I would love to see a fluid front three like Martial - Rashford - Sanchez. I can't understand why Sanchez can't start on that side, he played there for Barca, didn't he? Would instantly be our best option on the right wing. At least give it a try.

Alexis isn’t as quick anymore and I dont think he would be comfortable not being able to cut inside on the right.

What a stupid selection. First game back for Smalling in an away game. Mata away from home. We need to get 3 points. He spoke about players not worrying about PSG yet but it seems he is the one who isn't as focused on this game. Typical he hasnt learned his lesson since Cardiff. Always tinkering. He did so against Burnley and we were lucky to get a point. Its another crucial game he does the same.
His time is up. He has been found out.

    Line up asking for trouble.

Why not start with the strongest team, then rest a couple after 50-60minutes instead of potentially chasing a drawn or lost game with Fulhams back up.

Alexis can't get a game in front of Mata now? Not good. I'd have him starting instead, not like Mata has covered himself with glory when he plays.
He’s starting against PSG with Rashford and Lingard.

He doesn't have much choice though. The next games are PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool. By the end of the month we might not have 11 players fit if he doesn't take risks like this.

He's probably going to be starting against PSG. Rashford and Lingard are nailed on. Third spot is between Sanchez and Martial.

He has picked the first choice midfield.

What? Every fan has the right to question the managers selection. Did I say get him out? Nothing I said is an overreaction. Did he rotate against Burnley? Did we drop points? Yes. Did he rotate too much at Cardiff? Yes. We should treat all managers the same. OGS or Jose. Eitherway they are the ones in the hot seat.

Mata/Lukaku takes the fluidity of our attack away.

This. Its fine playing one passenger but 2 or more you get the Burnley result and have to hope the Subs save the game they destroyed.

Safe to say I didn't get this lineup right.

Edit: looking at it again I hope we're playing a midfield diamond with Pogba on the left, Ander on the right and Mata as a 10. Then play Martial as left striker with Lukaku on the right. That might work. 4-3-3 with these players will not.

Happy with the team with the exception of Pogba starting. He badly needed a rest and has been limping off the pitch the last two games. This would have been the perfect game to completely rest him and have him fresh for PSG and Liverpool.

    Very naive selection.

If you want to rest players, rest 2 of pogba/matic/herrera. You know, the players who actually need rested the most.

Why is mata starting? To create black holes where space should be again?

That said, we'll probably win easily now, but I don't like it.

That would be 1000 times worse.

I disagree, he played better against Burnely when we moved him inside to one of the #8 roles, and Fulham will be sitting back today so he could operate there, hell, he operated there against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, when he plays from the right we might as well be playing with ten men.

Alexis has been the worst player at the club since joining.

I get that we need to rest some players, but It's always frustrating seeing Mata in the starting 11.

Sanchez is shite, he won't do anything and Rashford will come on after half time and show him how it's done.

Hard for him to do much from the bench. Unrealistic expectations me thinks.

I know people love to be dramatic about the lineup in here but we battered Fulham 4 - 1 with a centre back pairing of Jones and Smalling with Lukaku and Mata up top just a couple of months ago

Caf doesn't like the lineup, ergo...we'll smash them.

In all seriousness I'm interested to see how he plays Lukaku and Martial, they've always had a good understanding. Martial tends to find Lukaku for a chance, and the latter enjoys to play off Tony, although, who would't want to play off a guy with such technique? :D

“‘Dead leg’ for Rashy” all week, apparently. He’ll start on Tuesday.

Mata and Lukaku in the same time on the pitch, me no like.

Logic behind Smalling and Jones is that they're physical enough to battle with the human wrecking ball that is Mitrogenho. Bailly would get smashed probably.

Agreed. If Mata does play which he shouldn't it should be at home. Not in an away game. Why are we resting Lingard when Pogba has been playing with an injury if it is fitness we need to be worried about. Too many red tinted glasses thinking fans shouldnt question a manager because he is a legend or he is 'interim'.

So? They are high intensity players. Shouldn't risk them getting injured either.
This argument is even worse. Should we just bubble wrap everyone? I know the run of fixtures is coming from the end of February where we play every 4 days or so so I understand resting players but not now. We played basically a game a week since January and even between PSG, Chelsea and Liverpool there is a 6 day gap each. Just feeling it will be costly today, like Burnley.
