Time to try the Zirkzee/Hojlund partnership. Casemiro/Ugarte in the middle and for fecks sake, tell our wing backs to not bomb forward leaving us open on the wings. Maguire and De Ligt to keep the back line solid

    Onana
Mazraoui - De Ligt - Martinez - Dalot
    Ugarte - Mainoo
    Amad - Zirkzee - Garnacho
    Hojlund

    Manager: Ruud

Not really of course, it'll be EtH and Rashford.

I don’t even look forward to our games anymore. I expect to see the same crap we’ve been seeing all season. I amongst others was very optimistic at the start of the season after the window we had. Soon faded away.

"Getting plastered in Porto while our team gets a pasting from Porto, Getting plastered in Porto, we're getting plastered in Porto"

It’s quite easy to play against us these days. Press like mad and disrupt our rhythm. Porto are more than capable of executing this. No chance we’ll win this. I’ll take a draw regardless of the performance. The sad situation we are in.

Ugarte - Mainoo doesn't have enough strength defensively as a double pivot.

Mainoo needs to be playing further forward.

I would bring back Casemiro for this one. It's not ideal, but we need to defence-minded players in the double pivot. We're shipping goals - again. Ugarte needs more support in there, not this 'one man to cover the defence' obsession that Ten Hag has.

I won’t be surprised if we fluke a win here and ETH is suddenly the misunderstood genius for our fickle fanbase

Any Portuguese posters here who'd like to shed some light on Porto: there overall quality, style of play, important players, yada, yada, yada.

Would take another 3-0 thumping here if it meant Ten Hag was sacked straight after.

I'm really sorry for the negative post here but I'm at that point now. I'm just tired of it all.

Don't worry I feel exactly the same

Ten Lives is definitely going to fluke a win here to prolong our suffering a bit more

Hoping the Boss can turn it about. Such an intimidating beard and lovely pursed lips. Whoa!

I hope he wears that tight suit we all like. Jacketed Erik is too much.

Porto were a bogey team in the best of times. Now? Not a chance United get anything here. Most definitely not with that horrible fraud in charge.

    Porto 2:0.

That horrible fraud won the League Cup in his first attempt. Show some respect.

    Three nil United.

Do you really think the next couple of results change anything? Maybe is we magically put in some stella performances and win both games. Otherwise I think his goose is cooked and the hierarchy are likely thinking about timing and options for the next manager already.

The last time we played them, we had a football team.
    Van der sar
    O'Shea Ferdinand Vidic Evra
    Carrick Anderson
    Ronaldo Rooney Giggs
    Berbatov
With Scholes, Nani and Tevez on the bench.

I honestly don't know. I say that because he should have been sacked many times before, but wasn't, so I have very little faith in it happening now, and will feel like this until it actually happens. Since last season he has survived way too many things that should not be survivable for a Manchester United manager.

I know we will not win and it will be a repeat of shambolic performances, still, I am going to stay up and watch this game until 1 am because now I want to see how low can our performance go before our management decides "enough is enough"

I am with you on that. There is a sense of anticipation mixed with a growing sense of dread.

Porto fan here, I already predicted the 11 in this thread.

Quality is hard to tell, very young team in a rebuilding stage, but with some good prospects for the future. We have had some good games, some bad, but still, best start of the season in years.

We most likely play 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 when defending, and try to high press you.
We struggle against really defensive teams that counter attack, hopefully Man Utd won’t do that.

Best players, Diogo Costa, Alan Varela, Nico Gonzalez, Galeno and Samu Omorodion.

Samu is currently 5 games 5 goals, so hopefully he will continue his goal streak.

We are a far cry from the best Porto teams of the last decades but still competitive, passed the Champions League stage last year and lost to Arsenal on penalties on the knockout.

Had an awful start to the Europa league last week, so I don’t know what to expect, you guys are awful, but you’re still Man Utd, stronger than the teams we play in our league.

No clear favorite in my opinion.

Porto played 7 won 6 in the league so far. Will be a tough game even if we’re on form

A draw wouldn’t be a bad result but given the circumstances we might need a win 2 points going into the third game isn’t great.

The level in Portugal is really this poor?
Yes, apart from Sporting, Benfica, Porto, Braga and maybe Guimarães, most teams are crap.

There’s a big disparity on the Tv Rights money between the big teams and the rest, so the smaller teams don’t have any money at all.

Any of those names you're predicting could be 'the next big thing'? Alan Varela has been linked with the likes of Liverpool in the past, though he is in his 20's now so not exactly a kid. Also, what do you think of Vasco Sousa and Deniz Gul?

Yeh Alan Varela should be joining a big club in the next few years, we are in the process of renewing his contract for a reason.

He is already a pretty good old school Dm. He is a sure thing.

The Biggest prospect is obviously Samu, physically he is a monster, and he is only 20, a bit green in some places, he gets a lot of chances, if improves his finishing he will be world class for sure and most likely Spain’s main striker.

Vasco Sousa is very combative, a bit inconsistent at the moment, hard to tell how he will improve or not in the future. He reminds a bit of Verratti, but very far from that quality yet.

Deniz Gul hasn’t played much but already has 2 goals, so not a bad start, he still has to adapt to this new reality for him, but he has all the attributes to be a really good player, tall, strong, good footwork, just needs to continue to improve.

Our biggest secret prospect is actually Rodrigo Mora, he just started to get minutes on the 1st team, he is only 17, but has all the attributes to be our next Deco, hopefully he will continue to improve and work on his biggest weakness, his lack of physicality and intensity.

Oh I forgot Nico Gonzalez, people forget he is still very young, he is developing well here at Porto, I think Barcelona with all the injuries actually could use him right now, hopefully they won’t activate the buy back clause.

Remember when Anderson passed to Nani and he scored a rocket from 40 yards against them?

Interesting, thanks for that. Will have to keep an eye out for some of these players over the next few years.

Unrelated, but what would you think about Amorim replacing Ten Hag? Is he good enough? What could we expect from him if we went with him? Apologies for the questions but it's good to get the view from those who are seeing these guys in action most weeks.

Amorim is great, even the rival fans admire the guy.

Sporting used to win a league title every 20 years, with Amorim they have won 2 in 4 years. He had a very bad year where they finished 4th, but he turned it around and won the next year.

He is a great communicator with the press, doesn’t talk or moan about referees that much, great with young talent, and seems to get very well with players.

Obviously not perfect, sometimes you wonder about some tactics and substitutions that don’t work, but that happens to all managers.
