Since Lingard isnt there, is it possible to hope for a Gomes sub now?

    Starting XI:

    Romero

    Williams
    Tuanzebe
    Bailly
    Shaw

    McTominay
    Pereira

    Greenwood
    Mata
    Chong

    Ighalo

    subs:
    Bishop
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Matic
    Gomes
    Fernandes
    James

    Score Prediction:
    LASK Linz 0-2 Manchester United

How the hell would you know?
I'm psychic and I've seen the future.

Or... he's naturally right footed and would probably be more comfortable going forward? just a hunch. He cuts inside an awful lot recently and I think with his speed he'd be less hesitant.

He did switch to the right against Chelsea away on his first start and did well for 10 mins or so.

I did once watch a match on a dirty, wet, November night in Stranraer when there were, at most, 150 people inside the ' stadium ' if we can call it that.

But I've never actually seen a match where spectators are excluded.

So this time, I'll be watching with interest to see if -

( 1 ) When a player is ' injured ' in a doubtful tackle, whether he'll roll over two or three times and then thump the turf to let everyone know how badly he's ' injured '

    And

( 2 ) When a player scores, will there be the exagerrated celebrations - a 10 yard knee slide with a matador arm swing to finish followed by seven or eight team mates jumping on his back before they move away so that he can do a fist bang on the club badge before going back to the halfway line for the restart.

    Romero
    Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Dalot McTominay Pereira Williams
    Mata
    Greenwood Ighalo

Looks likely & I think this team’ll get at least a draw tomorrow.

Expecting to see the diamond formation:

    -------------------Romero-------------------------
    AWB-------Bailly----Maguire----Shaw---
    ---------------------Fred----------------------------
    McTominay-----------Fernandes
    ---------------------Mata---------------------------
    ---Greenwood-------Ighalo------------------

    Score prediction: 1-3

Wearing my sensible hat I’d rest players for this and try and knick a goal to bring home. I don’t think the likes of Bruno Shaw Fred or Maguire need to start. It would be good to try and keep them fresh for tougher games ahead?

the other argument is get it over with in the first leg and let the youngsters get a run out at OldTrafford? Tuanzebe Chong Gomes Laird and Garner mustn't be that far away from getting some game time. Leave the big guns on the bench just in case.

    Brilliant

Be the perfect game for Garner this. Lower level opposition and we need to rest a few players.

If we can keep the crowd quiet in the first twenty minutes we should be ok.

Just 20? And risky low no. of defenders? weird. Wonder if the rest is joining later.. or not.

Yeah, usually 20 players travel and 2 will be left out of match day squad.

Play all the kids we want to test.. none of it matters.. All football will be suspended before the end of the season anyway.

Assume Bishop and Gomes are the most likely to be left out of the 18.

    Romero
    Williams Bailly Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Matic
    Mata Fernandes James
    Ighalo
    ---
de Gea; Tuanzebe, Lindelof; Fred, Andreas, Chong; Greenwood

Hope for something like this to get the job done in an hour or so if possible. Then start subbing off Maguire, Fernandes and one of James/Ighalo for Tuanzebe, Chong, Andreas/Greenwood. I think the return leg is the better option for playing a side with more changes if we can come away from here with a couple of away goals or better.

Finish the game like this ideally:

    Romero
    Williams Bailly Tuanzebe Shaw
    McTominay Matic
    Greenwood Mata Chong
    Ighalo

It all feels a bit strange with everything being up in the air.

But we have to assume for now that we're playing Spurs on Sunday and should make sure a few are rested for that. That's a huge game.

    Romero
    Tuanzebe Bailly Maguire Williams
    McTominay Pereira
    Greenwood Mata James
    Ighalo

    0-2.

I think there's more chance of the domestic seasons being completed than the European competitions. Afterall even if the PL is played behind closed doors it doesn't require international travel etc so it should still go ahead you'd think.

Our squad should be heavily rotated tonight. We need the full team fresh for Sunday's game at Spurs. We have a second leg as well in case we need to pull it back.

It'll definitely be interested to see how players and also the refs behave.
I have never watched a match which had zero spectators.

This feels a bit like batting on when you know you haven't got the overs left to chase a total. Only a matter of time before European seasons are suspended.

May as well go all out. This and maybe the Spurs game could well and truly be the last we watch our team play for the for foreseeable future. :(

    0-4, lets smash them.

You are probably right. Just pretend this is the last one or two matches of the season.. cause it most likely are.

My prediction : this and rest of sport is going to be cancelled.

Don't think the games will happen this weekend. Everything is shutting down, it can't be long before the prem is shut also.

It absolutely sucks but it seems the whole world in quarantine is the only possible way forwards.

Rumours rife that an announcement is coming later today to state that both the Europa n CL are suspended. Season is really in turmoil now. No chance these competitions are being completed.
