Shame about Mata having to sit this one out, but I'm excited to see Falcao from the start. Hopefully shut up some of the moaners in the Welbeck thread.

Mata deserved to keep his place. RvP should have dropped out.

Maybe LVG thinks Leicester will park the bus so he put Falcao on for Mata.

Mata omission is a bit bizarre. van Persie really hasn't performed at all, he better start now.

    Swedish reporters leak again ;)

The time VG tries to fit in 3 strikers, and replace a perfect no10 in mata for rooney, is when VG must be questioned. RVP has been terrible, and he is the one that should be dropped today

Ugh. Knew LvG would do this. Harsh on Mata. We need 'good' Rooney today.

Plenty of options for us though! Leicester would have planned for Mata, good team selection headaches to have tbh.

RVP needs to show his worth or he'll be dropped today.

Well, who the hell got all of those right? Disappointed for Mata, and don't think three strikers will work. Anyway, GGMU.

Blackett Rafael Evans and Rojo. How is that a 3 5 2

    DDG
    Blackett - Evans - Rojo
    Rafael _____________ Blind
    Herrera - Di Maria
    Rooney
    Van Persie - Falcao
    But hopefully:
    DDG
    Rafael - Blackett - Evans - Rojo
    Blind
    Herrera - Di Maria
    Rooney
    Van Persie - Falcao

Rooney's defensive qualities are preferred over Mata's.

It makes sense, Leicester have done well so far.

Very harsh on Mata imo. I didn't like the look of us after he went off against QPR tbh, I hope the 3 work well together today though.

    Mata dropped for Rooney ffs

Not sure how I feel about dropping Mata but hey, let's give it a go. I bet Leicester are a physical side that would try to bully Mata all match.

Rooney has to step it up though in the #10.

If he was born in T20 era, he'd have dominated that too, even though I'm not sure if he could continue to be the legend as he was throughout his career, because these days money gets into players head and they don't perform throughout the career like Brian, Sachin, Ricky, Jacques etc. used to do.
390 runs in a day he got. Crazy, teams don't score that combined.

Brian Lara masterclass was on earlier, the way he could hit the same delivery to 3 different areas, amazing
Sachin , Lara and Viv are in the highest bracket of greatness. I can't praise them enough, talents who changed their sport forever like Messi and Luis Ronaldo have done in football. The Aussies and the English wax lyrical about Warnie and he was a special player - but Lara and Sachin took him to the cleaners more than once. From the 90s only Sir Curtly and maybe one of Wasim/Mcgrath ever stood par with those two.

Sachin combined Giggsy's longevity but never dropped lower than top 4/5 in the world at his position till the last 8-10 months of his career. Crazy!

Lads why are we talking Brian fecking Lara in a matchday thread?
    Because he's fecking AWESOME.

    Those Three up top..

Falcao will play for 60 mins. Mata will come on in the 2nd half all fresh. I've no complaints. People are writing off RVP way too soon. He played quite good last week, just couldn't score. Was really unselfish near the end trying to set Falcao up, and they seemed to link up more than RVP - Rooney.

Man Utd Starting XI: De Gea, Rafael, Evans, Blackett, Rojo, Blind, Herrera, Di Maria, Falcao, Rooney, Van Persie.

Subs: Lindegaard, Shaw, Smalling, Fletcher, Mata, Valencia, Januzaj
Yeah I'm with the opinion that its very harsh on Mata, but, we see Rooney, RVP and Falcao all start, what an absolute world class strike force that is
