Hope the absence of Lindelof doesn't mean he's injured as he's been our most consistent defender. Line-up does worry me a little. It seems to be lacking that fluidity that we've been so good at, and reminds me of the Burnley game really. Rashford on the bench is a fantasy football nightmare too :p

Why do we keep resting Rashford?

He's 21 and in good form. He isn't going to get tired and the more he doesn't play the more his form is likely to drop off.

    Idiotic

It's a game against a weakish team a few days before a big Champions League tie. How are people not expecting some rotation?

    Smalling, Jones, Mata, Lukaku......Oh dear.
Now, repeat this over and over progressively faster each time until you explode.

7/11 for me. Worst yet. Have to say I'm not surprised due to PSG coming up but unexpected.

Good test for Smalling to see if he is fit for PSG.

What’s fulham’s lineup like, should we be worried?

I never understand why the need to rest several players all at once.

Just your typical league match day thread! Players are more than good enough to get the 3 points. Bench is very strong to get the 3 points or see it out.

The fact that people, and rightly so, are seriously worried about dropping points illustrates that the team isn't good enought, yet, to seriously compete for the league.

Need to be really focused for the first 20 minutes and weather any initial waves of intent from Fulham and test them early, put them on their heels. An early goal for either team will help United.

Whats wrong with the team  other than Dalot and maybe Mata, they are all regular starters.

The team is fine, and quite frankly if this lot can't beat Fulham with their awful defense, then they should not be here.

What’s fulham’s lineup like, should we be worried?

    Fulham team
Starting XI: Rico, Odoi, Le Marchand, Ream, Bryan, Seri, Chambers, Schurrle, Babel, Vietto, Mitrovic (c)
Subs: Fabri, Christie, Anguissa, Cairney, Kebano, Sessegnon, Ayite

I thought that would be the defence we'd put out, but I'm surprised we didn't rest one of the midfield three. I'm also worried that neither Lingard or Rashford are starting. Those are the two that give us the movement and energy in the attack. With Lukaku, Mata and Martial I expect to see quite a static front three. Mata moves around but can't do it at pace so won't trouble the Fulham defence much. Martial has the pace but most of the time doesn't have great movement. And Lukaku...well, he doesn't really have either (still has good top speed but he only uses it once or twice a match).

Why do we keep resting Rashford?

He's 21 and in good form. He isn't going to get tired and the more he doesn't play the more his form is likely to drop off.

I do agree with this. 2 matches per week should not be difficult for Rashford or any player who is at his peak.
Perhaps Sokjaer wants to phase Lukaku into the first team and make him our main striker. He is a proven goal scorer and should be nearing his peak, so to put him on the bench is not ideal.

This argument is even worse. Should we just bubble wrap everyone? I know the run of fixtures is coming from the end of February where we play every 4 days or so so I understand resting players but not now. We played basically a game a week since January and even between PSG, Chelsea and Liverpool there is a 6 day gap each. Just feeling it will be costly today, like Burnley.

They are on the bench. We need to use the squad.

Exactly and if the coming matches, this is one of few where it is possible to rest players.

Stamina levels on fifa do go back to 100 percent for the next game tbf.

He might have picked up a knock vs Leicester that we're just being safe with. I remember him looking very sluggish after a collision vs them.

Tough game with that team. The right side in particular is a weakness. Expecting a draw.

I doubt they will play him twice in 4 days coming off an injury. It will probably be Lindelof with Bailly or Jones.
You’re probably right. Anyway a good test to see where he stands. Many important matches to follow and he might be needed.

This. I really don't want to complain since I love the guy but it's just uhh.

But why, what one has to do with another, when this bullshit started in here. People come with any criticism and here they are certain folks going in defensive mode. I dont like seeing Mata and Lukaku on the pitch in the same time, dont give a shit who is the manager, JM, LvG, Ole, SAF, i would still say that regardless, it doesnt makes me right or wrong.

Jones and Smalling is ludicrous when you think about this in the broader sense.
These 2 players have survived since the SAF era and these 2 aren't even that good.
I can imagine if Messi played for us and he survived 4-5 different managers, but how have these 2 achieved this?

We should rest players against Fulham! If he doesn't rest... Bitching, moaning.. PSG..

    Ole rest players.

Oh, my God, hate this line up, shades of Burnley..
    Bitching, moaning.

Hmm. Not keen on that front 3. No issue with Smalling getting minutes, I mean he has to at some point, right? He should be able to handle Fulham, they’re 19th.

Ole’s hands are tied a bit by the fact our first choice front 3 are so key to how we play, and the second choices are such a massive drop off. In any case, there aren’t many better games to start them in. If Mata and Lukaku can’t be trusted to dispatch Fulham then they’ve got no business being at the club at all tbh.

    Mata and Romelu.:(
Hope it's Mata central and Lukaku on the right.

Somebody posted something on a previous page that sounded like a quote (from Ole I presume) about Rashford having a dead leg for the last week.

Yeah, just never rest anyone even with a run of games coming up, get all our top players injured and fatigued. You have a squad, you're supposed to use it, otherwise we would only have 14 players on the books.
Our squad isn’t good enough to rest that many players and still be confident to win a game in the PL

He's probably going to be starting against PSG. Rashford and Lingard are nailed on. Third spot is between Sanchez and Martial.
Don't see what Sanchez has shown to start against PSG.

He did pick up a knock, Ole confirmed it after the Leicester game. He’s not injured but he needs a rest if possible. It’s also a further indication that he’s already nailed down that centre forward role and will start up top on Tuesday. It’s really important that we rotate the team and utilise the full squad.

Don't know why people are losing it over Smalling starting, he'll hopefully mark Mitrovic out the game who's Fulhams main component to their attack.

Spot on, this place will never be happy. I admittedly had a bad feeling about the Burnley game but don’t have it here. I think we’ll smash them 0-3.
