We have Mc Tominay, Fred, Lukaku, Sanchez. I would start them over Matic, Pogba, Rashford and Martial.
Herrera just cannot have a rest can He? He's pivotal. :nervous:

Win the game in the first 30, shut up shop & sub off the key guys for a bit of a rest. Need to blast them out in the first 20-30 minutes.

I think too many people are looking past this match. Fulham is a poor side, but they are still capable of taking points off United.

PSG plays midweek and on Saturday as well. Neither United or PSG will be fit and firing come next week, but right now the Premier League takes precedence because it's a league fixture and it's the next game on the schedule.

United need to be ready to put in a professional performance against Fulham and put in the required effort/application to get the 3 points

You can't ignore the next games. We need to rotate a little bit at least. Of course, we don't need huge changes, but Pogba I definitely think we could risk resting him for the first half or hour or if not, start him and take him off at half time if we have a lead or after an hour. It's mainly the midfield, but especially Pogba. The rest of the team has been decently rotated so should be relatively fresh, but the midfield needs to play 90 minutes every game because whoever we put in there seems to play really poorly, be it Pereira, Fred, whoever.

Pogba definitely needs a rest. He's dead on his feet and is risking an injury. Id rest Rashford and play Sánchez up top. Matić & Young too need resting.

Those are the key changes id like to see.

    This would be my team:

    de Gea
    Dalot, Bailly, Lindelöf, Shaw
    Herrera, Fred
    Mata
    Lingard, Sánchez, Martial

    ——-———-Romero—————

    Dalot—Smalling—Jones—Shaw

    ——————Matic——————-

    ————Fred———Pogba———

    Sanchez—-Lukaku———Mata-

    Subs: greenwood, Gomes

    1-3 Pogba, Lukaku, Sanchez

I can see Pogba and Rashford both getting a good 55-65 minutes before coming off, noway we should be risking a league win or over the PSG game.

Priority is top 4, it brings money and helps negotiating for players in the summer.

Go full strength against Fulham and if we manage to be 3 up by half time then give Pogba and Rashford an early sub.

Lukaku should definitely play this game. I feel him on the middle and Martial on the left (we need to get him on form for PSG), and Mata on the right, will be just enough to beat Fulham. I feel we will win without too many problems here, like 2 or 3:0, and Lukaku will score a brace.

    de Gea
    Darmian Bailly Jones Dalot
    Fred Matic Pogba
    Mata Lukaku Martial

Have no idea how he is going to rotate the midfield. Herrera is high energy, Matic plays every game and Pogba picked up a knock. Why did we sell Fellaini...

We've done such a good job of catching up, it would be a shame to drop points here. Especially with Chelsea up against City.

Craven Cottage has always been a tricky place for us in recent years so I think we need to go best team first.

We need to start fast and try to get a couple early goals, then we can kill the game with possession.

I can't believe the arrogance of some! Fulham are poor, yes. But how many times have we seen lower teams play out of their skin and take points off us when we've let complacency set in? Some of the line up predictions with loads of youth players included are laughable. No matter who we play against or what line-up we go with, we still have to turn up and perform. The Premier League is tough and unforgiving. I believe we're best going with a strongish starting line up (maybe a couple of players rested) and try to get a good cushion as early as possible to enable us to take some of the key players off early in preparation for Tuesday. But make no mistake, if we take our eye off our 4th place fight just because we're thinking too much about PSG, we could well get our pants pulled down

Yes, I go with this, put a strong team out and rest players later in the game if all goes to plan. Yes, we have another big game in 3 days but Oly will probably give them plenty of rest before Tues. The main problem would be injuries.

As per Ole's interview, he kind of chooses his team for the game almost a month before. So we may as well stfu with all the possible combinations and predictions :D

So you're more worried about qualifying for a competition next year than you are about playing and winning matches this year? That's messed up. What's the point of getting into the Champions League if you aren't going to try and win it?

By that logic, whats the point of the PL if you're not gonna try and finish as high as possible and win every game? I'd like the club to have a big enough squad with enough quality to challenge on all fronts, but not at the expense of the league. Play the strongest team at Fulham, and rest some players if we go 2 up by half time. If not then just play the same team against PSG. If they lose they lose, but playing a weakened side at Fulham and possibly giving up all the ground we've made up is just dumb.

If it was a team other than Fulham then I would agree with you. HOwever, this is Fulham. They are horrible. Even if we did lose, it wouldn't be because we were outplayed. It would be more of a "bad luck" scenario where we do everything right but score, even if it is with a rotated squad. Your first 11 isn't what wins titles. It's your entire squad that wins you titles. And this is why I think we need to rotate so that we are fresh for PSG. This is what SAF was so good at. He was constantly rotating the squad. Sure, there were a few big names that played almost every game, but for the most part, he was always keeping us guessing, as well as our opponents, and everyone in the squad had a huge role to play in bringing us trophies...

Initially I wanted us to rotate, but not anymore.
The last time we rotated we nearly lost against Burnley .

None of the players outside the first eleven inspires confidence .What if we rotate against Fulham and lose, and play our first team against PSG and still lose?

I would take top 4 over going 'far' in the CL if they were mutually exclusive . We need to field our strongest team(maybe a rotation or two), if we kill the game before half time we can rest Rashford,Pogba and Matic.

I don’t think our squad has enough quality as SAF’s squad did. You can’t forget that this is still Jose’s squad and he preferred a smaller squad. Our squad is a little light on quality. We basically have no backups for our 3 midfielders and I really don’t trust Sanchez, Lukaku and Mata to win against Fulham.

We must rotate so I'm not too confident. I'm not too hot on our squad players but we must. I would give a go to the likes of Mata, Lingard, Fred and Sanchez. Our two fast sexy fowards have to be rested for PSG. Lukaku could play the last 30 mins prehaps but I would want him rested as well. If we could wrap this up in the first 45 Ole should probably sub Pogba as well. If there was a match where the 3 points are pivotal to the way we play it's this one.

I absolutely agree with you, but isnt it shocking that those 3 players are now not good enough to go and beat a team as poor as Fulham. Thats one hell of a reality check!

Also why are some of you resting Martial? He's a certainty to start what with being injured the last week so he's in need of match sharpness. Think people are underestimating how important it is to play your best players into form before big games.

It is not a "fact". It is an opinion or extrapolation of something we have seen in past. So let us not get ahead of ourselves.
Besides, it is a given that we can't employ Mata in RW. So Ole needs to come through with a plan where Mata could be used in the middle.
I would like to see Herrera, Martial, Mata, Sanchez and Lukaku in the team to see how it goes. After all the performances are a result of various factors. Not particularly about only 2 or 3 players.
If we tinker with all positions and play an entire Team B, then yes, we might have a problem. But a few changes might still work.
Ole just needs to find the right combination.

I think that team selection will be in for rude awakening. Theres a reason why we always perform worse when Lukaku is on the pitch (hes not actually a very good player), Sanchez and Mata are declining and we would be heavily reliant on Martial. I am not saying it's a fact we can't beat Fulham with those players but I guarantee it will be a hell of a lot harder and a lot worse on the eye. I'd much rather play a stronger team and make subs, than chance these guys getting their act together.

Start with your best 11. Kill the game off, ease in a few of the squad players. Top 4 is very much the priority given that we've pulled ourselves back into the mix..

I am not saying team will be at similar level as playing with Pogba and Rashford. But I think we should be able to see off the likes of Fulham and similar teams. As we have a big squad, we have to play Lukaku and Sanchez in some games, one way or another. Maybe Sanchez plays forward while Lukaku plays at right.
Some kind of working combination (not necessarily counter attacking one) needs to be found out and I think Ole will find it out.

If we put the game to bed in the first half then they can take their foot off the gas for a rest...

I’d play a rather strong team and hope we don’t need to run too much in the second half...

A thumping win going into the PSG game would be better for the mood than a poor game where we throw on the big guns for the last 30mins to win the game.

Fulham has the worst defense in the EPL. Please stop judging players like Sanchez and Lukaku based on how Mourinho preferred to play them. This is exactly the kind of game to play these guys and help them gain some confidence. As for Mata, I'm having a really hard time understanding all the hate he's been getting on these boards lately. Is he a first 11 player? Not at all. Is he a quality option to have on the bench? Definitely. It's almost as if our supporters expect us to have 22 starters in our squad

I don't think we should rotate players for the sake of resting - we were playing 1 game a week for the last month. However if someone had a knock last game, they he would need to rest. I think strongest 11 with 1 or maybe 2 rotated, depending on knocks. Then if we get a healthy lead we could rotate the last half an hour, maybe even give minutes to some youth players.

You'd think so, but it doesn't seem like it. We don't need to have 22 starters, but we do need players who can perform when asked to come in. I have no issues with Mata as he comes up with moments of quality very often when we need it, but he's mucks up most of our build up play when he's starting.

In general, I have no problems if one of them starts with any two of Rashford, Martial or Lingard. However I absolutely don't trust Sanchez, Lukaku and Mata starting together.

I think thats how we should be rotating anyways. Like Ole said you're not doing the players any favours either by starting them in a completely different team who've never played together. I reckon we'll probably rest Lingard and give Rashford ~60 minutes and start Martial, Rashford and Lukaku/Sanchez with Mata to come in off the bench.

Burnley was supposed to have shite defence and look how difficult it turned out after we ruined the balance of the attack with players like Mata and Lukaku. We shouldn't be taking any chances here and downplaying Fulham that's scrapping for dear life.

I have a feeling, that he will start Romelu from the right wing position with Marcus and Martial in a front three.

Try and win the game early, plus I think he may also play Mata in a midfield 3 with Herrera and Pogba, giving Nemanja a rest. If we can go 2 bill up early, they will come out and leave even more spaces, I see thus being a narrow 2-3 or 2-4 win but our defence will let us down again.

You'll reckon we'll start with Lukaku out wide and Mata in a 3 man midfield with Herrera and Pogba

I know we have to rotate the midfield and give them some rest, Fulham seems like the ideal game for it. But seeing our options I can’t help to think that we may screw it up and increase the gap on the top 4 again.

Pereira has been so awfully bad and Ole showing zero faith in Fred just leaves McTominnay as option. So I think we would only rest either Herrera or Matic, maybe try Mata on for Pogba as well and if by half time we are not winning then adjusting again.

The truth is that the backup options for midfield are so far from the level required that every game looks hard when we have to use them.

Rashford looks knackered id rest him and play lukaku and bring Martial in for Sanchez.
Maybe fred in for matic. The rest as per Leicester. Never under estimate a premier league game or you get bitten on the arse. We snatched a draw at home against Burnley making too many changes. Learn the lesson.

Every report I read before the match talked about how well Burnley had been playing of late and to not take them for granted. Must have been just me I guess. Fulham on the other hand, are shite. The only way they get a result is if we have one of those games where we do everything but score and their keeper is MOTM. Otherwise we win this one easily regardless of who is starting...
