Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • It’s hard to see how we can win this game. Anything of course is possible. We’ve performed well recently away from home, but I highly doubt this team of ours can raise themselves enough to win at Fulham. We can’t score goals and we can’t defend and that’s not a great recipe for success. 3-1 to Fulham and more despair for us.

Another uncomfortable defeat I expect. Good side Fulham and probably the better team - man for man.
I hope we stick with Amad at WB, but I suspect Maz will come back in there as RA will anticipate our right side getting overrun.
Be nice to see some league goals for the home team at OT again - who knows, maybe the curse of United passed onto Rangers the other night and we are free.

The big problem with that is, despite the thread title, it's actually an away game at Fulham.

I don't think we can beat decent teams if we go out and try to. Its horrible to say this about Fulham but at the minute we're better off playing this as if it was arsenal or Liverpool away. Once there's any onus on us to go out and control a game or open teams up we are shown to be nowhere near organised enough to not be exposed a few times a game.

Its no coincidence that well settled teams like forest, Newcastle, Bournemouth and Brighton made light work of us with an aggregate of 11-3. Whereas city arsenal and livepool away we didn't lose. We're shit and need to play like a shit team would

For what it's worth id go

    Onana

    Mazraoui
    De ligt
    Martinez

    Dalot
    Ugarte
    Mainoo
    Malacia

    Fernandes
    Diallo

    Hojlund

Craven Cottage is one of the rare happy hunting grounds that United still have in the Premier league, where we seem to eke out wins most seasons!

I'm glad this game is outside of OT because we've been septic there recently. For some reason, our away performances have been more assured (Etihad, Anfield, Emirates) so strangely I'm not as pessimistic about this than if it was in OT! Could be totally misplaced though.

Scoring goals is a major problem for us. It's difficult to envisage us scoring more than 1. And of course, someone, somewhere is gonna f**k up for us, so this game has 1-1 written all over it!

Bayindir deserves to start but I think Onana will. Zirkzee probably just about deserves to start upfront but I have a feeling Amorim will start with Rasmus "born slippy" Hojlund instead.

Waiting for the team to click. Hopefully it is this match where we start to believe in ourselves and covert chacges falling to us.

    ...................................Onana......................................

Massive task to get anything out of this. I think maybe we fluke a point somehow.

Also, it's past time to give Rashford an appearance.
    It's really not.

That's 7 defensive players in a line up. Arguably 8 if you have Mainoo in a holding midfield role.

This setup requires attacking wing backs and a prolific striker. We have none of these.

I'd like to see RA change up the starting line up for the PL. He's been quite steadfast with the PL lineups and we aren't showing any improvement or attacking flare. I'd really like to see some attacking WBs in the line up and really go for it:

    --------------------Onana-----------------
    ------Maz--------MdL------- Martinez
    Amad-------------------------------Garnacho
    -------Manioo--------Ugarte----------
    -----Bruno-----------------Zirkezee------
    ---------------Hojlund----------------------

Hojlund needs as much support up top as possible but more so he needs service. Amad we know can play WB comfortably and I think Maz will suit him in behind. Garnacho is showing more work rate and reading of the system so maybe he can offer something in LWB?

We need a change because starting with 5 defenders across the back 3 and WBs isn't doing anything for us and we are still easy to play against. Why not?

WTF time is 7pm on a Sunday night.
FFS its a stupid time, whoever decided this was right needs sacking.
I believe it was the club that opted for this time. Or the alternatively was early game Sunday. Apparently they wanted a bit more extra rest for the players.

We need to switch things up here. I don’t get why we haven’t tried Garnacho as a LWB yet. He could have the same affect as Amad at RWB, he’ll defo make us better going forward and will still get to create and score himself. Would also allow us to play Zirkzee in the 10. Bruno needs to start games at CM next to Ugarte he looks more disciplined there.

    Dalot..............................................Malacia
    ................Maino.........Ugarte....................
    ...........Amad.......................Bruno.............
    .......................Højlund..........................

    Subs: Zirkzee, Garnacho, Collyer.

    It ends 1-1.

Far too many people starting Onana which is baffling me.
He’s been much improved for most of this season, our fans are far too fickle and tend to favour abandonment or change over actually managing a situation

Much improved? Leave it out, he's been mostly awful, so he saved a few shots, big deal, most goalies do, that's what they are paid for, the rubbish goalies make the mistakes he makes but he makes more than most.

He’s been largely reliable for the most of the first half of the season. Be interesting to search through the Onana thread for proof but I can’t be arsed. Might just start with your posts…

Looking at the upcoming fixtures of the other teams below us in the table, if we lose this one and lose at home to Palace next Sunday, we could be in 15th or 16th place by mid February.
The next few fixtures are our only chance of getting into mid table, before we hit a tough run against most of the top teams.
If we start that tough run from 15th or 16th, we are in deep sh1t.

We won’t be in deep shit. Just look at the teams below the line and a couple of the ones above it. They just keep losing.
