gaal plans on setting his team up going forward then it makes perfect sense to play Rooney in that Mata role, IMO. It's more or less a 433 with a false nine IMO, much closer to that than it is to a diamond. People just called it a diamond because people associate Mata with playing as a #10 but in practice he didn't really play there. Playing Falcao, Rooney and van Persie in the same team in this setup was inevitable.

Falcao will play for 60 mins. Mata will come on in the 2nd half all fresh. I've no complaints. People are writing off RVP way too soon. He played quite good last week, just couldn't score. Was really unselfish near the end trying to set Falcao up, and they seemed to link up more than RVP - Rooney.

Giving up on Van Persie and realising he's been poor (or at the very least, the weakest of our 3 attacking players) are mutually exclusive. I don't understand why you don't realise that? Most of us aren't saying his career is done, but he should have been the one dropped today.

I don't feel that trying to accommodate rooney, rvp and falcao will work, at least not for the long term.

Not sure how I feel about dropping Mata but hey, let's give it a go. I bet Leicester are a physical side that would try to bully Mata all match.

Rooney has to step it up though in the #10.

I do not see rooney being able to use the ball in the same way that mata can do, RVP should be on the bench, not mata

Someone's going to be missing out each week, and I guess dropping RVP now isn't the way to get him in form.

Leicester City Starting XI: Schmeichel, De Laet, Morgan (c), Moore, Konchesky, Hammond, Cambiasso, Nugent, Drinkwater, Vardy, Ulloa.

Subs: Hamer, James, King, Schlupp, Mahrez, Wasilewski, Wood
How was that starting 11 decided? Rooney isn't as good at the #10 role as Mata and RvP as been terrible in every game so far this season. Dropping Mata seems to be the easy option, he should be starting imo.

Disappointed about Rooney playing AM, nowhere near as good there as he is up front. Mata doesn't deserve to be dropped either. Should be one of Falcao or Van Persie on the bench, IMO.

Don't agree with RVP starting and Mata out of the team, but I'm happy to see the diamond formation again.

Rvp played his best game so far last week. So did Mata, but someone had to drop out I guess.

Rooney's the captain, Mata deserved to play and we haven't had a look at Falcao. I guess both and RvP need to get match sharp.

Ohh Robin on the starting line? When we saw him at his last matches, he need to sit on the bench. Mata did not deserve for it...

Quick few thoughts about that team:

Blind will give us defensive balance.

That attack is definitely going to keep them on the back foot.

With them likely to be holding shape and defending in numbers, we're better set up to break that down than we have been recently with the industry and quick passing of Herrera and Di Maria and Rojo and Rafael will stretch them and cause much more problems than Valencia and Young have been.

Mata dropped? RVP still in, wouldn't be happy..

Not happy cause we have RVP starting lol RVP is awesome he's not been in form but he's worth persevering with. On form one of the best if not thee best CF in the world.

I do not see rooney being able to use the ball in the same way that mata can do, RVP should be on the bench, not mata

Yea I agree that Mata should be the #10 and couldn't give two shits if it's RVP or Rooney dropped in favour for Falcao to be fair, just trying to find some rational explanation to why he'd be dropped after being pretty good for us this season.

I said last week when he took Mata off that he was going to play this system to try and fit Rooney, VP and Falcao in the same team.

RvP is in a terrible form and he should't be anywhere near our starting line-up, yet, he is undroppable.Mata on the bench, horrible decision mister Van Gaal.
